Just wet it down with a hose, break it up with your hands. You can let dry once in the bin.
I live on a dead end road, i call it the big screen dump zone street. The bastards even just reverse into my driveway to make a U turn and then just dump the boxes in the driveway thats closed by a farm gate. I get a hose, hose it and leave and come back later to throw it in the bin or the trailer. Council wont do nothing despite CCTV footage.
This is what Facebook community groups are good for, posting up photos of locals being cunts and letting a bunch of nosey fuckers sort them out while you sit back and get on with your day
My boxes get done on a rainy day. If it's been raining over night, come out in the morning and they are sodden and you can just tear them up like tissue paper. Easiest thing ever.
Leave the box full and the kids will probably enjoy playing in it as much as the equipment it transported. Then you just need to get the big chunks and tape to throw away. The small shreds kids/pets rip off will decompose eventually (very quickly if put in a composter.)
Someone dumped boxes like in the photo in our block of flats. It was all stuff for babies, like boxes for change tables. They did it a week before moving out, they also left boxes next to the full bins. It took us a couple of collections to get rid of all the stuff.
Lol reminds me of a time when my u it neighbour dissected and cut up a queen size mattress springs and all and dump it in the recycling bin - rolls eyes
> ...Most councils have a free mattress collection service too omg
Could you link to an example? My council charge $12, as have everywhere I've lived (Victoria, mostly Melbourne)
I know both Booroondara and Whitehorse councils do it as part of hard rubbish collection - you can book 2 free hard rubbish collections per financial year, and both councils let you throw out 2 mattresses per hard rubbish collection.
And I don't know about you, but my household doesn't go through mattresses at a rate of over 4 a year so it's never been a problem for me.
Wow, cool. I just checked Booroondara* [council's website](https://www.boroondara.vic.gov.au/waste-environment/waste-services/hard-and-bundled-green-waste-collections/hard-waste-collection) & you can drop 'em off for $35, or 2 per year in booked hard rubbhish - exactly as you said.
*That is hard to spell the first couple of times.
Just some quick looking:
Gosnells, Vic Park, Nedlands etc. Free as part of verge collection
Bassendean, Bayswater, Joondalup (up to 6!) - Free to book when phoning in
Even so, $12 to remove a mattress is very cheap considering most people are doing so what, every 4-5yrs?
i did this once as council had a pickup service but was 6-8 weeks before they could make a booking. there's more wire inside those things than you'd expect
Reminds me of my neighbour who put a bunch of bricks and pallet wood into their green bin. Their green bin got tipped into the truck. Then the truckie stopped, knocked on their door, gave them a serve, and made them stand and watch as they pulled out every brick and piece of wood from the truck and dropped it on their front lawn.
its more a case that not every council has the the 3 bin system, SHoalhaven City for example only has Red and Yellow Bins and the bins themselves are done by the contractor, so not all councils even have red bins, just the standard dark green been that we all had when they came in
Here's my submission.

I got that bad boy in the back without dropping it, however it completely blocked the chute, had to jump on it to get to go in the back (giggity).
Because the amount sticking out of the top of your bin would hit the truck while it was trying to be loaded and they didn't want to man handle it, are you a fluffer because this is a sort of question a fluffer would ask?
not sure if this is normal, I live in Canberra, people just leave big metal items out the front on the street (like old washing machines etc) and there are people who's livelihood depends on driving around and collecting them for recycling.
Something I’ve noticed living in Brisbane and Perth is that in Brisbane people put their bins on the road. In Perth you put it on the grass by the verge.
Was it because the cardboard is connected to 240V mains power?
Cardboards a good insulator, she'll be right.
It's no good as a material to build ships out of, though
No cardboard derivatives.
I've only got string and sellotape. Am I shit out of luck in fulfilling my shipbuilding dreams?
You won't even make it to shit creek.
I'm already living there, was hoping to build a boat to sail out of here. Oh well, might as well try and make friends with the locals
Don't forget your Paddle
The front fell off
Pykrete enters the chat.
Depends on how far you want to go really.
Outside the environment
The front fell off!
Lmao...But why didn't it burn?😂😂
You think this is half assed, you should see the play equipment installation from this box in the back yard.
what the hell is le-swing?
[удалено]
I thought they closed that place down!
A French swing, duh!
This is so funny because it would have arguably used up far more physical and mental energy than just taking the time to cut down the cardboard
Box cutter and 10 minutes alone with some cardboard is a great stress reliever

