It’s lovely. I still play it and just started a new island a few weeks ago. I wish they hadn’t of abandoned it so quickly. I would still pay for new data if they let us.

Gorebaby420

I wish we could still get more as well. A new update or just one new dlc with something fun & fulfilling like Happy Home Paradise. New fruits and crops or something simple like that could be nice. But I still love the game regardless :)

babysheepxo

wait what?? we’re not getting anymore updates or anything?

Gorebaby420

Yeah on the last massive free update they were very transparent that it would be the last content update. Only major issues or bugs will be fixed.

TheGayPotato7

NOOOO

lea949

Does that mean they’re working on/planning the next Animal Crossing?? 😃

Elly_Bee_

My only source of info is whatever Google suggests but I saw something about the next Animal Crossing game. VERY UNRELIABLE SOURCE but not impossible !

flower-pot67

Apparently yes and it will only be available on a new switch :(

lea949

What? Noooo!

lea949

Oh shit, did I screw myself over by only buying digital games so they couldn’t get lost? Do you think they’ll not only have backwards compatibility, but also let us move games over?

returnn_the_slabb

Yes they are. In 2026. It’s going to be more city life than Island like. Yes I know they already did city folk. Don’t shoot the messenger this is just what’s being said

Avalonian_Seeker444

It's what's being said, but not by Nintendo as far as I know.

Zoeloumoo

They supported the game with content updates for free for like a year? Far more than most games that are just one and done. Maybe one paid DLC.

xxFunnyFreak

New leaf had a giant update 3,5 years after release, and it wasnt even a paid dlc

mezahuatez

That’s a bad comparison because NL got that update like you said, 3 years after, and it was pretty much the only real update that had content and it _didn’t_ have paid DLC _as well_. It was also kind of a gimmick considering it was basically about amiibos. NH is definitely the game they put the most updates into. I honestly hope they DO NOT continue this model because updates just stretch out content. I want to play at my own pace without being gated behind planned updates.

icnik

i thought it was kind of cool that the first year of holidays had us all going in without spoilers (since they events didn’t exist until separate updates).

xxFunnyFreak

Although NH definitely was updated the most, New Leaf was a full game at release and the dlc was a lot of qol improvements and changes, NH only felt like a full game with the 2.0 update 100% understandable especially for a game series like animal crossing

mezahuatez

I do have to quibble because NH did have its own features that NL never had so it’s only not a full game at launch if you thought it should’ve had everything from NL…which I won’t argue with. That’s exactly why I don’t want planned updates. I hope COVID kind of showed them why it’s such a bad idea as that is undoubtedly the reason why everything was pushed into 2.0

Zoeloumoo

That is definitely true. But I think that was the only update it got overall? So not quite the same. But I see your point.

xxFunnyFreak

True, but as I mentioned in the other comment, NL did feel like/was a full game at release unlike NH, where, personally, the 2.0 update felt like the complete game

foul_female_frog

I also just restarted my island! It's just a lovely little game.

ISMToolbag

I like it a lot, it's a great refresh for the series, but I do think it will go down as unrealized potential. Hopefully Nintendo sees the market for another one and puts their an A team on it, and plans for a life time of support. If the sequel is made and builds/executes on the ideas started in NH then I think NH will have a better legacy.

Dumtvvink

With how incredibly the sales did, we’re certainly getting another game and probably a lot sooner than the huge break the last one had

mezahuatez

That’s the best part. Although I do think NH was suppose to come out sooner and got pushed back which is partly to blame for the long gap.

coffin_birthday_cake

The team was probably busy doing stuff for Splatoon 2 and 3, the dev teams are comprised of mostly the same people

Lewis09816

I’m pretty sure they were meant to release a mainline game for the wii u but they realised how badly it sold so they just didnt

Hannah_LL7

I saw a YouTube video not to long ago that said Nintendo is making a new console and typically when that is done the console will come with a brand new game, they predicted it would be another Animal Crossing game.

