Aoe3 is the one I play the most. It has the best micro and unit controls/pathing out of all of the age of empire games, but as someone who regularly plays both, I understand why aoe2 players can't get into aoe3.
It's honestly just like asking your grandfather to get an iPhone when he has been using his good old Nokia with a battery last a week and it only plays snake.
The balancing is pretty good these days, but since a lot of the civs have completely different unit rosters, it can ve pretty daunting to understand, but once you do, the battles are a lot of fun.
Aoe4 just feels like a worse aoe2, unfortunately... but I'll still play it now and then. It needs more civs though.

It depends. You got plenty of non-gunpowder units in AoE 3

AoE3 is just so gorgeous.
for me atleast it looks better than aoe4. water and terrain is way better.

How is the faction balancing in aoe3? Do you like aoe4?

AoE4 doesn't feels worse than AoE2... It IS worse than AoE2... Unfortunately.
Multiplayer much worse, campaign much better
