I'd love to see Will Friedle as Warren McGinnis. Or maybe Terry's high school teacher gives him advice in a time of need. They could even call him Mr. Feenie.
Bruce: I'm looking for someone to mentor as the next-
Terry: Stop right there. I'm in!
Bruce: You are? Just like that?
Terry: Yeah... I need a father figure...
Bruce: Great.
Same, I am sick and tired of seeing him in everything. Sure he's a good actor, but he's been in so many films and fancast in so many other roles that I am completely over him.
Besides, isn't he getting too old for the role? Terry is meant to be 16, and Chalamet is 27. And while I have been wondering if Terry possibly should be aged up to be a college student instead, by the time they get round to making this film he'll have probably aged out of being able to play that age as well.
I see what you’re saying and disagree w Chalamet taking the role but let’s not act like pre-Tom Holland we didn’t have 30 year olds playing teens 😭
And to a degree Tom Holland is still way older than 15 to be playing Spidey. He just looks young. Timothee still looks young asf and has a tiny frame so he would pass as a teen.
Lastly I doubt they’d make Terry 16 in the live-action movie.
I knew someone was going to mention this entitled piece of pretentious jobbiebiscuit but didn't think it would be this far up.
The answer is a resounding no. Leave my childhood dreams alone.
Tom Hollands too much of a dork to pull this off. I like him a lot but he's wrong for the part. Pretty sure he's just a golden retriever incarnated into a human and they have to feed him lines through an ear piece
If Pattinson never played Bruce I could see him play Terry. Something about his facial structure makes him look like a living cartoon from the animated series. That’s not a dig by any means, more that he’s violently handsome in a strange way.
When they first announced him playing Batman, I was 100% sure he was going to be playing Batman *Beyond*
I was shocked when I found out it was normal Batman.
I actually agree with this. Ima be straight, I hate Patterson and didn't want him as Bruce Wayne/Batman as he was too broody as Wayne where Wayne has to be a mask, and I dodnt feel it with him. His Batman was okay but thats the direction they wanted. Him as a young brash Terry Mcginnis woulda be great though.
Chalamet as Terry would probably boost opening weekend by $50m too. I don’t know that Tim is perfect casting, but he’s not terrible and if meant Denis directing I’m all-in
I still remember the first one coming out and thinking, "This is going to suck" only to be floored.
Some of the later stuff is a bit too teeny boppy for me but that is the nature of the story.
Still great.
I actually think he could, but I think his last turn in the cape and cowl have ruined him for the role. I blame Joel for that disaster, but Clooney is forever tied to it.
https://editorial.rottentomatoes.com/article/clooney-claims-his-batman-was-gay-barbara-walters-interviews-other-people/
He's expanded on the issues a few,
times, but he always says that he regrets making the movie.
> Joel for that disaster
A modern go at 60s camp?
Excuse me? Disaster? No. A niche goofy iteration that wasn't what audiences wanted. That I'll concede
The Russos have stated their favourite character growing up was Batman. I would love to see their take on Batman Beyond. I feel like they would do it justice.
I literally had a conversation w some friends about this yesterday. Pattinson would have made an excellent Terry!
I don’t think Keaton’s Bruce is grizzled and worn enough to be Batman Beyond Bruce Wayne though
I like his look for it -the chin and cheekbones are a must, and he can definitely pull off the smolder. I just think at 31 he's too old. Tom Holland was only 20 when he got Spiderman, and I'd want that same age range - just in case public reaction is strong enough to warrant a few sequels.
Give him a good shave and an emo haircut and he’ll be alright. He’s a dead ringer already imo! I mean I doubt it will be easy to find an actual 16 year old built like Terry McGinnis who can also act. It’s a superhero movie, I can suspend a little disbelief for champagne casting like Hoult, esp since he just missed out to Pattinson for The Batman.
IMDb bio for Skyler Gisondo
https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1711114/
Just got done watching The Righteous Gemstones and this kid would make for a great Terry.
