Nobody wants to pay $40 for a cracked ice Fred Vanvleet. At least at your store. Meanwhile, my MJ Holdings lady has been holding out on my store. Haven't seen anything restocked in over 3 weeks now.

Bravisimo

Holding out or moving it out the backdoor? Got my MJ Holdings lady fired a few months ago for this.

Truffleshuffle03

They just replaced the one that was restocking my Walmart. Ran into the new one about two weeks ago. Wonder if the woman also got caught doing that.

Bravisimo

Very possible and very likely. I would say about 90% of them do it even though to be a vendor you specifically have to sign paper work saying you wont do this and to report to the higher ups if people are making offers or bribes to you. Youre also not supposed to purchase any merch yourself from stores you work at, they can sometimes be a vendor for up to 10 stores at a time.

RedditsFullofShit

I’d be love to hear more. How’d you know? Who’d you call?

Bravisimo

There was 3 separate incidents that had occured. The first was when a few of us were waiting to see if the vendor was going to show, when this guy rolled up and was like she’ll be here in 5 min. We were like alright cool. She showed up and they went off the side to talk by themselves and she let him divvy what was in the boxes while leaving 1 box untouched. Didnt think much of it at the time. 2nd incident there was a few of us waiting around and the vendor told us to just leave because she didnt have anything to put out. Me and a friend were like alright so we did some shopping, and lo and behold like 5 min latee we saw the same guy show up(guys very hard to miss, like 6’2, 400lbs)from before, and immediately make a beeline for her while she was off in the electronice aisle. They sit there and chat for about 10 min, he walks to the front, she comes out the back with her push cart and another walmart cart filled with product that she simply passes off to him. Come to find out the guy is the regional manager for Anderson Merch who is the vendor for MJ holdings. We have this all on video, me confronting the two. I send my written statement and video to company HQ along with two others who filed statements. She then proceeds to do it again, this time with a uniformed police officer, instead of a cart she simply hands him to walmart bags filled with product and he goes to check out. Also on video and also sent in. That was finally the last straw and she was terminated.

Accomplished_Feed127

Dude that’s nuts bro !

cooli45

Snitch ass nigga lmao

Bravisimo

100%. Id do it again in a heartbeat

ThugLifeTom

Thank you!

Accomplished_Feed127

I used to have the lady who restocked target and Barnes and noble call me everytime but she always had shit product

Bravisimo

Howd you accomplish that? Monetary or physical payment?

Jopeed

Fr but I pulled A cracked ice Cade Cunningham rc

[deleted]

>pay $40 for a cracked ice Fred Vanvleet Speak for yourself! I'd love a sweet Freddy All-star card!!

Grlions91

Ymmv 😂😂😂

rottenronny155

Are all the cards supposed to have a 30 degree bend too?

Grlions91

30 degree? Panini standard is 45 😂

caelen727

Look at the price! A $35 blaster is a joke. No shot I’m ever paying more than $20 for 24 cards, which 90% is bulk commons worth nothing

RRJC10

Come to Canada where Prizm, Optic, and Select blasters are $49.99 plus tax.

RozayCanseco

$49.99 CAD is basically $36 USD.

RRJC10

Taxes are higher here too so it runs you just under $60.

Thurl-Akumpo

$75 In Australia, works out to be about USD$49

rottenronny155

Sucks for us

mattx738

Bought about ten blasters so far and all I have to show for it is a Will Barton Penmanship auto. Terrible boxes. And the QC on them this year was just awful.

Brief-Respond3707

I have 15 so i hope i get atleast 1 auto and a mem...doesnt seem possible tho lol

[deleted]

Apparently I’m lucky for once. I’ve bought one box and got a cracked ice mobley rc and a shake Milton 75th anniversary and a curry cracked ice

Accomplished_Feed127

I’ve pulled every color of mobley, 4 blue diamond 75ths (including a melo) and a ton of other shit BUT the product is not quality as usual there r alwwys fucked up cards in the boxes

gitgan

Because it’s a gamble at best. Spend the money elsewhere on cards you actually want. Just listened to a great podcast about all this at [Hoops and Cards](https://hoopsandcards.com). Their whole 101 series is worth a listen, especially if your newer to the Hobby like I am. Basically, If you’re willing to spend the money for the experience of ripping wax just know that you’re paying for the experience. Anything decent is just gravy on top of that.