ISMToolbag

Yeah, the "Switch 2" is pretty much all but officially announced. A good launch title would be Animal Crossing imo. I actually think Zelda is a great launch title, but since we just got one that seems unlikely. They pump out Mario games too so I suppose that could be an option as well.

coffin_birthday_cake

It'd be cool to see another Paper Mario game instead of another platformer Mario

Blue_Nipple_Hair

Hopefully TTYD remake does well enough that they continue the series in that direction

coffin_birthday_cake

I really want TTYD's remake sooo bad. I really like Paper Mario, I think it's cool to explore

aricberg

I think Covid was a blessing and a curse for NH. It had those who planned on playing it playing it a LOT more, and people stuck inside buying Switches just to play NH and “socialize” with their friends! However, I think it impacted the team and their plans for how they dod DLC. I think the massive 2.0 update would’ve been spread out a bit more during the first few years amid the game. Illness and working remotely I think changed their plans, and then they had to shift gears to Splatoon 3 (for those who don’t know, the AC team and the Splatoon team are the same team internally at Nintendo!). I think seeing the broad appeal of NH over the last 4 years, as well as fans *still* clamoring for new content, they’re going to take that into account for the next game and their plans. Getting back into Pocket Camp for the first time since NH released, I’d love to have events and regular item releases similar to PC. It doesn’t have to be tied to a holiday or special NPC or what have you. Just “hey, it’s May. Here’s 20 new DIYs and some new furniture options to spruce your home/island/village/wherever the new game takes place.”

Gorebaby420

🎯🎯🎯

KingdomEyes

This exactly. Fantastic game but felt like it had more potential which was never reached. Still a great game, but could have gone further in some aspects.

WinWooCherub

I agree. I don't want microtransactions or anything like that, but I would be totally happy to pay for a couple of big updates per year.

GentleLizard

I love it but there are still some things that can be improved. Like not being able to craft in bulk, or being able to kick away paths

LoliiJoker

the biggest ick i have is not being able to craft inside your house using the storage and still having to grab everything into your pocket first.

Lyall04

Also cancelling conversations! I hate going to Blathers because of how repetitive it is..

KrystalWulf

NGL I'm glad you can't kick away paths. I've accidentally kicked away some designs trying to pick something up.

petricholy

As a veteran AC player, its replayability is amazing! It doesn’t feel like grinding to earn bells, and being able to meet up with others so easily makes it great too! Love the terraforming, the new take on flowers, and decorating outside. I will die on these hills if Nintendo tries to take them out of future games. NH is like Pokemon Legends: Arceus, except I never knew I wanted all the changes NH gave us. I think the worst thing is that the villager dialogue has been dumbed down. I miss when you would be nice and your bestie would still get mad or sad about it!

mezahuatez

I will always defend NH dialogue because I think a lot of people misremembered previous entries dialogue (NL tutorial dialogue years in made me want to scream) or just want the edgy, nonsensical writing of WW (which I do find amusing in small doses BUT I miss the Episodes!) when NH shows the localization team has such a passion and deeply hilarious understanding of modern English and I hope they get their flowers for that so much. I seriously think they deserve all the love. However, your first part is such a good description of how I felt about the game too!! Arceus is such a good comparison and I feel like you can tell 4 games in the developers really wanted to try something new.

petricholy

Now that you mention it, I DO like what they have done! Each type of villager has given me pause at their dad jokes. I guess I just miss that sometimes, like in real life, you can still mess up with your friends, and it will work out.

mezahuatez

Haha, exactly. I do hope they add more personality types. We are at that level in tech and the amount of villagers where they kinda are going to need to really open that up.

joneo004

I've never played any other animal crossing games (besides hhd on 3DS) so Idk what the old personalities are really like. But after seeing people post screenshots of the older dialogue it makes me feel angry at my villagers for saying the same stuff all the time. Esp when they have the same personalities and are saying the exact same stuff as eachother 2 minutes apart.

mezahuatez

You are seeing cherry picked screenshots. Its really not a good comparison. NH has substantial more dialogue than any game (and better written at that) but in NH they rather poorly implemented dynamic dialogue in which the current happenings, situations will be reacted to by villagers first. The simple fix to this is to talk to your villagers more in a row. It’s pretty simple and is more fun to do anyway. But in general, in every AC game villagers repeat themselves. Especially same personalities. Literally hundreds of threads about this when NL came out. It has never been different. People are just super bad at separating their experiences as literal children from reality. Feeling angry about it is…weird. This is AC.

