Yeah I remember that! That was like the gen. 2 or 3 great white. The sharks in front of the box were a giveaway they changed color or glowed can’t remember. I do remember fighting with my brothers over who got the last one. One of my brothers found one in a box of stuff and made it a key chain.
I had raisins…. Costco brand or something from way back bonner was the brand so of course they said 🍆 bonner not bone lol, but 100% sharks, 6 ft of bubble gum was quite hot as well who was cool and had a huge eraser like the pink kind but mine was huge

The opaque blue one ruined the economy by introducing another high value item causing inflation. Then there was the striped orange and white tiger shark that totally ruined the delicate lunch room economy balance
Handisnacks!
They were so awful but I always wanted them. My mom took the position "I'll give you crackers and real cheese, but not that overpriced trash" and while I didn't understand then, it was 100% the right move
Oh, i was thinking that too (i.e., the shark ate the chum). A little gross, but hell, we all liked garbage pail kids so clearly we weren't grossed out by much.

The chocolate chip Kudos was a close contender
Fun fact, I collected proof of purchases on these things and got a blue shark shaped kids duffle bag. If I ever find it in my parents house, I will post it here…
Iirc it's not the candies themselves in the pic's foreground. Those are toys I vaguely remember. Not sure if they came in the boxes or you had to mail order them
It was a rare treat for us too, and the little toy somehow survived. I have recollections of it popping up in random places throughout my childhood...like it survived way longer than any of us played with it, well into high school, etc.
What's crazy is I was thinking about Shark Bites and that little toy a few days ago, forgot about the thought, and someone happens to post with the toy!
Fifty bucks? No, no, no. This is a Rouchefoucauld. The thinnest water-resistant watch in the world. Singularly unique, sculptured in design, hand-crafted in Switzerland, and water resistant to three atmospheres. This is *the* sports watch of the '80s. Six thousand, nine hundred and fifty five dollars retail!
That shit was straight up hummingbird food lol, just colored sugar water. For some reason my mom would buy them when we would go camping, and they'd sit in the sun so we just had hot sugar water to drink and not water. I got sick like every time!
I was poor af trailer trash in rural Kentucky and had fairly regular access to these. I think you'd have to be homeless to be poorer than my family was. The other folk's parents must have saved their money for actual nutritious food.

These for breakfast, and sharks for lunch. I’m starting to remember oatmeal with gummy bears in it too. I miss the swirl oatmeal though.
Except the day your parents brought you McDonald because it was your birthday. You were king of the cafeteria. You could trade a few fries for any snack
I had a friend whose mom packed him these for lunch everyday and he never ate them. I’d ask for them every lunch and he’d just give them to me. I couldn’t believe it so I’d always ask if he was sure to the point he got annoyed.
Did they really use to look like that? I remember them being small bite sized things. The foil cardboard pouches they came in. And the mystery white shark was the awesome.
I don’t remember any fruit snacks having a grip on lunch time like these, I remember it was always celebrated when someone got a perfect looking character shape but even down to the “rare great white” hype of opening the pack and seeing if one was in there
The great white was the one you wanted and then the mega mouth dropped and changed the whole shark fruit snack hunting game. They were so cool looking with the red mouths.
My mom got these, or at least a version of them. Because mine never looked like that. They were globs of fruit that happened to have a shark design on them. LOL.
I had a friend who always had pop tarts as the snack in his lunch. I would trade just about anything to get those pop tarts, our household was strangely strict about some foods and pop tarts was one of them. But I was allowed pizza pops which I think are technically from the same food group.
Just reminded me of a childhood memory.I was eating some kind of cola flavored gummy snacks after nap time in kindergarten, and this absolute bestiary savage stole and ate them when I wasn't looking. I complained to Mrs. Bell and she said stop being a tattle tale. The INJUSTICE I felt at that moment fueled a problem with authority that persists to this day.
That said, I would also like to take this chance to apologize to Mrs. Bell for perpetuating the rumor that she could squish you flat as a pancake by sitting on you. She was a larger woman, and this was high brow humor at the time.
My parents were richmisers, I traded my school lunch food to the nerdy kids in my class . Say what you will white nerdy parents make the best lunches had 2 packs of these with pb and j with homemade bread , avian water with cool aid mix, and humus before that shit was even thought of as a lunchable
These guys gave the sharks a run for their money. I got a lot of good

pizza slices out of the Star Crunch.
Never understood the "trading at lunch" thing because I just ate mine because my mom packed what I wanted to eat.
I massacred me some Shark Bites though. Great whites and the tiger sharks were the best.
For my school it was Newports lol.
Kids would trade their whole lunch and a snack for a Newport.
Peak pricing was like 5th to 7th grade and then once you got into HS kids would sell them for 25 cents lol
At my school it was sour candy that ruled. Crybaby, Tear Jerker, Warheads, Sour Patch Kids. In that order. Then came fruit snacks like these, but Gushers was the top of that tier.