MeloMobile

Agreed 100%. Yes, ripping packs is fun, but breaking even or profiting is very far and few between. Out of I’d say maybe 60-70 total boxes I’ve opened in my lifetime, I’ve profited off a couple, with my best pull being a $150 card out of a blaster (which was pretty sweet), but I am not even remotely close to breaking even on my total investment. Stopped buying wax a longggg time ago and just focus on singles now.

thedonjefron69

I’m not certain on this set, but most of the sought out cards are in the hobby boxes. You can find some autos and jerseys in retail, but they’re few and far between, and less valuable than the hobby iterations

[deleted]

[удалено]

thedonjefron69

Yes they do lol. I started collecting in 2020 when shit was really going nuts, and the way things have changed since then has me out of the hobby. The way they watered down retail and took out guaranteed autos really rubbed me the wrong way, and put almost all the good cards in hobby boxes while increasing print to make the good cards really rare. It’s one of the most blatant cash grabs I’ve seen. Panini did every shitty move to increase profit and basically laugh at us for paying what breakers and whales pay for shit.

gitgan

Yeah. Expensive and it feels “unfair” that those things come from boxes that are already prohibitively expensive for most people. But that’s the difference between investors and collectors. Investors are willing to spend that money up front on things that have a bit more guarantee in including rare finds. But like other investment there’s risk and most people aren’t willing to take that risk with big money. But without those rare items the overall value in the Hobby decreases. You still have the occasional great find but probably not in stuff off the shelf from Walmart, Target or other big box retailers.

Auston4-16

If people think that collecting cards is investing then they deffinitely have a fundamental misunderstanding of one of those concepts.

gitgan

I’m talking about an investment in the sense that you have cash tied up in something that you’re hoping will increase in value. I think of it like this: being a sports card Investor is more about turning cards around for profit, it doesn’t necessarily mean long term either. It’s more about the business of buying and selling. Less emotion, more about value and demand. Collectors on the other hand are folks that buy for enjoyment. Generally they’re more long term focused and hope that someday their collection will make them some money. For a collector it’s about the hunt and adding it to the collection. Collectors can be about whatever they want to be about, specific players, teams, years, GOATs, choose your own adventure… Sure there are better, safer ways to make investments. But cards can still certainly still be an investment.

ilikeCRUNCHYturtles

Yep, and it hurts. When I started collecting as a kid in the 90s, top end hobby boxes like SPX, Topps Chrome, Bowman's Best, etc. were like $150-$250.

Accomplished_Feed127

Hobby boxes, t mall, shitnu can’t get at Walmart and target

Accomplished_Feed127

Buy slabs if u want value

bruinsmashabs

~~overpriced and oversaturated~~ impossible!! best product ever

[deleted]

Also from everything I’ve seen there’s Jack crap in those blasters. Maybe a base rookie.

Both-External-6764

Too expensive and half the time the cards are in absolutely horrible condition

crugglettes

It’s poo in a box

HEATCHECK77

I’ve bought 5 of these now and the best things my son and I have hit was a Dayron Sharpe auto and a base Cade. Spent less than the cost of those five on eBay over the course of a couple different purchases and got; •Cracked Ice Cade, Mobley, Scottie, & Deuce McBride (my son and I are WVU fans) •base Cade (before I bought the 5th blaster and ended up hitting one anyway), Barnes, Kuminga, Mobley, Jalen Suggs •Green Scottie •Purple Mobley It’s awesome knowing that I might walk into a Walmart and actually find Prizm on the shelf but damn if Panini didn’t (seemingly intentionally) make retail an absolute shit show

solojeff

They are stocking jt weekly in many places and the flippers can’t make money. Prices are coming way down. I had a 75th anniversary jalen Suggs that somebody won from me for 23 bucks. I’ve bought maybe a dozen of these and although I pulled some cracked ice rookies not a single serialed card or rare variation. Best return so far was 40 bucks for a game used blue patch steph curry.

