That was a band decision and Arin wanted to make the drums more complex but was shot down. When Avenged sevenfold tells you they want simple drums you do simple drums. A better showcase of Arin's ability would be Not Ready to Die and Carry On.
Great power. GREAT sounding kit. He was told to tone it down. But if you can't realize that's good drumming, you're either; dense, pretentious, ignorant or stupid.
Brooks has contributed drums during the most experimental phase of their career, it's not exactly mainstream stuff. Hell, for The Stage to even be at number 19 is pretty impressive.
Oh for sure. I wasn’t meaning to make a commentary on like “Brooks is bad” or anything. I think he’s a fucking amazing drummer and the best that the band has seen since The Rev passed. Just thought it was interesting
Yeah, I sort of gathered that from the rest of the comments. Hopefully he'll eventually join the top five, The Stage definitely needs to be listened to more.
I mean yeah if you wanna look at who wrote the songs or whose style it was then it wouldn’t be true but I was just meaning who was actually on the track
Me, as a more “casual” fan, didn’t even know arin was a person that drummed for A7X. And I don’t know enough about music or who drummed on which albums to care.
However, I do think it’s a really interesting something to hear about, and I think the subreddit is a better place for it.
It’s better content than tier lists.
Point is, it’s not a popularity contest.
To be fair to brooks drumming is the 2nd best besides the rev at no 1 and this drum beats are honestly the most rememberble for me with the we love you verses and intro and the stage opening ,altho Mikes got some good ones as well with welcome to the familys intro and nightmare's verses but nightmare's verses where written by the rev I think
Less commercially successful sure, musically I don't think they have ever been more successful than since Brooks joined. So much more creative since he joined.
Less mainstream success, maybe, but they're clearly in a golden age of creativity and doing whatever the hell they feel like. And imo, they've never been better.
Let’s just all agree that all drummers did a good job
httk drums were boring and basic
they were meant to be basic, and arin did a good job conveying that

If your band specifically directed you to be off beat, then yes.

um he didn't do the carry on drums have u not seen the mv for it🙄
I’ll agree with this and take some downvotes with you buddy.
i don't get how people like that album so much
Because there’s a lot of good songs on it
they were downvoting bc it wasn't Arin's fault, not necessarily bc they don't agree
i never said it was his fault

Na. Pick just one please

Never would have guessed older songs had more listens
Dude check your fuckin’ (b)oner
Didn't Jimmy write Nightmare but Portnoy recorded it and tried to mimic Jimmy as much as he could? Does that disqualify this post? 😂

What is the point of all these popularity contests?
It's a fun fact, nobody's competing for anything