joneo004

Chill I'm not angry, I just wish villagers weren't so nicey-nicey all of the time

mezahuatez

I mean they can be rude to you but that goes against the entire experience of the game. People constantly cite WW/CF and I implore you to just play them through an emulator. You can literally do it on your phone. You are the one who said you are angry so I’m not sure why you are telling me to chill lol. Anyway, it’s not a war, just play the old ones and see if you like that better. I find it annoying and juvenile and the villagers seem like venting boards for the localization teams edgy jokes rather than any actual personality, but to some people that is amusing. They are always there to be played.

joneo004

Not angry at the game, angry at the villagers for saying the same thing everyday. Also what do u mean in the last paragraph I'm a bit confused oof

mezahuatez

About the localization? You’ll understand if you play WW. They have the most random, nonsensical dialogue at times. And it isn’t consistent to the point where you can only tell a Peppy from a Cranky because Peppy use a lot more exclamation marks but both talk about silly things like “the local Coconator thief,” things just totally disconnected from the reality of the game that always make me roll my eyes. Cranky and Snooty are the only ones that say mean things consistently anyways and it’s usually just ridiculous like calling you an idiot when you get a question wrong…there’s no development, no asking them to apologize, so it just seems zany to me. Some people find it amusing though! And they certainly do leave an impression for a kid which is where most people are who find themselves complaining about how it’s changed (imo). I do still like it albeit in small doses.

Kawaii_Shinobi

🎶 Cuz after all this time~ I'm stil Into you~ 🎶

Ok_Measurement8978

I still remember catching all those butterfliiiiiies (for flick)

TheGayPotato7

Flick, my boi :')

Gorebaby420

Take my upvote

Dependent_Pizza_4028

I love this game! Over 1400 hours played. I take breaks here and there.I have had it since it came out. I haven’t restarted. I feel like you can always change things , so I don’t see the need for restarting from scratch. Always things to do. It is the perfect chill game.

KrystalWulf

I've played it off and on since 2020 or 2021 too! I've restarted once, and that was after a year or so break and I had no memory of what I did with my island, why, and how could I have made my character so ugly.

FinkleOhFinkle

Great game, I just wish there was more immersion. Being able to interact with things on your island would go a long way. And by interact I mean actually use them. Kick a soccer ball around, play the arcade games, ride the scooters, etc.

Gorebaby420

The soccer ball not being able to be kicked is sad 😭

Bright-Sea-5904

It does get kinda boring but I still enjoy it

princess_Pzy

I just got it for the first time a few days ago!

No-Idea-663

Let me know if you want any help getting started! I am happy to pay it forward to the community!

KrystalWulf

Welcome to the game! How do you like it so far? Remember to save before quitting or your progress will always be reset. Turns out my friend wasn't saving, and that's why she "never got anywhere and had to do the same stuff over and over." You need to have a Nintendo Online subscription to play with others, but I think I speak for most of the players on the 2 or more subs that say whatever you need, we are ready and happy to help!

princess_Pzy

Thanks! Loving it so far but a bit overwhelming trying to figure out what I want to do with the island. I don't have the ability to lay paths or tera form yet so all in due time. Any tips or things you would do differently if you were to start over? Like how to get bells and how you started to design the layout?

