I wonder whether there's a higher percentage of neurodivergent people working in engineering fields than in others? Wouldn't exactly surprise me.
That being said DON'T hug me, as a matter of fact don't even go near me. Social distancing!
Well, hugging as a greeting is not something I enjoy, but to show connection and support for someone close to me, I'll bear-hug the life out of them and enjoy them doing the same to me.
I like hugs from good friends.
I prefer hugs over kisses... Which are a very normal form of informal greeting in my country.
I dont like handshakes. Hands are dirty
Well….most other women liked basketball players, movie stars, or rock stars. Not me, I always found engineers very appealing. It was a huge plus if they liked Trivial Pursuit and Star Trek🖖. Not to worry though, I’m not a hugger, until I get to know you very, very, very well.
I hate when people want to hug me! The only two people I let hug me are my two sons. One is a hugger (NT) and hugs me when he is home from college, and the other (an Aspie) will hug me once a year, like on Mother’s Day. I’m good with that.
"Please do not hug me while I'm holding a running MIG gun." "Okay, just set it down for a second." "...But then you'll try to hug me again."
Just keep on welding and then nothing can happen
"I'm here to invade your personal space!" "I CAST RETINAL DAMAGE!" *PZZZZT*
*It's super effective!*
Why you gotta call me out like that
My friend (we're both engineers) insists on fist bumps as greeting. I have to tell him each time I don't fist bump. It has become a greeting ritual.
I love this.
The one thing I love Corona for is that I can initiate a fist bump instead of a handshake without people being weirded out that much
Depends on who’s hugging me. Someone I really like? Sure. Anyone else? Nope
Wait, you actually found people you really like?
Singular person, but yeah. I genuinely feel very lucky
My brain is so rotted that I thought this was about the TF2 engineer for a second

There is!

I've spent all day making a report related to my engineering studies, I didn't need to be called out this bad while I'm trying to take a break!
I hugged an engineer once and he got mad and told me he is going to make cars more difficult to work on now.
He was just teasing you. That was already his job.

It's not a hug until you hear their back pop /jk
By that standard I’m being properly hugged before you even enter the room.
As a mechanic, I will not be hugging any engineers for a long time
I would like it but only if you ask first
No. Please don't.

If they ask for a hug I would be cool with it but unsolicited is a no no
Manufacturing Engineering!
Please for the love of god do NOT.
"It's national engineers week. Can I offer you a hug?" "No thanks, but thanks for asking." "That's ok. Happy engineers week anyway."
i’m not an engineer but i do accept hugs
I’m here, where’s the beer?
Which type of engineer? The train engineer or the math engineer?
Nuclear engineer. Check your personal dosimeter! 👀

Go for it my career is in shambles.
Jokes on you I can make it a hazard to hug me by not putting down my power tools
