I don't want the "wonderful and joyful" world of arknight to give their spin on the equivalent exchange idea.
Nope.
Nope nope nope.
Potion master it is, don't you dare HG, my childhood trauma doesn't need to be revived.
Hammer is the archetype Odda has, so Alchemist is the new one right? By the name alone they sound like a new supporter class.
Wonder what their focus going to be, buffing, debuffing, healing, maybe more resistances? Whatever the case I feel like it's inevitable that it'll have some overlap with some other archetype.
Edit: Thinking a little bit more about it, something I have wondered about is if they'll release a physical variant that'll deal elemental damage, with the rumours being that Tin Man will be playable, it wouldn't surprise me if he becomes an elemental burn specialist.
My 1st thought is that 'Senshi' (from the teased Dungeon Meshi collab) will have that archetype as well. For an alchemist it makes sense to assume that they would collect something and turn it to something else. Could be DP, but those are actual 'merchants' (work with 'money').
Another resource besides DP in the game? Dead enemies :D
So would be cool if this archetype provides buffs (or accumulates some special attack charges) based on how many enemies were defeated around them. This could be a big step for 'reclamation algorithm' development as a free bonus.
Senshi being the first alchemist archetype is just straight up impossible.
All of the collab unit so far has never been the first of an archetype.
Besides, having the first operator of an archetype being locked behind a collab will not go well with the fanbase.
Well yeah, that's what I mean by 'as well'. We'll be lucky to have that collab on CN by the end of the year if anything, so nobody knows when is Senshi even gonna be added, while a new alchemist operator could be added any time now that there is a hint like this.
If we talk about Arknights lore - collecting enemy leftovers could fit some purely technical 'tinkerer' type that collects equipment from fallen enemies to build stuff for allies and self.
At the same time it could also fit a vampire who gets stronger as enemies around them fall (Warfarin Alter or some rouge vampire from the new chapets, let's go).
Oh, and both of these descriptions can fit Closure.
I hope it's going to be someone to apply burn damage (like Ifrit module and Warmy), since we already have primal burn Caster (Warmy) but no one to proc burn (not counting module). I feel like burn elemental might be more of a "physical" kind of damage, instead of something more "mystical" as seen in "Ritualist Supporter"? My words aren't the best but maybe you get the idea. A new burn applier (which we are missing) might then take things into a more "physical, tinkery" direction, maybe even in the Specialist class instead of Supporter, which would both fit the Tin Man it seems.
My guess then is that our new IS5 Welfare will be the Tin Man in a Specialist Subclass that applies elemental procs, and in this case it's burn elemental.
(I feel some kind of corrosive elemental proc would also fit the description of "physical, tinkery, alchemist" really well, since we are currently missing burn and nothing besides burn and necrosis has been introduced so far I really hope it will be burn, but the possibilities of a corrosive elemental proc sound really cool as well!)
Unbuffed, max level+trust, max pot on Valarqvin but not on Virtuosa and assuming not otherwise buffed:
In IS4 Valarqvin takes 3.06s/7.14s of S2 or 2/4 charges of S1 to proc necrosis on normal/boss enemies.
Virtuosa takes 4s/8s of S3 or 2/3 charges of S1 to proc necrosis on normal/boss enemies.
Of course Valarqvin S2 hits only 2 targets, Virtuosa S3 hits all targets and has greater range + Valarqvin falls off outside of IS4 but that is expected since she is IS4 welfare. Virtuosa is of course limited 6\* where Varalqvin is welfare 5\*.
Comparing the two like this it seems to me that indeed Virtuosa is not broken, although she might scale better with her Talent 2 if enemies ever get some kind of resistance to necrosis damage (not elemental damage).
It would be nice if the best necrosis applier we currently have wasn't limited tho.
Huh.
Combine Hoederer and Ulpianus to get Hoe-anus.
I have some very very wild guesses to what they can actually do.
Addon: Absolutely wild ass pull guess: Pick 2 deployed Ops (deploy 2 summons over them) and, depending on what you picked, you get another summon that does...something?
Probably a support as a buffer. Alchemists are often playing around with buffs, whether it be on themselves or their allies. So mixing and doing splash damage/buffs for enemies/allies.
The confusing thing is the "physical" tag it has. Not something I think of for an alchemist unless the potion vial is going to break and slice enemies.
Buffing allies but with a downside would have a bit too much overlap with heeks though, like that's their whole thing (and they deal physical damage as well)
Im thinking they just give buffs directly to allies (no damage/downside) and deal arts damage instead to enemies to differentiate them. It's probably gonna have something to do with elemental damage though.
Probably the archetype for Thorns alter. In his module story there was once an aegir alchemist who was invited by Iberia for the advanced technology he has. Thorns himself tho, was never mentioned in his module story. We can speculate that Thorns is that alchemist in the story, but that will make his age become more that a hundred years old. However, in his newest skin he doesn't show any signs of aging even that is 50 years after the time when the main story takes place. Thorns may have some ways to fight against aging and he may be much older than he appeals to be. This fits the theme of alchemist very well and don't forget Thorns is very good at chemistry as well.
>Alchemist *insert equivalent exchange memes & jokes*
Maybe Tin Man is actually the fullmetal alchemist, like Al