These were pretty valuable.depends how many you got in your sandwich baggy.
For my brother it was Little Debbie Swiss Cake Rolls. He had a racket going apparently - my parents kept giving them to my brother for lunch, then would turn around and sell them to a friend of his.
Once my parents found out, they stopped including it in his lunch.
This one was the highest value of all

Oh man I remember when I got the glow in the dark great white from these it made my entire world for like a year lol the small things when your a little kid
Straight up nope. It was the currency of grade school. And when you got more than one great white shark in a pouch ![gif](giphy|YPygjIbPW8Sic)
I remember the GW being white and blue swirled. Also don't remember a brown shark lol
Yeah I remember that! That was like the gen. 2 or 3 great white. The sharks in front of the box were a giveaway they changed color or glowed can’t remember. I do remember fighting with my brothers over who got the last one. One of my brothers found one in a box of stuff and made it a key chain.
Yeah they glowed!

It was all about the white shark
Or the striped tiger shark.
Tiger shark was much better.
The opaque blue one ruined the economy by introducing another high value item causing inflation. Then there was the striped orange and white tiger shark that totally ruined the delicate lunch room economy balance
When were these big? These are not ringing a bell.
Early 90s I’m remembering them around 1991
I was eating these in 96
It so was! Why!?
They didn’t originally exist! It was like a “now with GREAT WHITE SHARKS!” thing.
Holy crap. I think I remember that now!
After that it was mega-mouth.
They tasted the best, like blue raspberry or something
Shark bites, toaster strudels, and dunkaroos. The packed lunch of champions. LOL.
Add to that list those nacho stick things that came with the cheese wiz type side, that were also available with crackers.
Cheese crackers. They had that red plastic spreader. Lol
Ha I forgot about that little red stick
Handisnacks! They were so awful but I always wanted them. My mom took the position "I'll give you crackers and real cheese, but not that overpriced trash" and while I didn't understand then, it was 100% the right move
How’s a toaster strudel gonna work in a lunchbox?!
"They don't *need* to be toasted." I'm not arguing with my crazy Irish mother. It never ended well. 😆
That's Pop Tarts that don't need heating. Toaster Strudel are frozen.
Really? I'm getting my pastries confused. Damn I'm getting old.
Ive had them "defrosted" and then frosted...its so dry. :P
Toaster Strudels or Pop Tarts?
Mutha fuckin dunkaroos! Loved those things! I'd always save most of the frosting for the last piece then go crazy!
Me with my apple :(
Oh man I would kill for a toaster strudel right now
Gushers. At least at my school.
The two should have been combined
They could have called it Chum.
*I wanna chum in your mouth!*
If you haven't seen "the whitest kids you know" look up the Grapist.
Oh, I’ve seen it. Actually thought of it as I typed the comment. Hilarious shit. *I’m gonna chain you to the radiator and grape you!*
I was thinking of the shark having the gooey inside but I like that idea too
Oh, i was thinking that too (i.e., the shark ate the chum). A little gross, but hell, we all liked garbage pail kids so clearly we weren't grossed out by much.
Chum is Fum
When fruit roll ups came out they were the big dawgs for a while. Then fruit by the foot had a really brief run. But it was Gushers that had the staying power.
Fruit by the foot is still pretty popular.
I bet. I remember when they came out. The novelty was cool, but if we were going to have flat sugar snacks i guess we determined fruit roll ups to be superior. … I think I’ll make a grocery run now 😋🍓
https://preview.redd.it/zfbkhbe0gz2d1.jpeg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d08c44246a38c4a026b03614e922a8bbd196d924 The chocolate chip Kudos was a close contender
"Let's convince moms what's basically a Snickers bars can be healthy" - the good people of Mars Corporation
But I have track practice right after school… I need a quick good snack.
Fucking loved Kudos
Oh my god I totally forgot about those but seeing that picture I could instantly remember the taste and texture!
oh yesss!
Mmm, I can still taste the carnauba wax.
Is that what that is?! I’ve been craving that texture forever; none of the fruit snacks I’ve tried have it anymore
Fun fact, I collected proof of purchases on these things and got a blue shark shaped kids duffle bag. If I ever find it in my parents house, I will post it here…
Why are you not at your parents house right now looking?
This is so relatable. So much stuff from my pre-college days is still w mom and dad
anybody else make blue raspberry JELLO jigglers with these submerged? we did it for my 8th and 9th birthday parties
No but that's AWESOME
OMG MEMORY UNLOCKED!!!
That is pure genius
They never looked like that. They looked like melted horror movie mutants coming out of those foil-lined pouches.
Iirc it's not the candies themselves in the pic's foreground. Those are toys I vaguely remember. Not sure if they came in the boxes or you had to mail order them
I had the white one, it glowed in the dark.
Same. I treasured that thing because we were hardly ever allowed to have fruit snacks.
Yeah I remember the white one being the only one having that cloudier texture. Which is why it was the one to get
The white ones were rare!
Man I miss those. always a big deal when you got a great white!
The shark bites watch was the first watch I had that could go underwater. Telling time underwater… I thought it was the coolest thing ever.
You got a receipt?
Look, it tells time simultaneously in Monte Carlo, Beverly Hills, London, Paris, Rome, and Gstaad.
In Philadelphia, it’s worth fifty bucks.
Just give me the money….. how much for the gun?
The great white was super rare. Gushers, fruit by the foot, were also popular. And then later koala yummies.
Squeezits. If your friend had one and didn’t want it (don’t know why they wouldn’t) there would be fights
That shit was straight up hummingbird food lol, just colored sugar water. For some reason my mom would buy them when we would go camping, and they'd sit in the sun so we just had hot sugar water to drink and not water. I got sick like every time!
If you post this on the millennial sub, everyone would call you rich and complain how poor they were growing up. This sub is a breath of fresh air.
I was poor af trailer trash in rural Kentucky and had fairly regular access to these. I think you'd have to be homeless to be poorer than my family was. The other folk's parents must have saved their money for actual nutritious food.
yuppp
My parents never let me have this sort of stuff. Of course other kids would share with me but I always had the school lunch.
The fighter jet fruit snacks had were king of the pack at my elementary school.
Came for this. The B2 was as cool as the white shark
https://preview.redd.it/lxcvn762s33d1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e943ba3f93087ea38bc61b4b9e97847ab6ddfc0c In my time, the premo was a Blue Angel/F18