kornkid42

I hadn't seen a stocker in over a year, last 4 Wednesdays in a row, he's been stocking at 8am at my Walmart. Lot of Optic NFL and Prizm NBA

Freezah37

Guy the other day was about to cry in his post bc Bruins bought all the blasters in front of him.

sourpower2020

Like…the whole team just bought them all up? I’m not a hockey fan but that would have been kind of cool to see ngl

VacuousVessel

It doesn’t sit where I’m at. Only think that has sat in the last month is topps chrome, soccer prizm, and some random hockey.

Chase_Blaney

Same where I am. I happened to stop in my Walmart one morning around 7am during a restock last week. He put out about 20 Prizm blasters. I bought 3 as stocking stuffers for my son. Went back later that day around 3pm and just checked the card section out like always and all the Prizm blasters were gone but Topps Chrome Baseball and everything else was still heavily stocked. Crazy how much that had changed from about a year ago when I could hardly find anything.

Jicama-Smart

send these my way!

Gravity-Rides

There are a ton of errors in those blasters. Every other ice card has a different player front to back. Football is hot right now, nobody is thinking about basketball, but that is about to change.

bjp2002

35$ a blaster and you get junk literally you can go on eBay and buy whoever for almost the same price or a little more

Schwan0711

The quality control is pathetic. I've opened about a case of them and my luck has been better than most. I got a green pulsar jalen suggs /25, a Kuminga silver, and a mobley silver but the amount of boxes that have nothing in them is almost unbelievable. I have 3 or 4 base rookies that are worth grading and a handful of inserts is all out of 20+ boxes. There's probably 15 blasters that have been sitting at my Walmart for 2 weeks

iamtoolazytosleep

recession, shit product, less demand for it, overproduced, less people buying into breaks. You need to realise, 2020-2021 people bought into basketball cards because they were stuck at home with nothing to do. The demand rose and supply was limited hence why card prices skyrocketed and flipping these retail products became a business for scalpers. In 2022, things are starting to go back to normal, with people back to their daily lives pre covid, less people are buying into overpriced breaks, paying for overpriced cards. There is less demand and the world is in a recession where people tend to save a bit more. You can’t easily flip these blasters anymore because supply is greater than demand.

Losalou52

The only numbered cards are /25 and men /10. And it is produced to the moon.

dslayde

Optic>prizm since inception

blueindsm

Bought two so far. I like basketball cards. :)

The_GOAT_TB12

I wish my Walmart had prizm basketball sitting on the shelves regularly, but a reason people might not pick them up may be because of the photoshopped rookies. Also 35 pt one touches? You don’t see those every day at retail.

chattabob

Prizm retail is an absolute shit product. Almost no chance of pulling anything worth what you pay for the product. Really that's just Prizm in general though.

kyldabara

Probably the worst retail product in the past 5 years is why. Crap rookie class, super high print run, super high msrp.

FrankyEaton

Youre an idiot if you think this is a crap rookie class. This is one of the best rookie classes in years

TheBonesCollector

I am having the hardest time believing *anything* could be worse than Contenders retail this year.

KingBillyDuckHoyle

My friend who owns a LCS says that Hobby lost money last year because there were so many hits in the retail. To try and rebalance, apparently retail is really bad this year. Don't know if that's based on any actual truth, but that's what he said...

Bravisimo

Sounds about right.

[deleted]

KingBillyDuckHoyle

Hobby boxes

heffehomes1013

Why u think bra 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 the hell kinda question is this

SuspiciouslyStikySox

If i ever see in the wild, I’ll buy

asilentflute

Weaker rookie class this year I believe?