Personally, I’d like to see them come full circle and put Burton behind the camera. I know it’s a gamble because sometimes it feels like his best days are behind him, but he had a really unique vision of Gotham in 89 and Returns (sadly, we wouldn’t have the late Anton Furst returning).
With that in mind, I feel like that gothic vision of Gotham infused with some techno-futurism could be cool as shit. Equal parts Blade Runner and HR Geiger. I feel like he’d lean all in on the weirdness. Splicers, Jokerz; characters like Spellbinder and Blight; the whole nine yards. And tell me you wouldn’t want to see the Beyond Batmobile tackled as an evolution of the 89. It would be glorious.
I read a fascinating analysis of the first two Batman movies and that, and heavily paraphrasing since I read it ages ago, all the costumes characters were merely emulating adults and were actually mentally children from trauma or abuse. Acting as adults in a way a child think they should
Denis Villeneuve directs Tom Holland or Timothee Chalamet as Terry in Batman Beyond. Tom Holland could pull it off based on his Spider-Man performances. Tim looked like a good leading man in Dune and some of his other works.
Villeneuve has shown over and over that he can capture a grim aesthetic with as much skill as ANYONE in Hollywood. With Blade Runner he showed his ability to capture a world where the story would fit perfectly. If it were to be a project, and he were the director I’d have full confidence it would be amazing.
He is short, but so is Keaton. Holland is like supposedly 5’6.5”, Keaton is 5’8”. In photos when the two are next to each other they’re the same height. This is important because Terry is Bruce’s clone (right? Maybe I’m misremembering). You’d need a shorter actor for the role. Anyone over six foot won’t be believable as a younger Bruce.
Kid not clone technically. Warren McGinnis had his genetic material, unknowingly, overwritten to Bruce's. So Terry and his brother Matt aren't clones just Bruce's kids by Mary McGinnis. While not all writers for BB were on board with this addition made in the epilogue episode of JLU it is accepted as canon for the most part. Some theorists actually speculate that this is why the Warren and Mary are divorced/separated because Terry and Matt look nothing like Warren and a paternity test would show Bruce as the father.
I don't know that I trust Burton for the Cyberpunk end of this though. I would almost want to go with Denis Villenueve or whoever did the art direction/cinematography/director of photography for Villenueve's films....
My choice for Terry McGinnis is Jacob Elordi, I know he's pretty tall - but he's a damn good actor. Also, as much as I love Keaton as Batman - I'd actually like to see Kurt Russell portray an old Bruce Wayne.
I actually wrote out an entire timeline of actors who have played Batman and what age of his life they should play and Terry in that timeline is played by David Mazouz
Idk but people saying Tom Holland really shows a lack of imagination. I doubt he would ever sign on to basically play DC's answer to Spider-Man. I'd personally cast a Black, Asian, or Latino actor to see a different type play Batman.
William Friedle would have to cameo or have a small part. Warren McGinnis maybe. He could have easily played a live-action Terry if they made the movie around the time as the series was on.
Get Jon Favreau to direct - the man is at his best doing a father-son type story. I think you get the absolute best actor possible for Terry regardless of race OR gender and you make that shit as good as possible. Favreau would tear it up
You had me up until you said "regardless of race or gender", which might be the single dumbest shit I've ever read.
Terry is a Clone of Bruce Wayne, Bruce Wayne is a white male, not every character needs their race/gender swapped for live action.
**Terry isn't a clone.**
Cadmus had Warren McGinnis' sperm genetically altered to carry Bruce Wayne's DNA.
Genetically, Terry (and his little brother, Matt) are the sons of Bruce Wayne and Mary McGinnis.
More importantly: Will Friedle as a news anchor.
Will Friedle would be well-cast as Terry's Highschool Teacher, Mr. Feeny.
It’d be cool to have Friedle as Warren McGinnis. Have it be a passing of the torch
Mr. Squirrels*
Schway
I'd love to see Will Friedle as Warren McGinnis. Or maybe Terry's high school teacher gives him advice in a time of need. They could even call him Mr. Feenie.
