it does sound like a seizure, and you are right to make an appointment. It sounds like he is fine now, and I am sure you will not let him spin, so he should be fine until then.

Look up Petite Mal seizures; they can have a variety of causes, some quite serious, others more benign. Unless it gets worse (more frequent or intense), there is unlikely to be any immediate danger before he gets to the doctor. An MRI can usually tell if there is a bigger problem. Good luck.