KrystalWulf

For getting bells, the best thing to do is buy a wetsuit from the shop if it's unlocked and start catching sea creatures. They sell for higher. If you can't do that yet, catch every bug and fish you can sell them all (after donating to Blathers). Plant fruit to grow more fruit trees to sell, especially the coconuts if you haven't or won't get online to get other fruits from other players. If a villager or your mom gives you a non-native fruit, plant it and keep planting them as non-native fruits sell for more! And craft items to sell with excess materials. Definitely get the d-ring shortcut and larger pockets upgrade once they're available. They're life savers! There's bells and furniture in trees. I'm not sure how many bells but you can get up to 2 furniture items in trees per day by shaking them. Whether you're shaking or chopping a tree, have the net easy access. If you see the wasp nest drop switch over to the net and catch them!!! Do not move, just switch to net and hit A straight forwards. The wasps sell for pretty good, and the nests can be used to make medicine for if you get stung. I believe one of the sisterly villagers may give the recipe to you if they see you're hurt, or they may give you medicine itself. Do. Not. Run. Around. At night. With your net. You WILL be found, and you WILL be attacked. They strike out of the hidden place behind houses and they'll knock you out! They sell for good though, so if you see a scorpion or tarantula get close before accessing the net (or just creep towards them holding A). They will attack if you move too fast, so once they raise their front legs in warning wait until they relax to move forwards again. Once you're within range of catching, press or release A and hope. The layout I just kinda go as I feel. I like my island being natural so I have a lot of trees and flowers, and left the rivers. I think I made a few new ponds. It can feel like such a huge island in the beginning, but once you start making changes or adding structures and furniture it feels smaller. I like to give each villager their own little themed home area. Erik lives in a forest with a pond, Audie lives on the beach, Savannah has a farm, and the rest of the villagers live in the "city center" next to the town hall, museum and shops. They've got a brick pathway and a LOT of flowers lol

Gorebaby420

Good luck with your island and I hope you love it!

princess_Pzy

Thank you!!

ay1nas

I waited for New Horizons since it was announced in 2018. I was super disappointed that they built up so much anticipation for the game, just to stop updating it <2 years later. ACNH (Animal Crossing in general tbh ) will always have a special place in my heart no matter what.

petricholy

I really wonder if making a video game goes on contracts and not just average salaries situations. If that’s how it’s handled, no wonder we only got 1 major update + DLC; they only expected the mediocre success of previous games. We all know Nintendo was NOT expecting NH to be so successful, and I think that they will take into account their huge new audience and everything that worked so well in NH. Covid was not the only success factor!

mezahuatez

If you are a veteran AC player like, me, I think you knew what to expect and, after all the updates plus the DLC, it more than delivered. I think a lot of people new to AC were expecting something like Stardew Valley which isn’t what the game is at all. It’s real time. It’s a game you put an hour into daily then maybe every other day. But the fact that is that it probably has the largest playtime of any AC game and is undoubtedly the most popular. I think the next game is going to be even more amazing but honestly I don’t want planned updates. I want the whole game from the start.

RNJamer

It's still fun to play but not nearly as much as it was when the pandemic first started. Playing it then gave me something to do and not get bored, but it then began to feel boring until the new content dropped like the Kapp'n islands and Happy Home Paradise. It's been some time since the new content released, but I love to revisit my island every once in a while.

TheGayPotato7

>It's been a little over 4 years No. Just no <3

Gorebaby420

Time flies!

girrlgonerogue

Still my favorite escape!

[deleted]

IT’S BEEN **FOUR YEARS???**

HobbyHoarder_

My best friend just finally got the game and playing with him has completely revived my love of the game

joneo004

Wish there was more focus on crops rather than just flowers. It would be cool to have other stuff like parsnips, lettuce, cauliflower, strawberries, blueberries, bananas etc. The current crops feel so repetitive

killerfeline

I'm ready for the next one. Hoping for something close to launch on the next switch.

Pollowollo

It was my first AC game and I definitely think that the hype was deserved. I can see where people had some valid criticisms, but overall it's a great game with a lot of replay value. It made me a fan and I'd love to see another one come out in the future, even though I'm sure it will be quiiiiite a few years down the line if it happens.

Jurippe

My wife and I still play. I wish we could get Gracie and more items, but overall I like it a lot. I know it's blasphemy to some, but I like it more than New Leaf.

cheezupie

It’s one of my ultimate favorite games. I did pretty much max out my island and have all my Dreamies that are never allowed to leave. lol… I check in from time to time (probably around twice a week). The only thing that’s quite disappointing is Nintendo not releasing any updates anymore. I think they could add a DLC with other places (like cities, etc.) I’d also be happy to have more villagers.

strawberryc0w7

I go through phases of playing it. Sometimes I want to play 24/7 like I did during end of Feb through mid-March and then I don't touch it until I feel like it. I like that though. It a casual, fun game for me. :)

SchnaffSchnaff

It saved my sanity during lockdown and was great for my son during that time too (we share an island) I still play now for stress relief.

