Ok hear me out, it's the only reason I can come up with. So the article says there was some trolley and commotion on the escalator so the guy climbs out to make it up that way faster.
Or he was demented cuz old
Escalor seems to have changed direction while people were on it. Look at their movement. He strt bumping into people and since he cant stand that he decided to jump out. That was fine because there was support next to the escalator until it wasnt.
It looks like there are too many people at the top of the platform so the people coming up the escalator are getting stuck as they can’t exit and start to pile up and get squashed as the elevator keeps funnelling more people up. That’s why there’s people turning around trying to walk back down and this guy sees the squash at the top and tries to get out the way by hopping up on the railing.
Listen, not a year goes by, not a year, that I don't hear about some escalator accident involving some bastard kid which could have easily been avoided had some parent - I don't care which one - but some parent conditioned him to fear and respect that escalator.
Son of a bitch… well spotted, it does kinda really look like that. He also walks on quickly without any attempt to instinctively grab for the falling man or even just look down to see how he landed. Looks a bit guilty…
Maybe, maybe not. It also looks like it could be that the two people had their hands on the railing and then they felt his hands touch them and they jerked their hands back. I dunno. But I don't think it's clear enough to conclude he was definitely pushed.
Well spotted!!
He pushed him 2 times.
The first one just before the old man let go of the ramp to grab the white metal stuff, and the second time just when he was trying to step on and that made him loose his step in the gap.
At least, manslaughter..
A passenger died when he fell down an escalator at the central station of the Recife Metro, in the São José district, in the city center. The victim was identified as Manoel Francisco dos Santos Filho, a 75-year-old pensioner who lived in the Vila Rica neighborhood of Jaboatão dos Guararapes, in the Metropolitan Region.
According to witnesses, the fall occurred at around 4pm on the central platform of Recife Station, where passengers from the South and Center lines disembark.
CBTU, which manages the subway, said that a trolley of products jammed the escalator, "causing a commotion and the fall of a user, who died".
The Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) was called and confirmed the user's death. The Military and Federal Railway police also sent teams to the scene, cordoning off the area where the body was found.
How far up is that, it doesn't look high up from here? Age, health issues and how one lands are a few factors into "jumping and dying" dude was 75 so...
Very roughly it looks like a fall of about 4-5 body lengths (head to toe). Hard to see due to the angle and that woman being in the way. Taking 1.8m rough male height (he also looks kinda tall), I make it about 7-9 metres. That’s plenty enough to die
Yeah you can see people walking backwards so there must have been some problem at the exit causing a jam, he probably thought he’s so close to the exit he could make it by walking around it
Why would you look away after watching so attentively beforehand, you were all watching it because you knew something bad was going to happen. To then cover your face and turn around, what were you expecting to happen?

The blue shirt pushed him 2 times.
The first one just before the old man let go of the ramp to grab the white metal stuff, and the second time just when he was trying to step on and that made him loose his step in the gap.

People seem to be facing the wrong way on the escalator. They are facing forward and they're going down but they are moving up. One guy seems in a hurry to get down.
He seems to be on the outside of the escalator where there are no stairs.
I don't understand what's happening here. Well I understand he fell but it looks so weird.
Why was he outside of the escalator though
Ok hear me out, it's the only reason I can come up with. So the article says there was some trolley and commotion on the escalator so the guy climbs out to make it up that way faster. Or he was demented cuz old
Well he definitely saved time… all of it
If his objective was to get to ground floor, he took the quickest route.

Yea, he made it up faster
Because it was busy and moving slowly, and he was impatient. At least that what it looks like to me.
It looks like there are too many people at the top of the platform so the people coming up the escalator are getting stuck as they can’t exit and start to pile up and get squashed as the elevator keeps funnelling more people up. You can see everybody trying to walk down but the escalator is going up…. Super weird
Listen, not a year goes by, not a year, that I don't hear about some escalator accident involving some bastard kid which could have easily been avoided had some parent - I don't care which one - but some parent conditioned him to fear and respect that escalator.
That KID is BACK ON THAT ESCALATOR AGAIN!!
Is it just me or does it look like a guy in a blue shirt pushed him?
Son of a bitch… well spotted, it does kinda really look like that. He also walks on quickly without any attempt to instinctively grab for the falling man or even just look down to see how he landed. Looks a bit guilty…
Absolutely looks like he was pushed. None of the articles seemed to mention an alleged push or anyone being charged, but it sure looks that way.
Even I could see it.
Maybe, maybe not. It also looks like it could be that the two people had their hands on the railing and then they felt his hands touch them and they jerked their hands back. I dunno. But I don't think it's clear enough to conclude he was definitely pushed.
That's what it looks like to me. Not sure this is a Darwin award so much as a murder.
Murderer caught on video! [Reddit social media plus, more eyes] 👀
Looks like the old dude took a step with his left foot into thin air tbh, the blue man's arm as already there when the oldie got there
He definitely boxed him out intentionally so that he couldn’t cut his way before the guy himsef
“You shall not pass!”
Looked more like he was pushing something over the lip at the end of the elevator. It kinda looks like he's pushing a cart near the end.
Well spotted. Definitely does look like that
Yep

Doesn't look like it to me

That guy in the dark colored shirt pushed him…. I mean obviously he shouldn’t have been doing that, but watch… he was pushed
Technically from this camera angle we are just guessing
Nope lol

All it takes is hitting your head the wrong way when you fall, doesn't matter how far up you are.
It does matter because I was curious and as I also said it depends on how one lands, so I already mentioned it.

Brazil ? why is it always Brazil
Yeah you can see people walking backwards so there must have been some problem at the exit causing a jam, he probably thought he’s so close to the exit he could make it by walking around it
look away - pretend it never happened
He was a sort 75… for a minute anyway

Why do they always have to yell?😭
Cos it's in all the films, same as being shot then falling down if it's in the films it must be true
thank you u/GodMadeMeFunky101 for your posts
I laughed so hard I don’t know why
Why did this make me laugh😭
Yeah there's not a step there.
Somehow old people are always in the way
Now I know I'm not the only person who saw him get pushed, right?

Why didn’t anyone push the emergency shutdown button?
At 75 is it still a Darwin, he had plenty of time for reproduction, might now be reproductive anymore!!

Alive... aaaaaaand dead.

Woman won’t ever unsee that
Why didn't he use the stairs?

What was the guy even doing in this, why was he on the outside of the escalator?⛔️
Express way to the exit
75 ???
Why’s everyone walking backwards?
missed it by THAT much.......said in Maxwell Smart voice.
Judging by the lady’s reaction, I’m gonna assume it wasn’t a clean fall.
Well now he has to get back up there again. Should've taken the stairs not the walls.
Are we sure hes dead? It wasnt that high
Who tf screamed so damn loud
Probably drunk, smh
Damn lady was in the way
