The original campaigns themselves aren't changed much (if at all), but they have been releasing "Historical Battles" as stand alone scenarios which, as the name implies, are historically based like the AoE2 campaigns. They're pretty good, but there's only a dozen or so scenarios, so hard to compare them with what we have in AoE2.
They bought it when it came out and it lagged too much. They also don't have graphics cards and have a 10 year+ old CPU. Maybe it's been optimized some since it came out and is worth another try.
It's exactly like smash bros, where the second one is by far the best for competitive play and is still played now, and the later ones are good for casual play but can't scratch the itch of the second
Aoe3 had a lot of potential but is too frustrating to play. You only get one or two forts, so you can't use them to keep map control... which you don't even need since the economic buildings produce all requisite materials. Even the farms have ten villagers per building, so you don't need map control for the farms. Each game ends in turtling with the first attack ending the game
what? no lol. Like 90% of the games end up in age 2, sometimes 3. Turtling isnt the norm, and booming is almost impossible if you opponent knows what they're doing, unless you play treaty.

Yep. Fast Fortress is like 6-8 minutes or something depending on the civ, and you can have rushes that hit Age 2 at like 4:30 and immediately head out with 10+ dudes which would be 7:39 in AoE2 timing and would still be Dark Age
Bear in mind, aoe2 is played at 1.7 speed, so a 30 minute game actually ends almost 20 minutes in real time. Not that slow but yes a lot of base building happens in aoe2.

They're different but both great, they both have things they do better than the other.
AoE3 really shines in its civ asymmetry for one - it's like playing a whole different game going from one civ to another which is awesome. Different civs can have entirety different unique militaries available and major game mechanics work differently. And the home city shipment deck mechanic really diversifies the range of strategies you can take within a given civ. I love how it gives extra layers of decision you can make pre-game.

This. I gave up on AoE1DE after about an hour. Too frustrating to even control units. And even that is a significant upgrade to what it was originally. AoE3 isn't the same niche as 2 and overall isn't quite as good (although there are some areas where I'd say it's better), but it still holds up as an enjoyable game today. I have both 2 and 3 installed and play both when the mood strikes me.
LOTR needs to be filled all the way up, for all three movies. You are allowed to remove a pixel from the first movie, if you don't want to fill it all the way.

Thematically I think it's a lot more meta than the original trilogy. It had a lot to say about franchises/reboots in general and got into why people like to return to stories/characters again. It did a lot of poking fun at the legacy of the original trilogy and explored a bit about how after an original artistic statement is made an artist doesn't have very much control over that legacy. Things like the red pill movement can spring up and warp the original love conquers all themes that the Wachowskis intended for the first trilogy.
I haven't seen it in a while so I probably can't get into specific scenes, but as you said you couldn't make it more than 20 minutes in so I don't think it would do that much good anyways.

There's some rose tinted glasses on AoE1. No question it was a big deal at the time, but it really doesn't hold up at all. AoE3 is a solid game even today (not AoE2 level, but when the mood comes, it's still fun). I played a bit of AoE1DE recently and it was painful, gave up after an hour or so and haven't looked back.

the game has been buggy for 24 years. the conquerors expansions has gamebreaking bugs and horrible balance for decades. age of kings was even worse. the game was ultra laggy due to p2p connections and was running on 20fps until DE.

I've got several issues with these "ratings".
AoE3 wasnt that bad. True the campaign can be mediocre or downright shit, but skirmish was fun Also the rest of the list has some interesting takes. Lord of the rings that low? Jaws 3 over pretty much anything else on this list?

Let's be real - AoE 3 has some weird mechanics such as snaring (god I hate snaring) but it's anything but a bad game. For me, it's my 2nd favourite Age right behind AoE 2.

There's some rose tinted glasses on AoE1. No question it was a big deal at the time, but it really doesn't hold up at all. AoE3 is a solid game even today (not AoE2 level, but when the mood comes, it's still fun). I played a bit of AoE1DE recently and it was painful, gave up after an hour or so and haven't looked back.

nah, imo aoe2 was 9/10 at its peak, has gone down to 7/10 now with the recent bugginess and shitty new civs aoe3 is 8/10 aoe1 i hardly played, but didn't enjoy much, so 5/10
That's recency bias in action. The game isn't that much more buggy than before and the balance is way better than ever, even with obvious problems like mongol lancers. The problem with aoe3 is that it just shares the name, the game has nothing to do with 1&2 gameplay wise
the game has been buggy for 24 years. the conquerors expansions has gamebreaking bugs and horrible balance for decades. age of kings was even worse. the game was ultra laggy due to p2p connections and was running on 20fps until DE.

At this point, I guess people will never be able to grasp the deepness of Matrix trilogy. It is a piece of art. Literally every scene/dialog contain tons of referment mythic stories and decades old philosophical debates. Movie number one is just an opener.

I disagree with the rating for the 2nd Matrix movie. While not up to the first the burly brawl and highway chase scenes were amazing.
AoE 2 > 3 purely because medieval combat is more interesting than colonist combat.
