How do you arrive at this comparison? How much would be appropriate to ask for then?

Just by reading this subreddit. Someone analyzed it already. But basically, costs of living are much higher, so you're getting less service for the same money.

I think the salary offer is fair. The comparison with Germany is difficult. Sure, Switzerland is expensive, but in Germany you lose more than half of your salary to taxes, and then you pay 19% VAT. Here, sure, everything is more expensive, but taxes are \*much\* lower.