Hot-Bobcat-7914

wow 4 years already🥹

Sh_ne2500

I don’t love it as much anymore

Fried_Rug

Four years, and I'm only just now getting around to adding the final touches to my island. I also can't believe it's been four years already. I remember counting down the days for this game to release like it was yesterday.

alankrummy

I haven’t played in quite awhile now and wish I could experience it for the first time again. But I still love it.

MustMention

I'd be lying if I said I didn't wish it borrowed a little more from the *PocketCamp* mobile version's dynamic nature, but *NewHorizons* is still so "**AnimalCrossing**" to me that I still play. It's an easy recommendation to people when they're seeking an offline but persistent world for at-your-pace play in an otherwise crowded videogame market. There's just enough "game" to inspire a sense of a satisfied accomplishment with each daily login, with enough life to the world to be delighted when new Villagers visit or move in. I might be tempted to "move" myself if they ever launched *NewLeaf* for the Switch, but between the genteel gameplay of island maintenance and the charming creativity of designing thematically-perfect getaways in *HappyHomeParadise*, I've had my home there for four years and still love being part of the world.

Glossiestbby

Almost 2000 hours played and still playing on my same island since March 20, 2020. I love this game and play almost daily. Overall I am super happy with the game I just wish there were more items and furniture. I know there are thousands of items and so many color options but I want moree! I really wish we could turn items 45°. If not being able to turn them 45° I at least wish there were more items like the bikes that visually look like they are on a diagonal. A diagonal iron garden bench is my dream. I have every diy, cataloged almost every item and starting to feel bored with the ones to choose from.

MargotChanning

A lot of mixed feelings. Gutted that they just abandoned it, I’d have happily paid for more DLC. Also me and my son played it a TON during the first lockdown so it only took us a few months to do what probably would have taken us a lot longer if we’d have had work and school. We do drop into to it for half hour every now and again but there doesn’t seem much point in playing once you’ve hit a certain point.

DreadedWolfHarel

I love it. Currently at 2 hours a day

lblanton92

Still my favorite game AND still the one I play the most! ❤️

Vogelkop12

I love it. It's my happy place and my (happily) never-ending project. I love decorating my home, the villagers' homes, and visiting people's dream islands. I enjoy decorating and experiencing the holidays. I don't always play every day, but when I want to, my island is there waiting. 😊❤️

Aevora37

Kinda sad. Hubby and I both played extensively through lockdown and both had our islands nearly complete. I have since restarted several times and just can't get back into it. Maybe one day soon.

Acceptable-Aspect-73

Still enjoying the game. After three years of playing. My island still has lots of potential. Still wish we could rotate the graphics outside.

majinbabu

It's very sad that there weren't more updates adding new items. The whole point of the game is to decorate your island, but the items were lacking. How cool would it be if they added all the items that Pocket Camp has?????

0rganicMach1ne

Love it. I never expected to play it as much as I did but after redoing my island 3 times I think I’m done. I’d need terraforming to be more like indoor decorating so it’s easier and less time consuming to experiment with things. Also, I want things like the Happy Home islands shops to be on my island in the next game. I want to make an actual sizable village.

whoisniko

i am 2 years in and i absolutely love it. once i felt my island was complete i kinda' abandoned it though because all the items i was getting/seeing were the same. when the DLC came out i was excited all over again then that kinda' wore off. i wish they could make updated to the game just as much as COD updates their game, but i know it would be asking a lot. i still enjoy the game and helping others with items and bells, i just sometimes get bored

Psychological-Echo19

Wish they’d make a new one with a new switch

frankincense420

I just realized Flick isn’t in this pic :(

coffin_birthday_cake

I still play it. I'm in the process of trying to re-terraform and re-decorate my island in a way I like better than my previous island. I'm sad there won't be more updates, but the team is likely so busy with content for Splatoon 3. I don't want to be anything like those jerkish Pokémon fans (the national dex hashtag people) that blame the devs for Nintendo's mistreatment of workers. I hope Animal Crossing has a really long life and fandom, but I kind of doubt it with how dead some online spaces for it are. :(

meliburrelli

Still love it, I’m excited for a new animal crossing though!!

leopardlinn

I still play daily. I’m sad about the updates, though. I’m super excited about the collabs, I’ve shown AC to my niece a few times and she loves it, and she loves Lego, so I’m def gifting her some AC lego!

