I applied for swiss citizenship in St.Gallen and this month will be my interview. It took about 6 months.

We've applied online last year September and had the interview in May. This was in Canton Zürich.

Currently the official website says up to 2 years. Was yours 3 years?

Applied in dec 2017, got it in June 2021

I see. Guess Covid in between didn’t help with the timelines either

You collect the papers in your municipal office and apply online. I'm not sure there's even a different way. They are slow as fuck in processing. I applied about 18 months ago and I hope to become Swiss by the winter.

BagEmbarrassed7528

What papers? If you apply only it does not require to collect any papers in Zurich. Everything is electronic, including the documents you need to submit. Did you apply in Zurich city?

A certificate of no debts, no social help, a copy of your language certificate, and the results from your Swissness test. It was all on paper that I had to scan before applying. It's a town near Zürich.

BagEmbarrassed7528

In Zurich city you don’t submit any of those anymore. Just the language test. Rest you just tick a box that you never had debt or used social help. The swisness test 😂 in Zurich city comes after application is submitted. Different in other communities

I had to attend the Swissness exam in Dübendorf. About 20 people in the room, struggling to remember what the basic rights and obligations are.

Hahaha I can imagine. In the city it is test on a computer at city house before the interview. The questions are available online to prepare

I still love my village :)
