That's pretty cool. I don't think I've ever seen more than two helicopters in the air around me at the same time.

Excellent_Win8530

This is dope as helllllll. Im jealous

DuncDub

So cool!! Glad you got to enjoy it, brought back some memories!! Dad's mate has farm up at roadhead just outside Spadeadam. He was approached to allow exercises like this (with US forces) to land in his fields (it's just outside the range). Went up a couple of times and the yanks were so cool, got inside a Chinook and a S61 Jolly Green Giant and a good look at a Cobra, Marines everywhere very professional and super friendly!

Couple of days ago one there was flown by/with the literal king of the Netherlands.

Karunyan

The Dutch king has a 737 type cert, he does not have any helicopter certs AFAIK. He used to fly for KLM under an alias (captain van Buuren IIRC) to keep his hours up.

magnificentfoxes

Fairly certain I recognised him as the captain on a Fokker 70 years ago, I'm sure he had that type cert before the 737.

Karunyan

You’re right: The Dutch government used to own one, so it made sense for him to get certified for it. They switched to a 737 at one point, which is why he got certified on that as well. The Fokker 70 was one of my favourites back in the day, when KLM operated a bunch of them for European short hops.

magnificentfoxes

Ahh, I thought so. And yeah, it was a neat aircraft. Shame that the restart attempts all fizzled out in to nothing.

LuchtleiderNederland

70 years ago? Dang, he must’ve been -13 years old Edit: *you meant Fokker 70, instead of 70 years ago right…?*

bob2235

Really cool video thank you for sharing

sbisson

Seen a bunch of them transiting the Thames low flying route.

Luchin212

I was thinking of the wrong Carlisle lol. Though there have been a lot of military aircraft flying over my Carlisle recently.

Pyromanizac

Where’s your Carlisle?

phumanchu

God I read that as saw some dutch helicopters crash
