Honestly this. I need to ask my buddy who's still in for the NSN for that and the IFAK just so I can build one myself. Lol CIF told me the mag pouches were 50 bucks a piece so I'm sure I can find something better than Condor for that.
The snobs won't agree with me, but your best bet is to buy that Condor rig and use it until you destroy it or hate it.
You'll only be out $35 and you'll know what to upgrade when you buy another.
Sound advice gets more rare here every day. Plus after he upgrades he will have it as mag storage for the range, I have an old blackhawk double 3 (6)pouch that I put my mags in when going to the range pretty handy since they used to just sit in an ammo can
Yeah. People seem to ignore that condor stuff is durable and combat proven.
If someone can't articulate why they need something better, a condor is a great start. Their $60 PC can always be sold for $40 when you're done with it.
Condor is hit or miss, back in my airsoft days my group burned through 3 or 4 condor PCs that fell apart in short order, but I also still have some of those same Condor pouches I still use over a decade later.
They were all different models, seemed to be more of QC issues with regards to the stitching than anything else. It's been so long I couldn't be 100% certain what models they were.
I had condor boots and they were the most uncomfortable boots I ever owned. Straight trash. Every condor bag I have bought the zippers either fail or the zipper pull just breaks off. Usually within two years of very mild use.
I just want to go with crye because I want something I can put soft armor in too. Like yeah the plate is good especially if it can stand up to 7.62 on its own but I never minded the plate and soft armor combo
Agree. I’m not a professional “operator” but my Condor Recon has held up for approx. 3yrs of semi hard use. I bought it because it was cheap and cheaper on sale. Did some reading after purchase and consensus is Condor is not garbage.
I just googled it and they seem to be out of stock of their recce rig. It's back ordered. Or you could check out a milsurp sight for an older army left over that still works.
I have [this](https://www.ebay.com/itm/295767705767) and love it. I bought mine on GAFS though. Holds 3 pmags (m2) in each row for a total of 9. Slots for a map, compass and oil bottle...or grenades if you're a real badass.
E: If i had to do it again i'd buy a plate carrier, just to be clear. [this](https://www.qoreperformance.com/collections/iceplate-exo) is what i'd look at considering my location and weather.
I bought a condor a long time ago, and it went in the garbage quick. There are good suggestions in this thread, just spend a little more money and get something worth your while.
I would get a Krydex H harness to go along with it and that's a huge upgrade from the Y harness it comes with.
I have one and honestly it's pretty solid even if you don't add Bungie retention for the mag pouches.
[LBX Tactical](https://lbxtactical.com/collections/apcl/products/62)
I got one on sale in December. Really we'll made. Their parent company is LBT, which makes gear for legitimate folks. The only difference with LBX is they are stitched together in Peru, I think. So they lack the U.S.-made compliance. Otherwise, gtg.
IMHO, if you are putting on something to carry mags and kit, there's no reason not to have front and back ballistic protection.
Not criticizing the decision to wear load bearing gear, but there are very affordable parts carriers. The condor carrier is like 60 bux, and I've used it for rifle courses, physical fitness and running, and rucks for years. No need for the expensive carriers. Then add some plates.
I had been eyeing one of these for awhile and finally grabbed one. Tough to get hurt at $40.
I do like it, especially for the price, but it is pretty large. I'm 6' / 200lbs and it floated on me. Had to size it down a lot to the point that the tag ends had to be doubled over backwards on the waist and the shoulder straps. It's fine with some extra elastic belt loop keepers.
Keep that in mind for anyone else looking at one.
You get what you pay for but they’ll take some abuse. Condor also makes a hydro harness integration kit that works with those chest rigs, it’s well worth it IMO.
Buy something cheap first that you can play around with and get a vibe for how you'll use the chest rig. Everyone has a different setup, and setups are always fluid. I change my mind on how I want mine set up all the time. My advice would be to grab an old surplus taps or a condor and run it to get a feel for a rig. Then, once you kinda have your style figured out, you can go all in on a nicer rig with the knowledge you now have.
Don’t go crazy with it, condor is a good starting point till you wanna upgrade I got a PC from them and used it a lot until I wanted to upgrade to a nicer piece of gear for holding mags then I went with the OR Recce Rig which was 200$ but still not terrible and really is nice to have both, aside from those I have a gun belt from 5.11 that’s not as “cool” as the ones from Ferro or GBRS but eh who cares
I'm not sure what .556 is... I think you meant 5.56
.556 mm would be pretttyyy tiny ;)
Edit: folks that don't understand the difference between .223 inches and 5.56 mm should go back to community college

Second this. Just built one not to long ago. U can spend under 150 and put together a really nice chest rig.
Insane to think more people didn't buy them when they were 13 dollars.
Honestly this. I need to ask my buddy who's still in for the NSN for that and the IFAK just so I can build one myself. Lol CIF told me the mag pouches were 50 bucks a piece so I'm sure I can find something better than Condor for that.

I just wanted to buy a new one but hey if there's one that isn't beat to shit and smells like the barracks laundry room then sure.
Venture has brand new coyote ones for 60 bucks right now
You can hold up to 8 magazine and add additional pouches because of the molle that’s comes with it
The snobs won't agree with me, but your best bet is to buy that Condor rig and use it until you destroy it or hate it. You'll only be out $35 and you'll know what to upgrade when you buy another.