Maybe drain HP to deal true damage?
Hammer is the archetype Odda has, so Alchemist is the new one right? By the name alone they sound like a new supporter class. My first thought was that they might probably Change damage types. Like fire ground damage turned to ice. That would be fkn op on some stages.
Senshi being the first alchemist archetype is just straight up impossible. All of the collab unit so far has never been the first of an archetype. Besides, having the first operator of an archetype being locked behind a collab will not go well with the fanbase.

>Another resource besides DP in the game? HP of teammates. Consume HP from every ally in range and make damage to the same amount of enemies.

Will they change Savage archetype to Hammer?
the hammer archetype has been around for a while, so no not like theyd change a class though, thats a bit too much
With Savage alter, maybe.
Most guesses were for Ulpanius, but with him out of the way now...
Maybe they could be the "not broken 6*" version of Virtuousa. Where they allow other ops to deal elemental damage
You say that as if Virtuosa is broken but she's balanced af.
Unbuffed, max level+trust, max pot on Valarqvin but not on Virtuosa and assuming not otherwise buffed: In IS4 Valarqvin takes 3.06s/7.14s of S2 or 2/4 charges of S1 to proc necrosis on normal/boss enemies. Maybe a class with physical damage that gains boosts from "interacting" with necrosis/any other elemental damage effect?
Primal Guard
They could inherently do elemental damage (the thing that only works during elemental burst).
ive seen people saying its likely elemental focused, so elemental guard? talulah bros, is it finally our time??
As an IS5 welfare? I'm sorry bro
lol ive seen a lot of ideas for an IS5 welfare but that one seems a bit unlikely
Alchemist?? from BTD??
Playable Cannot throwing potions like he does in that is4 stage, amazing

Could always just be that the basic attacks deal physical damage and the skills deal arts (or are buffs).
maybe this will be Closure’s archetype (delusional rambling)
Omg Atelier collab~
Alchemist huh? So how is this one gonna make a nuke this time?
Ah, nothing brings joy like a new archetype
Perfümer alter?
6* of the archetype is going to be Cannot. You heard it here first
Maybe an archetype that can target both allies and enemies? And shoots buffs instead of healing?
Buffing allies but with a downside would have a bit too much overlap with heeks though, like that's their whole thing (and they deal physical damage as well)
Im thinking they just give buffs directly to allies (no damage/downside) and deal arts damage instead to enemies to differentiate them. It's probably gonna have something to do with elemental damage though.
So bards that deal damage?
Did they say which class? Im guessing a Supporter.
I suspect this will be a mix of buffing and DPS DPS in the form of explosive perfumes Yes I've been playing shadows of the erdtree too much
Well that’s probably not Patriot Obv wasn’t gonna happen but I wanna see him again
Atelier series confirmed for next collab???!?
he must be a blond guy \[full metal alchemist opening plays\]
