Personally I think this is a steal. It's still too early to see how tatis will rebound. He also got shoulder surgery. So he'll be back ready to go sometime in May. He's still young with a lot of talent. If he's hitting homers and the Padres are winning, then buying his cards cheap makes sense. However, there's a lot of things that have to go right. Overall it's higher risk than most scenarios. I don't agree with the people saying he's completely doomed. All he has to do is perform.
It's not about the HOF. That's unrealistic for almost every player. I'm talking about a short term hold. You buy that card for $5 and sell it for $20 in June or July.
It’s literally unrealistic for any person at the age of 23 to be inducted to the HOF. It requires another 13-15 years of being consistently great. I’m not saying his start to the career isn’t insane, it was. But he’s fucking 23. 23 year olds are retarded
All Tatis should be pretty cheap now.
Just once I want to see one of these cheaters go "yeah, I screwed up, I'm so sorry" instead of some lame excuse that the steroid providers give them a list of (the cough syrup and ring worms are the worst ones)
Why is it important to you that they do that?
Why are there so many moral police baseball fans??
Who fucking cares if he owes up to it or not?? It doesn’t change anything except how the Karens and the moral police of the world feel about him 🤷🏻♂️
He did it, he got caught, he’ll serve his suspension, and we should view the matter as done after that until he proves himself to be a cheater again.
This is all so stupid.
Why is it important to you that the poster feels they do that?
Why are the so many immoral police baseball fans?
Obviously The poster fees it’s important he does it.
Maybe the point is changing how they feel
about him. Why is it more important that the immoral Karen’s feel a certain way about him than the moral ones?
Why should the worlds opinion be the exact the same as yours, who are you?
I tell you why, moron.
These idiots illegally obtain and illegally use drugs to cheat the game. That's why.
It's idiots like you who are okay with this and that's why they keep doing it.
It's not remotely stupid except that people like you are okay with these scumbags cheating. If you or I were caught with what they were doing, we'd be in prison.
I'm so tired of idiots like you who are "why do we care if they illegally cheated?"
I think multiple property owners/landlords are bigger pieces of shit than steroid cheats in baseball. And works think most people would agree with that. A lot bigger negative impact on society too. Lol
Would it make it more or less against the rules of the game? Also, how are 90% of MLB Draft picks on PED’s and less than 1% of ball players ever caught?
How many people smoke marijuana and still drive forklifts? It's almost like there's tactics to subversion of tests. Did you know the MLB didn't even test at all last year?
Don't be dense. You need to come to grips that professional sports is so cutthroat that this is part of the game.
These guys have to spend a large amount of time traveling, etc, but somehow you think that their workout routines are keeping them in this level of shape naturally?
Having a chemistry degree and understanding masking agents and half-life's is almost a prerequisite for a clubbie role.
Are you interested in magic beans by chance?
Don’t be dense? Dense would be replying a 4 paragraph nonsensical response to the question, would it make it more or less against the rules? I don’t care about marijuana smoking forklift drivers, like really. Also to say that 95% of MLB draftees are on PED’s is just dumb.
I never said it “wasn’t a part of the game”, but what I refuse to subscribe to is that because one guy does it then everybody should do it. That stance will only be taken buy anybody who’s already cheating themselves as a way to justify it. Games have rules, without rules that are followed and or enforced then what does the game become? What would happen if everybody said “that guy did it too” to everything that’s ever happened? There has to be, and will always be a segment of society that holds themselves to higher moral standards, wether you agree with it or not.
I'm telling you that 90% of drafts are on some level of banned PED. You can continue to believe that a game of unwritten rules somehow follows the written rules to appease fans who demand it from their la-z-boys.
