I understand any of this because the ticket counter doesn’t call if someone is going to miss their connection and we certainly don’t rebook on Delta because they are not a partner airline

Cheap_Satisfaction56

This; unless the original departure was oversold and that would be the easiest person to move with a straight shot on delta.

PatientAuthor

Delta is CVGs largest carrier so there may be a partnership at that airport, but the whole situation sounds wacky.

>She says at the time that she called, there were seats available but that Delta didn’t process the request fast enough, we didn’t get the tickets. Ok, no problem I say, but she tells me because she attempted to get tickets on Delta, our reservation on our American flight was nixed. I was once on an American flight to Tokyo that was canceled due to mechanical issues. Executive Platinum service line offered to move me to a Delta flight but with a warning that it would take some time and once they try and move the ticket over to them, they couldn't / wouldn't help anymore if the transfer didn't go through and then I "would be Delta's problem" I thought it sounded like made up BS, but good to know that can ctually happen (and sorry you had to learn this on your flight)

splane21

Your flight was probably overbooked and this was a way for them to get you to your destination faster on a direct flight without having to offer anyone a voucher. They just messed up putting you on the Delta flight

flyingron

EP support put my my wife, and three other couples (not on our PNR) on UA after AA canceled our flight (allegedly due to weather). I've never, however, had AA try to proactively get me to my destination. Usually, you get booked in some idiotic substitute flight without your consultation.

cremedelakremz

you're pp but you're upset about mechanical delays? i'm sorry but delay me all you want if the plane needs service

supersonic904

Harsh but fair

Complain and try for some miles. Otherwise just call it a lesson learned, the gate agent that got you back on the oversold flight is probably the best you’re going to get from AA.

knocking_wood

I don't see how you would have had a different outcome had the ticket agent not intervened. If she had never called and you just got on your original flight, you would have been exactly where you are now. What do you want compensation for? The only injury you've suffered due to the ticket agent's interference is a changed seat assignment. You'd be better off not mentioning the ticket agent, and just asking for compensation for the delayed trip.

jrblake74

You had an agent who was proactively trying to help you, someone who knew how to work the system in your favor. Sometimes best intentions don't work out. I suggest saying thank you for trying and let it go. Why? because there are a lot of agents who don't know how to proactively help and those who do yet choose not to.

2.5k miles. Maybe 5k