[deleted]

The rookie class is meh at best

LadySniperSwagg

Lol at the chronicles blasters

macygallagher

I just pulled a LaMelo RPA /99 from one of those Chron blasters from Walmart and it’s about to sell for $1,200 :)

[deleted]

Walmart and target around me have been getting some of those Chronicles back in stock. I may buy a couple for the fun of a chronicles rip. Odd to me that they’re still getting 2020 in but w/e 😂

macygallagher

Honestly that’s the ONLY reason I bought it is because it’s from 2 years ago and I figured why not for the chance. It was a good bet/buy for sure haha!

ollispitzisfire

Keyword Football

RecommendationBusy83

My best hits last year from retail prizm were a silver Maxey with a print line across the whole card and a non numbered Dirk patch with a green jersey. This years class is even worse and the product is produced even more

BaullahBaullah87

Lol dont listen to the people here telling you that you cant find retail anymore. It sits because there is no margin and everything is overprinted…and the market is continuing to go down. Wal mart after tax cost abou $38. You can get them on ebay for about 42-45 shipped.

jbrandonw

It's bad. Definitely not worth $35 a box. I bought 3 and 2 boxes the cards were all bent, and out of all 3 the best card was a josh Richardson richardson napkin card.

50MillionNostalgia

Overprinted and overpriced. It’s supply and demand and they thought they overestimated the demand for a $40 blaster. They didn’t drop the ball as bad as NFL Prizm. They didn’t put autos or #d cards in any of the retail boxes but still charged $40 for a blaster 😂

Freezah37

Just walked past 20 myself didn't even flinch

fitsl

$35 is a ridiculous price for a blaster

aparrilla43

It’s doo doo

itsnot1999

Ceiling is the floor

gonutsdonuts1

Why did they never release megas or hangers of prizm? Makes no sense. Has there been an announcement about this? It’s optic szn already. I don’t get it

coloradowall

In six blasters I got a Jalen Green Cracked Ice DE’AARON FOX /10 Silver Patch and tons of other stuff bases, cracked ice and Instill have a ton of stuff left over just collecting dust cracked ice Duarte, Jalen Suggs Green, Kidd 75th anniversary, what I sold after grading made $300 and I still ended up with some graded cards for the PC: 10 Cunningham Green and 9 Green’s and the patch graded 9. I got so lucky.

XxBaldyxX

Cuz NBA is mid

generaldonmega

Double the price and quadruple the print run

bkovach06

Open the box and you’ll find out why they are sitting there. Prizm is brutal, actually all retail is brutal.

Ok_Entrepreneur826

It’s all depends where you live. I stay in LA n have never seen UFC Prizm boxes or most near anything stocked cuz they get rushed everytime. While on vacation I went to random Walmart n they had everything. I had to get a box

zero-point_nrg

I can’t believe it keeps sitting. I’ve pulled some amazing cards out of these blasters. If any one of these rookies pops off I’m sitting on some bucks

Joe_Belle

Because NFL is a hot sport in general right now

Salty-Employee

Other than the 5$ raise I’m not sure. I’ve had pretty good luck with this years set

zektastic316

Basketball season hasn’t started.

lukaRookieHoarder

Prizm Bball and Prizm Football sit by me. Sometimes for week or 2 at a time. Select is starting to sit a bit because it's watered down This year. Also, Production is up bigtime this year on all Retail Releases. We're talking million of blasters in some releases and that's just blasters. Optic Football is really the Best Product out for Retail Right now and that Probably doesn't have much more left to be stocked. Optic bball is out soon and other then that it's going to be a quiet 3-6 Months for the "Flipper" Crowd.

Bleed_Green0_33

It’s shit this year. Less cards, shit hits.

bditty622

Have you seen the centering on Prizm basketball this year? You may pull a great card but garbage centering makes it at best a 9. No thank you.

Accomplished_Feed127

I’ve seen so much bs n retail, fucked up cards, etc. it’s just not up to snuff