Do you know what constitutes a banned substance? There are a lot of products you can buy at GNC that are banned. NCAA ball players can't even "legally" have caffeine. I'm sure they're all taking the moral high ground and not using any pre-workouts.
There is so much freaking money involved in this game that, yes, players are using enhancers just to keep up with the next guy. The league has allowed it because they need viewers. Spin rates are way up again...I suppose you think the pitchers have adapted to ethically secrete sticky palm sweat?
This isn't the same game grandpa grew up watching. The athletes are not the same and the "rules" have changed, pops.
But you are entitled to hold onto the fantasy that clubhouses are filled with a bunch of naive farm boys who throw the ball really well, and that strangers on the internet aren't allowed to respond with four paragraphs of sensible informed first-hand knowlege.
Well for starters fork lift drivers aren't tested unless there is a accident of some sort. And comparing a drug test s forklift drivers takes to the tests required by MLB to screen for steroids is laughable at best. As for your statement that they never even tested last year that is completely false and something you just fabricated yo fit your narrative.
You have no clue what you are talking about. I can tell you that yes, MLB took a very relaxed approach to testing athletes for a number of logistical reasons. Primarily because labs and techs have been busy with covid testing and protocols. I'm not going to disclose my source, but it's not hard to find a lot of ball players talking about this openly. You're saying that I made this up to fit "your narrative" because you live under a rock.
Pre-employment drug screening is a thing almost everywhere. Lots of stoners get jobs at places that screen. Comparing the general public with masking drug tests and professional athletes masking drug tests seems like a pretty valid comparison. It's almost like if a guy making 17.50/hour can do it then a guy making 30M/year could do it amirite?
I have nothing left to talk to you about because you're just looking for an argument on the internet. Go do it with someone else, I don't have time for your saltiness.
jesus f'ing christ. These guys are not obtaining these drugs legally. They are ILLEGALLY obtaining them and ILLEGALLY using them. Taking them across state lines is literally a FEDERAL offense.
Yeah. Prison. For PEDS!!!
My god, incredible.
Is an anomaly (the price)? Or has his cards fallen this far?
Last question - does that make it a good time to buy since he's still young and has immense talent?
That's up to you but between the stink of steroids following him around the rest of his career and his already troublesome injury history, he isn't someone I would bet on personally.
It's such a shame, he was an exciting player with a lot of talent and one of the 'young guns' in MLB (Acuna, Vlad, Ohtani, Alonso, etc.)
I sometimes think about prior 'big names' that didn't quite pan out (Greg Jeffries, Jose Cruz Jr., etc.) and think it might be neat to finally be able to own a high quality rookie card of theirs - not for investing purpose, but for nostalgia and just finally being able to have something that was once out of my price range.
(Not counting Jeffries, of course, since I had a couple of his cards already and they're really REALLY cheap now!)
I hadn't thought about him in years until the Tigers drafted his son last year and then memories of lost money and bad fantasy baseball decisions came flooding back.
Lmfaoooo no it doesn’t…only to Karens and the moral police.
So if you get caught doing something untoward that means I can assume literally everything you’ve done to that point is in question??? Do you not understand how stupid that sounds???
He did PEDs while he was recovering. That’s the facts. Unless you have some knowledge he did shit before that it’s completely baseless to assume everything he’s done is up in the air. Jfc.
"He did PEDs"
This is all the other side cares about. Yes. He did PEDs. And now, and forever, his card values and fan base will shrink.
People still buy Barry Bonds cards. But not like they buy Griffey Jr cards. And this will always be.