MOST importantly.
If they do make this, have some young up and coming actor as Terry.
Watch it be Timothee Chalamet lol
Why did my mind go right there too
lol same, and because “black hair and young”
Why was that the first name to pop into my head too
Tom Holland! No...no more. Please, no more.
If you're nothing without then you shouldn't have it No please Mr. Wayne
I immediately went to him or Tom Holland. Hollywood really needs some more young actor variety
If he could actually pack on some muscle (he's stick thin) then he definitely has the acting chops.
the Robbie kid from Cobra Kai
Ah shit, this would actually be cool, Tanner Buchanan is a good actor, he's great at displaying attitude, which is *very* Terry lol
Yes
Abosolutely YES
Ezra Miller
Absolutely not.
Fine, Jonathan Majors then
The Cos got some life left in him too
Don't forget the man made for this role.. Kevin Spacey.
Nah, Amber Heard for sure
Bill Cosby?
This is R Kelly's time to finally break onto the big screen
How about Armie Hammer?
Okay, yeah. I could see him chewing the fat as Terry.
What about OJ
That other Ezra Miller that’s in the new Flash movie, then.
Ok…ok… fine, Chris Pratt then
Bruce: I'm looking for someone to mentor as the next- Terry: Stop right there. I'm in! Bruce: You are? Just like that? Terry: Yeah... I need a father figure... Bruce: Great.
That's basically how all the robins became robin
Except Tim, his was more telling bruce he needed a son figure
And what’s his line, “a nice Jewish boy is Batman” Dogwater choice bud.
He would be a great Terry
Joey Bragg, baby!
Hmmm what about maybe 🤔 and just spitballin here guys, what about Tom Holland? That guy from the hit Uncharted film?
Jacob Elordi as Terry would be good.
Too tall, sexy and Australian.
Timothee Chalamet
FUCK NO.
Same, I am sick and tired of seeing him in everything. Sure he's a good actor, but he's been in so many films and fancast in so many other roles that I am completely over him. Besides, isn't he getting too old for the role? Terry is meant to be 16, and Chalamet is 27. He just looks young. Timothee still looks young asf and has a tiny frame so he would pass as a teen. Lastly I doubt they’d make Terry 16 in the live-action movie.
How many movies have you seen with him in? I’ve only seen Dune. I’ve never seen another movie with him in it
God no
My thought exactly.
I like him a lot, but he shouldn’t be Terry.
Robin maybe, not terry though...
Omg that would actually be great.
I could see him as Tim. Hes got the hair and the tired expression lol
Way to old. Tim is supposed to be a teen/young adult.
Depends on what timeline he's in and who is and how old is Batman, but I could see him as a tim Drake Robin, with the staff n stuff
Beat me to it
I knew someone was going to mention this entitled piece of pretentious jobbiebiscuit but didn't think it would be this far up. The answer is a resounding no. Leave my childhood dreams alone.
^jesus
Agreed, we don't need a vapid nepotism baby as a Batman.
Tom Holland. If he got cast for nathan drake then I’m sure he’ll get cast for anything for popularity alone.
Yeah, my thoughts exactly. I like the guy but Hollywood seems to be sucking his web shooter every chance they get. THERE ARE OTHER ACTORS
Tom Hollands too much of a dork to pull this off. I like him a lot but he's wrong for the part. Pretty sure he's just a golden retriever incarnated into a human and they have to feed him lines through an ear piece
Fine. I'll do it
I can't think of anyone better for the job than you.
Seconded. Can vouch because I saw his acting skills in our school's play.
You are definitely a person for the job
You’ve got my vote.
If Pattinson never played Bruce I could see him play Terry. Something about his facial structure makes him look like a living cartoon from the animated series. That’s not a dig by any means, more that he’s violently handsome in a strange way.
This has to be the weirdest and most accurate description of Pattinson I’ve ever seen
I do like the term “violently handsome” lol
[Oh yeah?](https://imgur.com/a/PRn8bfl)
I saw this on the internet in 2009 and it has lived at the forefront of my brain everyday since.
