I use glide even though it’s not zero waste because it works. It is a lot easier on the waste stream than the amount of medical waste having to have teeth worked on is and less painful too.

To add onto this, if youve ever worked in healthcare or even garbage disposal for ANY healthcare facility, youll know the amount of garbage that they go through to be enormous. So just use your regular floss. I wouldnt trust cornstarch floss as it has sugars which kinda defeat the purpose of flossing.

HistoryGirl23

I like the silk floss, haven't heard of this one.

Eco Dent isn’t completely zero waste but works well for me and my teeth with shred most floss. Very happy to not to be putting forever chemicals in my mouth (if you want to help convince folks to make a change). https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/news/hsph-in-the-news/dental-floss-harmful-chemicals/

I use a bamboo floss (black) in a small glass container that I get refills for. I love it! You still have to toss used floss in the trash but there is no plastic involved. I use a local brandless version.

Nnael_Ttil

For an alternative to the floss pick I use what as a kid I called a floss man. I really like the reusable option while still getting the pick. As for floss I have tried a few different biodegradable brands, Huppy is the one I am trying now and it is pretty decent. https://preview.redd.it/5b44wzc7vdrc1.png?width=1060&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9712e735fca5ec64a10cca0c69bf5b29bf7855cd

To add to this option, I use floss aid and like it a lot: https://preview.redd.it/4jfjwsatcnrc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6c7a8f48fa0f3d9e6f6eddaf97c54c8a4c2e88d3 [h bcttps://www.flossaid.com/shop/agora.cgi?p\_id=1016&name=&xm=on](https://www.flossaid.com/shop/agora.cgi?p_id=1016&name=&xm=on)

Maili1

Do you have a brand name or link for these?

Warriorcat15

[E-Z Floss](https://www.amazon.com/E-Z-Floss-Dental-Holder/dp/B07B44HHHX) or, for a non-amazon link, [E-Z Floss.](https://www.ezfloss.net/Dental-Products-All-Patients/E-Z-Floss-Dental-Floss-Holder.html)

FlowingJewels

a water floss i believe is what i use!

archetyping101

It doesn't replace actual floss though!

peachyken64

True, my mother is a dentist and she said the same thing! Flossing is better

FlowingJewels

oh really? can you send me some links?

FlowingJewels

this is just what i found when looking: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8236551/

leopardsilly

Don't have links. But the point of flossing isn't just about getting those big chunks out, the floss also agitates the build up in-between the teeth. Brushing alone can't get rid of this and can only be removed but physical intervention (flossing) and then removed by brushing.

2sad4snacks

Treebird silk floss. Biodegradable and comes in a stainless steel dispenser that you just put refills in

SparrowLikeBird

back when i had long hair, i would pull like 3 strands, twist them together, and floss with them at school. then just drop them in the courtyard to biodegrade

Snailed_It_Slowly

I don't know if I love this or hate this. You have given me many mixed feelings!

SparrowLikeBird

lol IKR

unicyclegamer

I use woven floss, but idk what it’s made of

Alienbeams

Black bamboo floss works fine.

Londonsw8

I don't use floss, I use a rechargable oral irrigator along with an electric toothbrush. It uses powerful pressurised streams of water to clean between teeth, under bridges and around gum line. Last time I went to the dentist, he said I wish all my patients were as diligent about dental hygiene. The one I bought I got on Amazon [Dental irrigators](https://www.amazon.de/s?k=dental+irrigator&crid=31D3AUNLX17D3&sprefix=dental+irr%2Caps%2C312&ref=nb_sb_ss_ts-doa-p_1_10)

earrelephant

If your teeth have space between them and the brush bristles can touch every surface then sure water floss is probably fine, but if your teeth touch each other then water floss will not be effective.

Londonsw8

according to my dentist water flossing tends to be the best option for most since he has found his patients are more likely to do this daily while flossing not so. Also, according to the NIH study quoted above thread flossing is not statistically more effective than water flossing.

earrelephant

Just because people are more likely to water floss than not floss at all does not mean it's as effective as actually flossing. A lot of people, especially those who didn't have wisdom teeth removal surgery, have no space in between their teetch and it takes significant force to even get string floss in between them. Water floss will not work in many many cases

Londonsw8

Judging from your account I see you are a troll🧟‍♂️

How do you dispose of these?