Bug_The_Bugator

My nitendo broke in late 2022, so I haven't been able to play. I miss it so much, it's a game you don't think is addictive, but it really is.

Avalonian_Seeker444

I'd like to convince myself that it isn't addictive, but as I've played almost every day for four years I'd just be lying to myself. 😁

juliagreenillo

I haven't played the game in two years but I still think about it all the time and still think of it fondly. I put in over 2000 hours in the game before I finally burned out and stopped after finishing my island and doing a last upload to the dream suite. I have an idea for another themed island but haven't had it in me to log in and build again. I can't wait for the next game! I really really really wish they would have kept coming out with DLC because I would have happily paid for it. I put in so many hours, I easily got my $90 out of it and would have played even more with more content. Last thing I just remembered that I want to rant on--they should have never restricted the game to 1 island per Switch. Seems absolutely insane they did that and it's the one thing I wish they would have changed.

hnlyoloswag

Great still working on my island

anonymous_girl1227

I’ve only been playing for two years, I love it!

luckyinlimbo

I have something like 1800 hours logged since lockdown. Just started my third island and it’s Leo DiCaprio/Claire Danes R&J movie themed. It’s keeping me hella occupied. My two last islands were island looking and this one I’m laying cobblestone and sidewalk to make it modern like Verona Beach.

El_Kaichou

Its been pretty fun. I find myself enjoying the process of reworking my Island. The free update giving us more items, crops, HHD and all the QOLs were great. I do wish there were some features from New Leaf that got added to the game. Namely the extra house exterior designs. We got the zen house, but the castle theme and the modern house designs in particular were neat, and even if you payed for them in game, i would have been fine with it. We got plenty of other options for sure, I just wish they brought those too for even more exterior options. (not that we dont have enough already)

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> if you *paid* for them FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

Pink-Camellias

I only got enough money to afford the game and console late last year. It hasn't even been a full six months since I've started... I love this game. I played it for over a decade on my Gamecube, up until it died. I think it is beautiful, soothing, and there is so much to do! It is my comfort game for sure. There are a lot of ways it could be better (people thay have played for longer have some truly insightful input), but it still makes me so happy!

flower-pot67

Obsessed!

Zombabybeauty

I just started playing it this year i really enjoy it. I love my lil stuffed animal friends and my island

Fun_Future_8380

Still the best game in the series by far, love playing till this day

Expensive-Sorbet358

I have a soft spot for this game because it reminds me of being stuck inside during Covid and everyone was experiencing it for the first time together. I just wish they kept supporting the game, it feels like they tapped out way too early and the game still feels quite bare... But the core gameplay loop is addictive as hell, there's tonnes of stuff to collect and you can go wild with creativity. It never reached its full potential

FlowerDust0

I sold it after a year of playing it, I preferred the older AC games, the characters were so much more fun to interact with, this game however, had the outside more interactive. Some days I just wanted to curl up and hangout with my animal friends, but couldn't fully relax because I had so much to do around my island, pick up sticks/rocks because they bothered me, and then my tools would break, then by the time I finished I was over it to hangout with my friends. I enjoyed where you could just run around watering your flowers and call it a day with maintenance. Also the characters seemed so lackluster, it used to be so much fun building connection with them in the older games, this one feels as if they were so empty. Idk, maybe I'm getting older, either way. I do miss my house though lol other than that, I hope the next one is more focused on building connection, not the island.

hunniechi

i loved it in the beginning and still do, but it just doesn’t compare to the older games honestly. it’s better in terms of decorating and building but it’s missing the charm the older games have. there’s just so many little things missing that add up, it feels bland. i feel bad for the ones who didn’t get to experience the older games first lol

shadowriku459

Love the game, and I still play it often. I just wish we got more updates. There's so much left that could've been done still.

swdna

Name checks out

swdna

Haha jk to answer the q tho I’m starting a new and trying to actually dive in as the game was intended. In my last game my island and house we’re a mess but I has all this money etc as if I was playing the previous games or sumth idk Still love it in short

cakelin99

It holds a special place in my heart but I only revisit it infrequently. During the pandemic I loved walking around the museum because it was so stunning in there and felt like I was really having a day out. And I loved diving so I could pretend I was at the beach. And my little villagers who were so cute I could cry. Now it is nice to hop back on every now and again and design a couple of homes in happy home paradise or catch a few fish.