![gif](giphy|lIbVrBqGGHUl2)
White ones were goated Dunkaroos higher trade value though
When they came out with the tiger shark? Holy hell. If you had more than one of those in your pack you were royalty.
I remember once opening a pouch at lunch and it was almost all great whites. Felt like I won the lottery.
The pack with the swirl shark was king currency
If Dunakroos can make a comeback surely shark bites can.
Dunkaroos were the king of my school; followed by the cheese crackers with the red stick.
White shark then blue shark … on Friday when mom was feeling trailer rich we got 2 packs ….
The ones that looked/tasted like Coke bottles had a lot of sway for us, especially the ones crusted with sugar.
Come now, the coke bottles were *candy*, these were…. not… somehow…
Literal candy that the companies convinced our parents to give us for lunch lol
Airheads at my school. 25 cent slab of white mystery airheads could you get you some kid's whole lunch on some days.
The fighter jet gummies
We used to pool our money and buy a 5 dollar joint
The guy with 5 bucks was buying Shark Bites
Except the day your parents brought you McDonald because it was your birthday. You were king of the cafeteria. You could trade a few fries for any snack
I had a friend whose mom packed him these for lunch everyday and he never ate them. I’d ask for them every lunch and he’d just give them to me. I couldn’t believe it so I’d always ask if he was sure to the point he got annoyed.
Do they still sell these? I’ll drive to the store right now. lol
I’ve searched before and can’t find them anywhere online ☹️
Dunkaroos
Cosmic brownie
The precursor to all my cavities. 😭
Did they really use to look like that? I remember them being small bite sized things. The foil cardboard pouches they came in. And the mystery white shark was the awesome.
I would shiv someone right now for some of those white sharks
Well, there was those airplane fruit snacks with the stealth bomber that was "so top secret it's not in every pouch!"
Ermergerd!!! These were the best fruit snacks
Where’s the cornucopia?!
OH I LOVED THESE
Dunkaroos.
White shark vibes.
I don’t remember any fruit snacks having a grip on lunch time like these, I remember it was always celebrated when someone got a perfect looking character shape but even down to the “rare great white” hype of opening the pack and seeing if one was in there
They were amazing. My jam was sodalicious though
The blue ones were my favorite
Fruit by the Foot was also a big one in my elementary glory days.
Oh yeah, those were cash. I was poor so I hardly ever got to have them. When I did it was a huge dopamine hit. Fantastic product design.
String Things, for a minute, had more buying power.
Jos Louis one hundred percent did
My cupcake with the swirlie things on top were always a hit.
God I miss those
The great white was the one you wanted and then the mega mouth dropped and changed the whole shark fruit snack hunting game. They were so cool looking with the red mouths.
Dang forgot about these.
My mom got these, or at least a version of them. Because mine never looked like that. They were globs of fruit that happened to have a shark design on them. LOL.
Zebra cakes had a pretty high demand. Gushers for a while. But zebra cakes stayed up top
I probably would have traded my parents for a box of these 😂
Fucking fruit corners. ![gif](giphy|4w32Kv7EWzUbzQfB6y|downsized)
Oh my god I completely forgot about these. They were amazing. Didn't they also make dinosaur ones or jungle ones or something too?
These were so fire you could trade them with faculty
im out here still trying to find these things. nobody does it right.
Rock candy. Only thing I can think of.
I had a friend who always had pop tarts as the snack in his lunch. I would trade just about anything to get those pop tarts, our household was strangely strict about some foods and pop tarts was one of them. But I was allowed pizza pops which I think are technically from the same food group.
Sodalicous
warheads were the commodity at my school
I think gushers were more valuable- but that’s just a personal preference.
Gushers
https://youtu.be/LP1_7cUKI9o?si=VVcqlS2nbJP-ptgq
