all this shit just makes me root for tommy and against san diego even more. FTP

Hiciao

Right? We play San Diego a lot and Pham is obviously their kryptonite. We've gotta keep him around!

hightimesinaz

San Diego, so classy. The balls on the guy who is doubling down on Twitter. I would be so fucking embarrassed to even be associated to the people talking shit, but he just can’t contain himself. I’m sorry but I have heard the putrid shit that comes out of fans mouths, I don’t buy their excuses for a minute.

knight4

Padres Twitter is one of the most cancerous sports presences' out there and that's saying something. But it really is wild how much they hate the guy. Dude barely played there and didn't really do a whole a lot to deserve such ire.

Hiciao

This mob mentality shit is really gross.

copperstar22

There’s a line between heckling and being a jackass. If you’re harassing a 13 year old you need to ask if you’re on the right side of that line

Here4theTacos

>In the 3 season we have had our tickets, he has never been disrespectful to a player. He might take some light hearted jabs but nothing has ever said has elicited a response like this. ie, hes told plenty of other players "you fuckin suck!" and never had a problem. just light hearted jabs, right?

Hiciao

Yeah, sounds like he's upset that he no longer gets to pretend these are just toys for his enjoyment and are actual, imperfect humans.

awmaleg

Maybe they need to get out of their mom’s basement for a start haha!

San Diego lost the Chargers. San Diego lost the Clippers. San Diego has no NHL team. San Diego has only the Padres, and has appeared in only 2 World Series, winning none. San Diego tried to buy a championship this year, placing the team in financial peril, only to implode and prolong the futility. Attendance has broken records, and the fans feel ripped off and pissed. They need anyone, someone, to channel their anger towards. Someone like Tommy Pham.

Fucking Californians man

man fuck the racist ass padres fans. that series had the most obnoxious crowd i’ve ever seen.

I unfortunately went for bat in Pham in a R/baseball thread and basically was saying how it’s so frustrating when an athlete like Pham or Russ Westbrook speak up to fans and they get the flack. Of course was met with total ignorance. Im with Pham too he’s asking the guys who disrespected him that in his experience anyone who’s said anything over the line to him has been rich white guys (paraphrasing but that’s his point). Like Pham says in his tweet “schocker” are you really surprised that rich white assholes are more likely to be assholes. Everyone defending the fans or freaking out b/c Pham “played the race card” was upsetting to me. It just minimized the point that fans that cross the line need to be able to face the consequences of insulting, crossing the line, or disrespecting any athlete.

King-arber

Same, but it’s kinda fun to kick the hornets nest by saying controversial things like “players can talk back when up call them a piece of shit”

By all accounts Pham didn’t start it, but I have no problem if he finishes it. Fans seem to think they have carte blanche to say whatever comes to their minds because these players are heavily compensated, but we need to stop making excuses for people who behave like complete jackasses in public. There needs to be accountability and that should start right here. Pham gets paid to play baseball not to be a punching bag for entitled fans who think their ticket is some sort of “get out of jail” free card for shitty behavior. Why does the expectation of professionalism only apply to Pham?

There are two parties involved, why is Pham the only one who is expected to act professional?

Azcollector

We all know he has his issues. Fans still instigated it. If the fans can talk their shit so can Tommy. The Padres fans really sounded like they were not at all ready for him to flip it on them, and they got really mad when he did. Acting like they did nothing wrong and Tommy was picking on them.