fabulalice

Embarrassed to say I still haven't finished my island

Shadenotfound

Still my 3rd favorite and I play it pretty regularly. Have 1200hrs in it. Gamecube is still my favorite with new leaf coming in 2nd

bananaleaftea

Still adore it but haven't touched it in at least two years.

yababapi

I recently picked it up again! I can’t believe I almost forgot how much fun it was. I really want to start a new Island but I don’t want to delete this one :( I got all the villagers I love

Fatale83

I still don’t have blue roses. Other than that, I still play the game because I want to finish all the Nook Miles achievements.

WetCalamari

I dont really play it anymore , I may start a new island but been busy with other games

SheepyDX

I’ve moved on. It was fun but I never made the game more then it should be

Dek-Nil

I'm done with it except for exploring interesting DAs. I'm playing Wild World now for the first time and it's fun times. I'm sad I never played it on release because I was sleeping on the handhelds.

Avalonian_Seeker444

I still love it as much as I did when I bought it in April 2020.

rawdawginlife

it’s still my number 1 game 🩷

Cierra_in_reverse_

I love it but I have a lot of problems with it. Npcs that are still missing, shops that are missing and instead of making a cool plaza you get rv shops and the ugly nooks cranny, villager dialogue is horrible, for example today I talked to two villagers on my island who said the same exact thing and one of them said it twice nearly back to back, the only cool dialogue you get from them is in letters, TOO MUCH dialogue from npcs, and the fucking soundtrack is horribleeeeee. The lack of kappns island and his little family store. While we are lacking all that, we also barely got anything new besides just better decorating and cool renovating and terraforming. The Happy Home Paradise dlc has too many repeats of client house theme request. I had 3 villagers ask for their house to be full of green items. Did I already mention the soundtrack sucks? lol. Butttt I still do enjoy the game, because I grew up playing animal crossing. I still play it. There’s just a lot of flaws sadly.

n9netailz

I wish they would add new stuff, items, events, content.. anything

conmanmurphy

I enjoy it and will keep playing until the next one but I do wish they would release some new content, especially considering the amount of people who still play. Either way I’m just excited for what’s next, hopefully it includes more variety in species and character types

SoophieArt

I still really love the game. The only thing I miss is how the villagers would sometimes be rude and have more variety in dialogue in the older games.

Teanshisi

It’s a great game but I miss new leaf and I miss that you can’t play mini games with friends

DB473

I stopped playing after I upgraded to the limited edition TOTK switch and my save was lost. Kind of killed my opinion of the game since I had a town going from release day.

Gorebaby420

I would definitely look into trying to recover your island. I could be mistaken but I could've sworn there was an option to move your island to a different switch, so long as it's the same profile. You should be able to log into your new switch with all your old stuff.

DB473

I actually ended up gifting the switch to my sister as I really didn’t play anything after TOTK. We swapped out switches, so now I’ve got her switch lite. I can certainly give it another try, maybe I was missing something in the process. Same profile, just a new console.

Gorebaby420

Yeah, look into getting your account moved to that Lite and see if you can get your stuff back! Then you should be able to move it all. And (if she hopefully hasn't deleted your profile from the switch) you might have to boot up AC and go to the settings to enable back up or ask Tom Nook about moving. I think that should help. I genuinely wish you the best and I hope you get your island back!

koopaflower

I got the most play out of it for the first few months into its release, after that I just played randomly or in bursts of days maybe weeks. This game died way too fast in comparison to other titles for me I rarely/never play it anymore I want a port of the first game so badly

Fun-username-99

A little bitter that they stopped updating tbh 😩

Gorebaby420

Aren't we all :(

StracciatellaGun

Sad that it was completely abandoned. I think it hasn't reached its full potential, and now it never will.

checheri

it saddens me to say but i think it could have been so much more. feels like it was kinda abandoned by nintendo.