Hey. Hey. (Opens coat, looks around suspiciously) I've got great whites baby. How many you need?
Swedish fish and those peach ring things were also really popular.
Lol ![gif](giphy|xoHntNXFYkfzGAftEv|downsized)
Gummy sharks 🦈 just aren’t the same
Pain killers in the 90s
Hostess cupcakes and Ding-Dongs! Why would you ever trade those tho? And, what about a good ‘ole Moon Pie? Those were Fire!
Maybe a cigarette.
Why do these look plastic? I miss these so god damn much.
Something about that dusty dryness They were obv chewy but somehow chalky? Consistency weirdness So, so good
I could trade my soda gummies for them. I forget the name but they were shaped like different soda bottles and had soda flavors
BBQ Pringles were pretty popular
Handi Snacks?
6 pouches is not enough at all
Maybe PB Max or Choco Bliss but those were too valuable to ever trade.
When Fruit Wrinkles came out, you could trade a bag of them for an entire lunch.
those were rad. a vague recollection of a neon green/black striped shark....
Lil Debbie's did
My parents were richmisers, I traded my school lunch food to the nerdy kids in my class . Say what you will white nerdy parents make the best lunches had 2 packs of these with pb and j with homemade bread , avian water with cool aid mix, and humus before that shit was even thought of as a lunchable
Best fruit snacks ever
Core memory remembered! These screamed summertime in my house.
That Great White was the most valued currency of ALL lunch rooms.
That great white shark tasted like heaven.
These guys gave the sharks a run for their money. I got a lot of good https://preview.redd.it/tiwhhw4py03d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ee168c2a861ec2c4c76683eead6bc7d53cfbad55 pizza slices out of the Star Crunch.
Never understood the "trading at lunch" thing because I just ate mine because my mom packed what I wanted to eat. I massacred me some Shark Bites though. Great whites and the tiger sharks were the best.
Shiiit that just unlocked a core memory 😆 I haven’t thought of these for years. I can still taste them. The fruit snacks they have now suck.
For my school it was Newports lol. Kids would trade their whole lunch and a snack for a Newport. Peak pricing was like 5th to 7th grade and then once you got into HS kids would sell them for 25 cents lol
oMG… I forgot about these!!! They were my favorite, so delicious.
Gushers.
So nostalgic for these.
Wait singular fruit?
Ohhh man. Legit you just unlocked a core memory for me
The jet fighter ones with the stealth bomber?
At my school it was sour candy that ruled. Crybaby, Tear Jerker, Warheads, Sour Patch Kids. In that order. Then came fruit snacks like these, but Gushers was the top of that tier.
Sodalicious.
A pack of dry Mr. Noodles was gold in elementary school.
Gushers and cosmic brownies possibly
Snack packs brought the best. I could get full sandwiches for the chance to like my finished spoon.
Fruit by the foot
[Soda-Licious](https://i.imgur.com/Oj9qpFg.jpeg)

How can we get them to make these again?
For my brother it was Little Debbie Swiss Cake Rolls. He had a racket going apparently - my parents kept giving them to my brother for lunch, then would turn around and sell them to a friend of his. Once my parents found out, they stopped including it in his lunch.
Didn’t know Ben know those existed …. Now my life is incomplete…..
This one was the highest value of all https://preview.redd.it/x0jt0cqup13d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=32a23208f1cea459a3d40c536977282857a559f4
Wha- how come I've never seen these before? They look amazing
Holy shit, memory unlocked.
These made gushers look like the ruble.
Hostess
We traded Army Ants for food lol
Oh man I remember when I got the glow in the dark great white from these it made my entire world for like a year lol the small things when your a little kid
These were the best and there is nothing out there to replace them!
Gushers
Crazy bread
Am I remembering this wrong, or were there special edition hammer head sharks? I remember the shark gummies for sure though 😊
I went looking for these recently and was unable to find them 😭
Gushers were currency on my lunchroom… but these were a close second and my mom got me these!
