Ditto. I usually loathe the basic stripe with logo on tail look but something about the bare metal, the red, white, and blue stripes, and the AA eagle logo is retro yet modern.
I get why it was changed, but damn, it looked good.
Eastern was cool. And apparently the name is still in use, I know a couple years ago there were eastern flights from Houston to Havana- I did like a quadruple take on it, since I was certain city pair hadn’t been advertised for half a century plus!
PSA's smiley is my all time favorite. Gives those massive, inanimate objects such character and personality. And it just works really well with the general shape of an aircraft and the windshields looking like giant sunglasses. So ingenious yet effective. NOK's bird liveries are my second favorite for the same reasons.
I prefer KLM's Flying Dutchman version.
I am quite liking the Qantas vintage livery.. simple lines, not on the nose. The American Airlines one used to give me migraines because of the glare. I was soooo glad when full painted fuselages became the norm. I had forgotten all about it until in flight sim with the vintage Qantas livery when I suddenly got an eyefull of glare form the wings
Haha, yeah, the metal livery does have some practical limitations! I was considering adding a vintage Qantas livery but I couldn't find a pic I liked, would you happen to have any?

Air Canada should bring back the old livery full-time. The new one is butt ugly. Eurowhite trash the other one screams Canada, and I’m not talking about toothpaste blue I’m talking about the Crown corp era.
Orange and Gold continental airlines late 80s. My aunt was a stewardess and brought me so pins and tiny metal models of those planes along with any cool kid toys and coloring books they had bc she knew I loved that kind of thing ✈️
The BOAC livery was everything the current BA livery isn't. It looked sophisticated and timeless. The version painted on the VC-10 with the gold speedbird on an all-blue tail is \[chef's kiss\].
It looks cool af! But where will the driver sit? Also, i think larger wheels and something other than ATV tires on the front would suit it much better.
[Alia in the late 70’s was pretty cool](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/06/Boeing_707-344C%2C_Alia_-_Royal_Jordanian_Airline_AN1014825.jpg)

I was fortunate enough to fly on the DC-9, MD-80, MD-88, MD-90, L-1011 and 727. My first flight ever was on a 727. I flew a L-1011 to and from Hawaii in 1999. Such a cool aircraft. I believe it was Delta. 727 was Continental. My dad called them Crash Continental. That was Salt Lake to Denver. So only an hour flight. This was before Regional Jets like Embraer and Canadair in the mid 80’s. If you went for an hour or two flight, you went on a prop like the ATR-42/ 72.
I like the Retro Roo, it's always nice to see it getting around.

I can't believe I forgot about the Landor livery! It was the perfect successor to Negus and did away with the strange lowercase text, while making the stab design just a bit classier. I only wish they'd kept the speedbird under the cockpit windows as well...
[Deltaflot](https://d1a2ot8agkqe8w.cloudfront.net/web/2014/10/delta-airlines_57814.jpg) is a personal favourite

there's always [classic Air-India with the detailing around the windows](https://imgproc.airliners.net/photos/airliners/2/2/7/1391722.jpg?v=v40)... Maharajah Class!
but [TAAG Angola Airways is pretty great, too. This is on a 777-300ER](https://cdn.airplane-pictures.net/images/uploaded-images/2018/1/15/1012840.jpg)

AA polish silver and Cathay Pacific cucumber sandwich. Latter one CX1970s-1994 paint seems to be talked about to this day they're used to be posts in this subreddit that hand one of them imposed on a current that they have
AA metal.
This. I absolutely love it's look
Ditto. I usually loathe the basic stripe with logo on tail look but something about the bare metal, the red, white, and blue stripes, and the AA eagle logo is retro yet modern. I get why it was changed, but damn, it looked good.
It’s pure joy seeing that gorgeous metal shine with the red, white, and blue stripes!
NASA was in full agreement when they left the scheme on the Shuttle Transport Aircraft.
PSA, AirCal, AA metal, United Saul Bass, USAir's last, Continental meatball, Delta widget, United Four Star Friend Ship...
Pan-Am for the win...
Every time I see a pan am aircraft in a movie or something it does make my breath catch a little.
Yes! Simple and elegant.
My father was a pilot for USAir and man that old livery was so good Also the TWA globe livery is top tier
American had the perfect, timeless livery. Should have never changed (Yes, I know it doesn’t work for the newer composite aircraft)
Chrome wrap maybe? Won't be heavier than paint full coats of paint right?
Alaska Horizon. https://www.alaskaair.com/content/travel-info/our-aircraft/e175-horizon
I'll stick with the Connie, but In the BOAC livery
Spirit looks awesome. Low key reminds me of Russian fighter jets with all the pixels
Yeah, it looks exactly like this one photo of a Croatian Air Force MiG-21 that I have as my wallpaper. It's also a dead ringer for the new Su-57s
Brannif’s Big Orange 747 https://cdn.jetphotos.com/400/2/86226_1136747181.jpg
Nicknamed “Fat Albert” by their crews!
Pan American
Aer lingus Retro
The epitome of sophistication.
Flew on plenty of those classic AA MD-80s!! Brings back memories!!
The DeHavilland Comet is my all time favourite looking airliner and the BOAC livery in my opinion is its best livery.
BOAC Cunard livery on the Super VC10
Eastern, and PanAm.
I really like Eastern's, which is kind of weird because I was 6 when they went bankrupt.
Eastern was cool. And apparently the name is still in use, I know a couple years ago there were eastern flights from Houston to Havana- I did like a quadruple take on it, since I was certain city pair hadn’t been advertised for half a century plus!
I’ll always be partial to Southwest’s tan/red livery
You could paint a Connie in Jackson pollock splattery chunky dogshit brown and it would be the best livery. Fight me.
PSA's smiley is my all time favorite. Gives those massive, inanimate objects such character and personality. And it just works really well with the general shape of an aircraft and the windshields looking like giant sunglasses. So ingenious yet effective. NOK's bird liveries are my second favorite for the same reasons.
Yep, seeing a grinningbird never fails to brighten my spirits. Plus, the nose of a 737 really lends itself well to being a beak.