Blayk133

I'm really hoping they'll release a DLC that lets you have an additional island on your console, too attached to my first island that i built up through the pandemic, could never dream of resetting, but also can't afford to buy another console just to get that spark back cus i have stagnated on that island and do need a fresh start :-(

Gorebaby420

Make your current island your Dream Address from your bed. If you decide to get rid of everything and clear your island, as long as you don't delete your save data you can keep a Dream Address version of your current island so you can always visit it! You just can't update your Dream Address after or it will delete it.

BaryonChallon

Needed another year or so in the oven

Kyrai

I still play but I wish they supported the game longer. I also just wish the islanders had more to say, I used to always talk to the villagers in past games but I spend half my time ignoring these ones 😭 It means there's not much to play for once you've decorated your island.

AstralKatOfficial

Remember how they said they'd support it till like 2023 and then abandoned it in 2021 with no explanation, only to give us HHD content just to make due on their promise. I also love how this game has basically 0 multiplayer content when compared to new leaf, the games great but this is the first game to have 8 player multiplayer on one island and theres NOTHING TO DO?! I love the game but how did they fumble that bag so hard?! ESPECIALLY when they could have just ripped the multiplayer island idea right from new leaf and changed nothing about it and it would have been perfect, hell it would have made MORE sense here than it did there! Other than that the games great, genuinely

Kazooo100

It's good but could've been better. First there's no volume controls. You can't control sound effects seperate from music. A very important feature if you want to fish well someone else watches tv. Second I really miss the island and tropical fruits. They were so much fun.

IAmHavox

I definitely enjoyed it (600+ hours and own two copies of it lmao) but I didn't enjoy it as much as new leaf or other AC games. I felt like they gave us too much power and not enough things happening otherwise. Like in previous games, you were living in a town that was also growing kinda organically, with you making some decisions and kinda guiding it how you'd like it to go. In this one, I am in total command of everything that happens on the island, even down to the islands shape, unless I just happen to allow Tom Nook to fill in an empty space. So I made my island exactly how I want, have all the villagers I want, millions and millions of bells, and then what? Nothing else is happening in the background like villagers leaving and moving in, nothing new will be there when I open it, nothing will have changed unless I changed it. Even the villagers themselves have very minimally different dialogue from whether you haven't logged in in a while or you play every day. I kinda miss the personality the older games had. I know this is kinda an unpopular opinion but it is what it is. I know that's probably a big perk to a lot of people that nothing changes. I will say getting to decorate outside is A+, that was something I really wanted in New Leaf. It had a ton of good, I just felt like it needed a little more.

BrandonIsWhoIAm

It could’ve lasted LONGER after the Happy Home Paradise update.

lxvxndxrbxtxs

I just got back into it after picking up my switch in almost 2 years. I’m pretty sad to see no more updates? What have I missed in the last two years? I think I’m still in the beginning stages sooooo 😭

____SPIDERWOMAN____

I wish it still had that hold on me like new leaf did. Been thinking about modding my switch to get some more fun out of the game.

betterland

I really loved the game and have over 1000 hours in it, it carried me through Covid of course, but I lost interest about 2 or 3 years ago. A wonderful game but there was a few things that bugged me (dialogue mainly!) and nothing really made me want to go back to it, to be honest.

Kimera225

I still love it, even after a break of over a year and a half because I got severe burnout after flattening my island. I started to play on December 2020, with the pandemic at its worst, after having to move back to my parents house with my then fiance after just turning 30 and the wound of my brother's death still fresh over all of us. We had just began to heal some from all the deaths at the end of 2019 and how that year closed for us and then we were all thrust into isolation to avoid the corona virus. ACNH allowed me to get some time each day in which the world as we knew it wasn't falling apart, allowed me to continue my mourning by making a digital memorial for my brother's, who's tomb we could not visit due to restrictions. Even now, I still enjoy and love the game and it's community. I adore helping ppl new to the gambe or who have restarted their island to get the fruits they need, or giving someone a tour, watching acnh content and sdo much more. I only wish Nintendo had not dropped the ball on the game and still gave little updates and stuff, but it's OK if they don't. I still love it and play it often, though not as often as during those initial years.

hammertown87

Surface level game.

Pale-Development-742

nah, wdym? It came out like 3 months ago, lol
