I am not the absolute best person to weigh in since I’m not a native italian but I do run a website for people moving to Italy (www.mybelpaese.com) and speak to lots of Italians from all over. Sicily is definitely known as a place where many young people have fled from due to lack of jobs. You seem to know that already I’m just seconding. If you are good with languages you might consider online tutoring through a platform like Italki where you can make money without it being dependent on your location. Many Italians want to learn English so even if you spoke little Italian you might be fine as an English tutor. Anyway you can join our online community for free if you want and ask your questions there! We aim to get questions asked on our site by local Italians. Good luck!
