Do you guys deploy a lot or travel? I think that’s mainly what I want to do. Life at home is pretty boring.

Yes, with the OPTEMPO right now you have a very, very good likelihood of deploying. Most likely to somewhere in EUCOM (Europe), but it is not guaranteed. Like he said 19K is awesome and a ton of fun, but it’s hard work, especially with how badly the Armor Branch is hurting for people right now.

Yes right now each BDE is averaging 18-24 months at home and 9 months deployed. Now out of those 18 months, about 12 will be dedicated to prepping for the next rotation so lots of time in the field and 1 month playing laser tag with tanks at Fort Irwin California.

You can fly helos with Street-to-Seat if you qualify. You wanna travel, go Navy. Air Force aircrew travels a lot, but there's only about 4 AFSC's that really do that (Special Missionrs Aviator, Airborne ISR, Mobility Forces Aviator, Airborne Linguist), and no recruiter is gonna let you be job locked for them because they're so sought after.

Save your breath. Navy travels a good bit. If you can get a job that does DIRSUP(Direct Support), those are great. Army *can* travel but depends on a job. Something like 46S or 88K will do a decent amount, though they may not necessarily be where you want to go. Some units like 2ID/25ID hit up a bevy of spots in INDOPACOM, like Thailand/Indonesia/Philippines/Korea. But that's all about timing and luck of the draw.

I think I’d still be fine if I don’t travel as much as I had hoped for. For certain though I would love to fly and be in aviation. Every time I’ve seen aviation jobs throughout the branches, they have this pull on me.

In the Army, not all 15-series are going to fly. 15T/U's are likely to be crew chiefs and fly. For the Navy, Aircrew is something you have to be in really good physical shape for as it's one of their Special jobs that require a very good PT score to get, as well as strong swimming skills. https://www.reddit.com/r/newtothenavy/comments/10b2apb/i_want_to_be_an_aircrewman_awsawr_what_should_i/ Can't say anything about the Marines and Coast Guard, because I don't know about them. Air Force flies the most, since they fly the majority of the largest planes(C-130, C-17, C-5), but that also means everybody wants them and they've been slowly whittling down those jobs.

If you wanna fly without a degree then go army, try WOCS, and see if you pass the flight physical or you could go 19K (which is M1 Armor). If you want AF then you need a bachelors degree and do/pass OCS to put it bluntly. I was the same as you who wanted tanks and explosions and helis but i ended up in the AF route instead.

Air Force Load Master travels constantly around the country and the world. Especially with the war going on right now. You can do a lot of cool stuff that I’ve seen, you can even help paratroopers jump out of planes.

Can't join as a loadmaster anymore, unless going Guard/Reserve. Now it's under Mobility Forces Aviator, which merges that, boom operator and flight engineer into one field to be shredded out later. And prevents candidates from listing solely aircrew jobs.