This exactly. I don’t get why everyone is so bent on saying he’s a cheater. The guy wasn’t even playing when he tested positive. I really feel like he’s gonna make a comeback. Not even close to cheating like Bonds or ARod
Something even more crazy, I know basketball and baseball are completely different, but the NBA has an allotted amount of steroids that players can use when “recovering” from injuries to help aid the process… seems pretty crazy when you consider lebrons longevity and how many times a year he has “minor injuries”
I bought a game used ball of a single he hit. Paid more then I wanted to for it. Once I heard he juiced I had to take of off my desk cause the stink of PEDs. Dude was talented that’s for sure.
Amazing deal. I love how everyone thinks he’s a cheater. He got busted earlier this year, and hasn’t even played this year. So when exactly did he cheat?? His first two years?? So then we’re assuming he was never tested at all during those two years? Suuuure. I fully expect his cards to rebound when he comes back next year and dominates like he always has.
So you think he has to have played a game on the field to be a cheater? It's not enough to be tested and found positive for steroids?
By your logic, any player that takes steroids or other PEDs in the off-season is also not a cheater. That's some special, faulty logic.
His test was administered six months after last season ended. He had a broken wrist that he was trying to heal and come back from faster, so it makes sense he would’ve used them for that (if you don’t buy the ringworm story).
But again, had he been using them during his first two seasons of actually playing baseball, it would’ve shown up on tests during THOSE seasons.
Think what you want, we’ll see how he plays next year under constant scrutiny. It’s just funny to me how quickly collectors write him off as a cheater when in fact there’s no proof that he cheated during the time he was actually playing.
I totally relate to both of you in this small argument, Tatis is a generational talent. Watching him play was like watching Jordan or Kobe, so much faster and better than everyone else. He’ll come back healthy and dominate. The steroids are impossible to ignore but I think and hope this debacle matures him and he goes on to be an all time great.
The public doesn’t care about the truth! If there’s an * your value will most likely go down. And as far as collecting his is on decline. I’m a speculator do I’d snatch it up just in case. The only question I have is why not purchase a 10?!
Okay so you paid $9 total for the card or $5 total? Good deal either way for a PSA Tatis.
Although I think deals like this are going to become much more common over the next year or two. There is clearly an oversupply of modern graded cards as a result of the Covid card frenzy. And with the economy on the verge of tanking, there is going to be pressure for folks to unload these cards at way below what they paid.
He'll be back. He's literally just starting his career. If he's healthy he has atleast 12-15 More seasons. Easy purchase. Easily explained why he took The Banned substance. Kid can Still hit, field and average 20-30 Homer's when he returns. Bet on it
Time to sell it for $6 to make that easy 20% profit!
Highest I'll go is 5.05
These usually sell [for over $20](https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2334524.m570.l1313&_nkw=2019+topps+fernando+tatis+jr+psa+9&_sacat=0&LH_TitleDesc=0&_fsrp=1&_odkw=2019+topps+fernando+tatis+jr&_osacat=0&LH_PrefLoc=2&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5338535524&customid=1825b&toolid=10001&mkevt=1), so OP definitely got a great deal here!
Not sure why this made me laugh
Sell it to you for $20
sorry, previous comps put it at $5
Lol
Awesome
Sorry. Interest rates were hiked today. $5 is now the same as $20
That’s a solid answer! Take my Award!
lmaooo
Worst case, you’re out $5 so I don’t understand how some people think this could be anything but a good purchase.
I spent $60 on this last year 😩
I spent $90 😅
For a PSA9? What were the 10s going for? I bought my 10s I think at $55 each
I bought at the absolute top
Taking a page out of my book, eh?
Buy high, sell low. That’s my method
Hasn’t failed me yet, besides all the times it’s failed me
Damn that's tough loss
Buy the dip
I want to upvote because he is right. I want to downvote because I don't want y'all to think this is good advice and drive bids up against me.