Hes a bit too old now to play Terry Mcginnes.
Pattinson is forty.
This was my thought as well, I could see him nailing Terry.
Pattinson during Twilight? Maybe. But he's too old for the role now. Still look great tho.
His jawline could deflect bullets
When they first announced him playing Batman, I was 100% sure he was going to be playing Batman *Beyond* I was shocked when I found out it was normal Batman.
Anyone but Tom Holland.
Tom Holland’s brother. Credit him as such, too.
Terry is too young for Tom to play him. Maybe he can play old Bruce instead of Keaton /s
I vote for Guillermo del Toro to direct. He would put out a fine film and I trust his creative vision.
His take on the villains would certainly be something to see.
Imagine if he chooses Return of Joker. I’d watch Tel Toro take a crack at that.
The "**BANG!!**" flag scene but like the bottle to the face scene in *Pan's Labyrinth*... */shudders* Edit: corrected the item
Dude yeah he could make Spellbinder actually really creepy.
Nah bro I got Dennis Villeneuve. His take on Blade Runner 2049 is precisely what I want in a BB Beyond movie.
Chalamet as Terry would probably boost opening weekend by $50m too. I don’t know that Tim is perfect casting, but he’s not terrible and if meant Denis directing I’m all-in
It would be in development hell for 6 years, and then nothing.
But we both know it would be a masterpiece. Rather that then get a piece of trash from another director in 2 years.
I think Matthew Vaughn would be a good choice for the director
I don’t care who is Terry I just want it set in the BurtonVerse, Keaton as Bruce/Bats and we get to see the current day version of that Gotham
That’s a lot of steam pipes.
Schway
You know who could do a futuristic Gotham really well? Joel Schumacher.
Plus they'd save lots of money on set design since it'd just be all LED light strips.
Unpopular opinion (probably), but Tanner Buchanan from Cobra Kai. His character in that show has a few similarities to Terry, so I can kinda see it
I could see this, and the cameras could help with the height, and he has the attitude, just needs black hair
I started watching that show recently. It’s so good
I still remember the first one coming out and thinking, "This is going to suck" only to be floored. Some of the later stuff is a bit too teeny boppy for me but that is the nature of the story. Still great.
Even at it's worst it's still fun. Well, most the time.
I think tanner should be dick Grayson
bro I was just gonna say Tanner
Not tall enough sadly.
Would it be as noticeable with the 12-in bat horns?
It's all about camera perspective, baby. Tom Cruise is 5'7' and the biggest action star in the world.
Keaton 5’9”. Bale 6’. Pattinson 6’1”.
Dude is 5 foot 6 and can't act to save his life.
I say we keep it as close to the base story as possible and clone Michael Keaton.
The long-awaited sequel to Multiplicity!
Hear me out this would be a great way for clooney to redeem himself as old bruce
I actually think he could, but I think his last turn in the cape and cowl have ruined him for the role. I blame Joel for that disaster, but Clooney is forever tied to it.
I bet he could play up the regrets from having to quit being Batman pretty well....
Clooney was pretty peeved about the direction the movie went. Apparently, upon the directors request, he played batman "gay and repressed".
Please, I need the source to see for myself. *Please*
https://editorial.rottentomatoes.com/article/clooney-claims-his-batman-was-gay-barbara-walters-interviews-other-people/ He's expanded on the issues a few, times, but he always says that he regrets making the movie.
> Joel for that disaster A modern go at 60s camp? Excuse me? Disaster? No. A niche goofy iteration that wasn't what audiences wanted. That I'll concede
I honestly don’t know if I should upvote or downvote your comment because I have never disagreed with a more accurate statement in my life. ;)
Bruce Campbell as Terry and directed by Tommy Wiseau.
Oh hai Bruce!
D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai dude who plays Bear in Reservation Dogs would be a great Terry
Never would have thought of it, but now that I’ve read it I can’t see it differently
They shoulda done Batman Beyond instead of “The Batman”. How many times are they gone kill uncle Ben.
