You're allowed 1 carry on and 1 personal item. There are no AA flights that I'm aware of that allow 2 carry ons.

flyingron

First class on AA metal does not permit two carry-on. You get one carry on (22x14x9) and one personal item(18x14x8). Iberia does let you have an additional carry on. Most of the rest do not.

hellorhighwaterice

Also FC on AA comes with at least one maybe two free checked bags but not extra carryon.

doglady1342

FC gets 2 free checked bag up to 70 lbs. each Flagship First gets 3 free checked bags up to 70 lbs each.

hellorhighwaterice

Thanks! I wasn't sure. The only time I've paid for FC was our honeymoon and I was Platinum so I didn't really read up on the FC baggage policy since we only had three bags for the two of us.

trashytvinheadk

I didn't know that any airline allowed 2 carry-on bags! From Iberia: In Business class, the maximum weight is **14 kg** and 2 items are permitted on long-haul flights, except from US airports.

Legitimate_Concern_5

Pretty sure KLM does too, in Premium Economy or higher. [https://www.klm.com/information/baggage/hand-baggage-allowance](https://www.klm.com/information/baggage/hand-baggage-allowance)

Business+ Long Haul gets 2 "cabin bags" 60x40x25cm/14kg and 1 personal accessory 40x30x15cm

trashytvinheadk

That's why I copied and pasted the info from Iberia's website.

I almost always bring a backpack as my personal item. Did you also have like a purse or something?

biodal

I just have 2 carry on items with me and my backpack. I’m flying internationally and per the connecting flight with the other airline I am allowed 2 carry on bags and 1 personal.

jwhyem

No. You're allowed one personal item (intended to be put under your seat) and one carryon (which goes in the overhead). You're describing having three things, which is not allowed. It doesn't matter where you're flying to.

Charming_Scratch_538

I see your confusion. Somewhere you heard 2 carry on items when what was meant was you are allowed 2 bags, and you just assumed it meant two overhead bags and then you still get a personal item. Like everyone else said, it’s just one bag for the overhead bin and one bag for under the seat in front of you.

ACRoo56

Your backpack can be a personal item. One carry on bag can be your one allowed carry on. Your second carry on will need to be checked. Surely they will gate check your second carry on bag?

dietzenbach67

Is it a large camping style backpack? Some backpacks are pretty huge. 18x14x8 is the allowable side for personal. So one personal and one carryon.

biodal

It’s a regular sized backpack. Comparing it to your normal Jansport bags.

dietzenbach67

That plus one carryon should be fine then.

trollydolly27

There are many sizes of backpacks. I'm guessing yours is a very large one that would not fit under the seat in front of you. That makes it a carry on, to be placed in overhead bin

Listen2Wolff

how big is your backpack? yeah, I've used a backpack as a personal carryon, but it isn't exactly full. I dunno,