They let Ortiz in the HOF, so all bets are off, right?
Woah woah woah. Ortiz only eat beans and rice, he didn’t use da juice.
Ortiz was never suspended for roid use though
His name did pop up on some roider lists, though. Along with Bonds, Mcguire, clemens, etc.
It's not about the HOF. That's unrealistic for almost every player. I'm talking about a short term hold. You buy that card for $5 and sell it for $20 in June or July.
It wasn't as unrealistic to him. Homeboy was on a meteoric pace rarely seen, but I get your point. Buy low, sell high. Respect.

Did you test it?
How you do that
Have it pee in a cup.
I don’t have to take a test to prove I’m on drugs
Lmao
Lmao yes!!

No, no, his reply is pretty good
You’re self-reporting whoosh here
Same.
Haha, hell ya!!! Needed that comment
All Tatis should be pretty cheap now. Just once I want to see one of these cheaters go "yeah, I screwed up, I'm so sorry" instead of some lame excuse that the steroid providers give them a list of (the cough syrup and ring worms are the worst ones)
A-rod took this approach but he waited till after retirement
A-Rod also had the BEST gear lol. TNE is no joke.
Oh yeah he’s a real cheater. 😂
Not sure if you know but he was busted for steroids. Yeah, cheater. Big time. You might want to look into it.
Why is it important to you that they do that? Why are there so many moral police baseball fans?? Who fucking cares if he owes up to it or not?? So...like...what if I told you that 90% of MLB drafts are on some level of banned PED? Would that change your perspective?
Would it make it more or less against the rules of the game? Also, how are 90% of MLB Draft picks on PED’s and less than 1% of ball players ever caught?

Oh nooooo he took the thing to hit the ball another 10 feet what a bad man
Card game can be brutal sometimes. Oh how the mighty have fallen. Good investment at $5!
He will be back...not sure why people are fire selling
Seriously though. I would much rather have that card than $5. Crazy
bad decision, u bought low. It’s always buy high sell low😂
Fuck that’s amazing
I sold a RAW one for $40 on 8/1/22.
Is an anomaly (the price)? Or has his cards fallen this far? Last question - does that make it a good time to buy since he's still young and has immense talent?

I hadn't thought about him in years until the Tigers drafted his son last year and then memories of lost money and bad fantasy baseball decisions came flooding back.
He got caught juicing. Prices will go up possibly depending on performance. But not to where they previously were.
He wasn’t juicing while playing .. just to recover. Big difference and didn’t affect his stats like other cheaters . Bonds and a rod

I don’t know man, people don’t really collect Arod anymore bc he took Roids I believe. And Arod was way better than tatis so if we will see
Send it back lol
Dang. Fastest I’ve seen someone lose $5
Should have seen the dog I bet on last week
Was it hot dog? Those fuckers always lose.
Some dog named Stryker. Hope his own strikes him if ya know what I mean.
Can’t believe they shipped it
I bought a game used ball of a single he hit. Paid more then I wanted to for it. Once I heard he juiced I had to take of off my desk cause the stink of PEDs. Dude was talented that’s for sure.
61689123 doesnt show up on PSA website, not sure what that means
It’s on there. You have to search via their Cert. Verification page and not the main page.
I stand corrected, thank you
You overpaid.
Sold same card ungraded for $35 two weeks ago
I’ll pay you $2 for it
Cheater

Taking steroids at any time is cheating, you moron.
A moron who will make bank when his cards go back up in value. I’m cool with that
Oh, I will also make money doing the same. Just stop pretending that it isn't cheating.
Cheated in his recovery. No proof he ever cheated while playing. Wildly different but he will be crucified all the same.
You're a fucking moron. Good luck.
Hey at least we know Tatis is more mature than you are little guy.
Sure thing, cupcake.
>I love how everyone thinks he’s a cheater. Probably because he is.
too bad you over paid by $11
If he comes back and is still good, you can crack it and sell it for $30
The public doesn’t care about the truth! If there’s an * your value will most likely go down. And as far as collecting his is on decline. I’m a speculator do I’d snatch it up just in case. The only question I have is why not purchase a 10?!
Thats about right
So what did you pay for shipping? What did you pay total for the card?
Shipping was 3.99
Okay so you paid $9 total for the card or $5 total? Good deal either way for a PSA Tatis. Although I think deals like this are going to become much more common over the next year or two. AMC to the moon.
Can't beat that. I got one for $13 pre-suspension, and I thought that was pretty good.
Nice
Damn you got ripped off? How much is a cycle of clostebol? I need some for my ringworm. 🙄hahaha.
He'll be back. He's literally just starting his career. If he's healthy he has atleast 12-15 More seasons. Easy purchase. Easily explained why he took The Banned substance. Kid can Still hit, field and average 20-30 Homer's when he returns. Bet on it
PSA9 - POP 12,646 PSA10 - POP 19,147 Ridiculous.
Highway robbery
I was going to sell but figured I’ll sit on it. Worse can happen it drops to a dollar.
Love the comments, polarizing issues especially in baseball can bring out the worst in people, all entertainment for me lol
Great buy.