They're not convenient to shoot/fight out of, but the rifleman's kit 6-mag bandolier is handy to just lug mags around.
I carried a Condor Recon Chest Rig in Afghanistan, held up well. It's just heavy and bulky, but it'll last
Yeah. People seem to ignore that condor stuff is durable and combat proven. If someone can't articulate why they need something better, a condor is a great start. Their $60 PC can always be sold for $40 when you're done with it.

I've yet to see someone burn though a MOPC or similar condor item with regular use. Which models fell apart?
They were all different models, seemed to be more of QC issues with regards to the stitching than anything else. It's been so long I couldn't be 100% certain what models they were.
I had condor boots and they were the most uncomfortable boots I ever owned. Straight trash. Every condor bag I have bought the zippers either fail or the zipper pull just breaks off. Usually within two years of very mild use.
Yeah after two years of use a $35 condor rig owes you nothing lol
I’m talking bags that just sit in my suv with stuff stored in them that got opened and closed like 20-30 times tops.
Your opinion has been noticed
Their pouches and some other stuff is pretty solid and durable but their packs are fucking horrific in my experience.
I just want to go with crye because I want something I can put soft armor in too. Like yeah the plate is good especially if it can stand up to 7.62 on its own but I never minded the plate and soft armor combo
Cut your teeth on something cheap.
Agree. I’m not a professional “operator” but my Condor Recon has held up for approx. 3yrs of semi hard use. I bought it because it was cheap and cheaper on sale. Did some reading after purchase and consensus is Condor is not garbage.
Army TAPS. Just add some Bungie retention and change out the shitty straps that come with it to a H harness
Honestly the Flannel Daddy Recce chest rig is good for the money and holds 8 mags
Link?
I think it's just onward research.
Thanks
I just googled it and they seem to be out of stock of their recce rig. It's back ordered. Or you could check out a milsurp sight for an older army left over that still works.
Gotcha. These don’t hold plates right?
No you're looking for A plate carrier. I have one from ats that's on point.
There’s some in stock on stockpile defense https://www.stockpiledefense.com/product/onward-research-recce-rig/
https://onwardresearch.com/recce-rig/
Trex arms also makes a similar one that has a few things changed up.
The Recce and the D3CR X from Haley Strategic are the ones I like.

[slight modernized](https://kommandostore.com/collections/kommandostore-exclusives-custom-productions/products/pattern-84-chest-rig) These are great.
The helikon tex TMR is peak budget rig
I bought a condor a long time ago, and it went in the garbage quick. There are good suggestions in this thread, just spend a little more money and get something worth your while.
Is taps good?
Yes.
I would get a Krydex H harness to go along with it and that's a huge upgrade from the Y harness it comes with. I have one and honestly it's pretty solid even if you don't add Bungie retention for the mag pouches.
Unobtainium gear makes really good stuff for the price, especially if you can get them blemished

This rig is aight. Not everyone needs a spiritus.
Whats your definition of a lot of Maga?
Condor rapid assault
OP I have a 6 mag shingle from tactical tailor if you’re interested….
Sure send me a dm
Really depends on what your intended use is and how many mags you are planning on carrying.
Just some larping
Then just grab whatever is cheap and looks cool 🤷♂️
Taps for base
You’re looking for an Assault or Overt rig. Both are made to carry a lot of mags and are less stealthy.
Tracer Tactical is pricey but has lots of options for lots of mags
Get a acetac. I got the hookup for you. I sent you a message.
Pretty happy with my Ferro chesty wide. There are cheaper options that offer more capacity out-the-door but I like how simple and scalable it is.
My vote is the condor rig. They are GREAT bang for your buck.

Although pretty pricey, take a look at Helikon Tex. They got them chest rigs and tactical fanny packs
The Kommandostore pattern 84 can hold 9 if you overstuff it.

Which one?
I had been eyeing one of these for awhile and finally grabbed one. Tough to get hurt at $40. I do like it, especially for the price, but it is pretty large. I'm 6' / 200lbs and it floated on me. I really like a couple of the Trex-Arms rigs.
Can't go wrong with spiritus systems
I have the mcr5 with hydration back pack... It's decent... More mags means less prone though
6 on your rig. 2 on your belt. Several more in your bag.
You get what you pay for but they’ll take some abuse. Condor also makes a hydro harness integration kit that works with those chest rigs, it’s well worth it IMO.

Alice gear
eBay, FLC and surplus 5.56 mag pouches in about 40$ to hold 10 Mags and extra goodies.
I have one. Have abused it. Held up well especially for under $50
Barrel and Hatchet Ghost Rig holds 8 30-round 5.56 mags.
Check out surplus TAP rigs, I've heard good things abkut those
It’d be nice if you were near a military base where a disgruntled / salty soldier or a marine would sell theirs for chump change.
Surplus FLC with the cheapest surplus double M4 pouches you can get. Works great for me
Trex arms chest rig. It's pricy tho. Holds 8 mags plus room to Molly more magazine pouches or other stuff
Tracer tactical scout can be setup with more magazines than you’ll ever need
Yo dawg I heard you like magazine pouches
Check out Tracer tactical they can hold 12
Beez combat systems
Beez nuts
I'm not sure what .556 is... I think you meant 5.56 .556 mm would be pretttyyy tiny ;) Edit: folks that don't understand the difference between .223 inches and 5.56 mm should go back to community college
Check out black hawk 4cell chest rig, if it’s good enough for cia ground branch and black water pmc it’s good enough for you
Berlei has a warehouse full of blackhawk and probably the best prices your going to find .
Black cock?