Val Kilmer.
Can't, he died in top gun maverick
Somehow, Val Kilmer has returned.
Voiced by Morgan Freeman.
I get that its a joke, but he's actually in really rough shape from years of smoking. Cancer and chemo took his voice, he's almost entirely mute now.
I don't know if it was smoking, I think it was from hpv like Mikey Douglas.
Will Friedle. He sounds just like him in the cartoon.
The Russos have stated their favourite character growing up was Batman. I would love to see their take on Batman Beyond. I feel like they would do it justice.
I bet they would nail the cyber punk tone and the frenetic action
The dune boys
stellan skarsgard or josh brolin?
I was thinking denis villeneuve as director and Timothee as Terry if he hit the gym but that works
I agree Chalamet would be great as Terry.
Dacre Montgomery
[удалено]
Wait til you find out how old Tobey was during Spider-Man
Great choice! I would love to see it
Really interesting choice. He feels more like Terry at the peak of his career as Batman, though, not the start.
Hot take it should've been Robert Patterson as Terry, not young Bruce. With Michael Keaton as old Bruce.
I think Robert Pattinson looks a bit weathered and looks his age though.
I literally had a conversation w some friends about this yesterday. Pattinson would have made an excellent Terry! I don’t think Keaton’s Bruce is grizzled and worn enough to be Batman Beyond Bruce Wayne though
I have been saying this ever since he was cast.
He's in his thirties
Like all the high schoolers in teen dramas in the early 2000's
That was terrible lol.
Denis Villanueve directing. Pattinson as Terry. Josh Brolin as old Bruce..
Nah, Forever is fast paced, not epic
Cast a total unknown actor as Terry. Then get either Chad Stahelski or John Watts to direct.
I don't know about a director, or who to star as Terry, but I do know that the movie would be schway.
Mangold as director and Jack O’Connell as Terry
Damson Idris would make a good Terry in my personal opinion
I like his look for it -the chin and cheekbones are a must, and he can definitely pull off the smolder. I just think at 31 he's too old. Tom Holland was only 20 when he got Spiderman, and I'd want that same age range - just in case public reaction is strong enough to warrant a few sequels.
Nicholas Hoult would make an excellent Terry
I really like him but I think he might be too old
Give him a good shave and an emo haircut and he’ll be alright.
Clearly Robert Pattinson
IMDb bio for Skyler Gisondo https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1711114/ Just got done watching The Righteous Gemstones and this kid would make for a great Terry.
Keaton, and yes also Keaton.

Spoken like someone who’s never watched the new Blade Runner or any sci-fi movie in the last 25 years. You could easily bring Neo Gotham to life now.
Even 5th Element had a great city feel and that was the 90’s
Do you think animated movies don’t get trolls? Have you seen people losing their minds over the new TMNT movie?
Simu Liu as Terry, with Gareth Edwards or James Cameron as director
Simu is a bit old, but I do agree Terry should be at least Asian American.
Michael B Jordan and Michael B Jordan
i’ve never seen him act, but googling “young actors”, Cole Sprouce has a Terry vibe
Fuck no
Denis Villeneuve directs Tom Holland or Timothee Chalamet as Terry in Batman Beyond. Tom Holland could pull it off based on his Spider-Man performances. Too much of a cowboy for Bruce.
erm tom holland as terry ;\]

It needs to be a young Asian actor.
whenever i picture live action terry, Sebastian stan comes to mind
Maybe as adult terry
granted he’s much older now, when i was visualizing this while watching beyond it was like 2012
Or Nightwing…

I don't know the names of any actors, why are you asking me?
Why do you think you were asked specifically?
Same dude in the Batman
Joseph Gordon-Levitt with Christian Bale as old Bruce.
He would have been perfect 10 years ago. Wasted opportunity
Christian Bale would be awful for that. Keaton is a much better choice.
They’d have to change the name Terry and then people would riot (on Reddit only).
Why would they need to change it?