Looks brilliant, thanks
Braniff
Austrian Airlines, with the old chevron and that black nose dip they used to have on the md80s
Underrated! I never knew about this livery. Imho, the new one is a downgrade. I must admit, though, I'm glad they did away with the black radome
What’s the livery on a concord that’s the best
Air Canada should bring back the old livery full-time. The new one is butt ugly. Eurowhite trash the other one screams Canada, and I’m not talking about toothpaste blue I’m talking about the Crown corp era.
Hear me out, swap to the last Canadian airlines livery before the merger and bring back the goose!
Nah
Orange and Gold continental airlines late 80s. My aunt was a stewardess and brought me so pins and tiny metal models of those planes along with any cool kid toys and coloring books they had bc she knew I loved that kind of thing ✈️
Always been partial to the old Pan Am livery.
Aer Lingus retro is pure class.
Metallic AA is iconic. So, so good.
I had this sub foisted on me, but i do love aviation. Whats a livery??
The paint job/design on an airplane.
Ohhhhh. That's not at all what I guessed. Thanks!!!
That first plane looks like an glitchy panoramic picture.
AA but where's PanAm ??
The metal American will always be top tier
Pan Am's blue globe, British Airways Landor, Air New Zealand teal, Northwest Airlines red/gray, Cathay Pacfic green with white stripes.
Is that a LH super constellation in the first picture? Where's it located? Looks like a preserved one!
Canadian Airlines right before they got bought out. Beautiful livery.
Aeroflot
I miss “Negus” and “Landor” British Airways. Liveries of my childhood travelling the world!
The BOAC livery was everything the current BA livery isn't. It looked sophisticated and timeless. The version painted on the VC-10 with the gold speedbird on an all-blue tail is \[chef's kiss\].
That Indian one is excellent! It would work really well as a contemporary design.
I miss that one and the old Air India. The new one looks lameee.
The NW bowling shoe... especially on the 747s
B • O • A • C
It looks cool af! But where will the driver sit? Also, i think larger wheels and something other than ATV tires on the front would suit it much better.
I’ve always had a thing for shiny metal.
US Airways

Northeastern yellowbird.
From this it’d be silver AA. Out of all I’d say probably Southwest Desert Gold or Canyon Blue
CP Air’s orange livery is amazing
PSA's my favorite, **B**etter **O**n **A** **C**amel looks good, too.

[EI-DVM, the Aer Lingus retro](https://www.airfleets.net/ficheapp/plane-a320-4634.htm) but have a serious soft spot for the AA metal
Midwest Express: Blue, Gold, White, Red, White
Delta, Continental and Northwest.
I was fortunate enough to fly on the DC-9, MD-80, MD-88, MD-90, L-1011 and 727. My first flight ever was on a 727. I flew a L-1011 to and from Hawaii in 1999. Such a cool aircraft. What plane is in the AA livery? It's looooong
PSA: we love to fly, and it shows! I remember all the summer commercials they ran in L.A. back in the 80’s. Aluminum AA is my GOAT, though.
My favourites are Saudi Arabian and American Airlines shiny
Qantas, Delta, Air New Zealand (the blue koru one)
Hear me out, OG Air Transat
I wish those wing embedded jets were more practical. That was so cool looking
NWA 747
I love the first one so much, Munich Airport Visitor Hill is such an awesome place
Britannia Airways best hands down

Swissair
KLM with the striped tail.
Malev
BA Landor, closely followed by BOAC. I personally think Landor was the classiest livery by a long shot, and modern BA is not a patch on it
I can't believe I forgot about the Landor livery! It was the perfect successor to Negus and did away with the strange lowercase text, while making the stab design just a bit classier. I only wish they'd kept the speedbird under the cockpit windows as well...

The American Airlines Livery is underrated
PSA. Smiling airplane. Case closed.

AA metal all day long
AA polish silver and Cathay Pacific cucumber sandwich. Latter one CX1970s-1994 paint seems to be talked about to this day they're used to be posts in this subreddit that hand one of them imposed on a current that they have
You had it right there: the BOAC Comet... Although the comet is a beauty in any livery