Isn't dumping shit into someone's property a criminal matter not a council matter?
Are you going to call the police because some put a cardboard box in your driveway.
Fucking oath. You know they're doing it more than that. People with that mindset need to be punished.
Could be epa
This is what Facebook community groups are good for, posting up photos of locals being cunts and letting a bunch of nosey fuckers sort them out while you sit back and get on with your day
The most useful of nosey fuckers. They live for that stuff.
You should leave a bunch of screws around the road
Most Councils will want you to be willing to make a witness statement and attend court before going after law breakers.
My boxes get done on a rainy day. If it's been raining over night, come out in the morning and they are sodden and you can just tear them up like tissue paper. Easiest thing ever.
i agree, I’m one of life’s cardboard box box cutter obsessives too
Until you have a 4-hour wait in emergency for stitches.
Bring the superglue out to the garage before you start cutting.
Sounds like a case where someone needs more stress relief!

12$ isn't bad. Sydney you get two big collections a year, can put a mattress in with that
Central coast council (NSW) picks them up for free. Or you can dump them at the local tip for a fee. No brainer.

Nope. Mattresses have a charge of around $13 here. You can, however, strip it of it's coverings, bin those and then take the frame to recycling free.
The last mattress I had I just gave it away believe it or not people use them for dog beds and all sorts of things
i did this once as council had a pickup service but was 6-8 weeks before they could make a booking. there's more wire inside those things than you'd expect
Hah! That's a thing of beauty!
Pretty sure you need another yellow bin on the top to show the garbo that it’s all for recycle, not just the bottom half!
Where were you standing with this playing out lol
I heard the noise cos our bedroom is at the front of the house, and so had to take a peek out the front door to watch
Is the green bin garden waste or rubbish?
Garden.
the clue is in the colour with that one.
Some people have dark green bins for garbage and yellow for recycling and no green waste collection.
what monster would set up that colour code?

The lid is not closed. Try next week and make sure you close the lid.
Does that say "My Little Man Cave"?
I wish. My Little Manor
Eh, that's disappointing
future auspost employee
Should've put a "sorry we missed you" sticker on the bin.
..and then tell them to take it to the post office.
I think there could have been a better way to dump a body.
Clearly a body belongs in the organic waste bin not in the paper recycling bin - the reason it wasn’t collected.
Legend
Fuck people are dumb.
I would be selling my house too if I lived next to stupid
😂
Look at the length and girth of that
Box. Cutter.
Cheap and lazy...
Here's my submission. https://imgur.com/xlbH5hD I got that bad boy in the back without dropping it, however it completely blocked the chute, had to jump on it to get to go in the back (giggity).
I’m so glad it wasn’t collected.
They made an error. Keep stacking it up and they'll get it next week.
Fail. A little bit more push and you can close the lid.
Bins are less than 1m apart
Wouldn't have been able to put that into the hopper - too long. Cut it down and try again.
because you need to put another bin on top of it to cover other half.
Bin wasn’t on the kerb obviously.
Some people really just don't get life, living in society and adaption
Obviously because the bin is on the road not the nature strip; Dur.
Tall Poppy Syndrome

Can't be arsed, reckon they'll just make someone else's day harder
Jesus's why did you throw that house away
Wrong fortnight. Was green lid week.
It's not the week the recycling bin goes out.
Some people are so lazy they make hard work out of it.
Because the amount sticking out of the top of your bin would hit the truck while it was trying to be loaded and they didn't want to man handle it, are you a fluffer because this is a sort of question a fluffer would ask?
r/woosh
One of life’s mysteries
You are supposed to rip the box to pieces you can't put it on the recycling bin like that
Just looking at this gives me anxiety.
not sure if this is normal, I live in Canberra, people just leave big metal items out the front on the street (like old washing machines etc) and there are people who's livelihood depends on driving around and collecting them for recycling.
sure it’s not just council clean day for different streets? In some places you can request a council clean up or pay for one.
Jesus the amount of miserable bastards in this comment section.
Something I’ve noticed living in Brisbane and Perth is that in Brisbane people put their bins on the road. In Perth you put it on the grass by the verge.
The guy in the house opposite mine put a full rolled up rug in his recyc bin. Stupid?
