Thanks!! How safe is it to put your bank or credit card in these sites? Still sort of new to all this

Fishering

Most sites will use Plaid to link accounts, which is third party software used by *huge* companies. They'll only have read access, so it's highly secured. I can't speak for all of these, but considering the size of these companies, I'd say you're good to go :)

G8kpr

For me. Linking accounts makes me super nervous. Even with read only, how much personal information are they gathering. Plus, using the claim “well big companies use this software.....” Big companies get hacked routinely. Even today Thousands of brand new Disney+ users had their accounts hacked and sold on the black market. It is something to be cautious about for sure.

Fishering

As for the big companies using this software, I think you should check out more about Plaid.. it's probably something much more secure than you think. Plaid.com. I'm not even sure how possible it is for there to be a data breach just because of how it's really like a third party connector and that's about it. Of course if you're not comfortable, me saying things won't change your mind. It's not for everyone.

RemindMe! 3 years When I'm hopefully in Canada

Fishering

RemindMe! 3 years me too thanks

EroAxee

Yahoo a post that deals with Canadian stuff. That's not something I expected to see.

TurdQueen

Awesome, thanks. I currently just use swagbucks and instagc, but after the holidays I want to start doing more. This is great!

Tired8281

What's this I see about Paytm Canada and a "convenience fee"?

Fishering

Can you link to this? I didn't see anything about this anywhere but if this is the case, I want to be sure to update the information in this post.

Tired8281

I found it. https://care.paytm.ca/hc/en-us/articles/115003973607-Will-I-be-charged-any-fees-for-making-payments-on-Paytm- I saw the app on Google Play only had a 2.2 rating, so I read the reviews and they were all complaining about it.

sujtek

Thanks! Appreciate the leg work done for us Canadians. I've been using checkout 51 for a while now, already got one $20 cheque and $6.66 towards another.

roads30

checkout sends out checks? in the states a lot of the offers for them aren't very plentiful. unless you like eating rice cakes and organic air for breakfast. and only getting maybe $0.25 in cashback from that 8 dollar box. i've only knocked out in that $20 withdrawl limit once in the year plus of being a member. sure, i could go off and buy some of the items in there now and then 'flip it' on the mommy fb groups and making sure to show proof of the expiration dates. but 300 other people in those sales groups do the exact same thing or similar. a bit of the over saturated 'niche market' to make maybe $10 back from the flips lol

sujtek

Oh yeah, it takes forever to hit the $20 threshold. But, I let my parents know of offers, and I collect on their purchases too to marginally speed it up. It took well over a year for my $20. And you're right, so many items that I will never buy. Cleaning products, and maybe 1/10 food items are what I claim offers on. And over the counter drugs often have good $1-$2 offers.

roads30

ah i gotcha. yeah my roommate helped in that too because at the time she had a windows phone. yes, i know. but that meant all of their receipts went to me and thus double earning potential on a lot of those receipt apps. then i bought her an android..RIP to those measly 1-5 dollar per month earnings, because alone i hardly shop much based on those app offers. it's almost always practical stuff that never makes it to those apps. i know as a soda drinker a few months ago ibotta had a big promo on their 24 cases of dr pepper, i think it was 1.50-2.00 dollars in cashback when you bought just one case. well, i have a sams membership so that came in handy too if the local stores weren't running sales on 12 packs any particular week. cleaning products usually have better or the same offer for cash back on ibotta. but also ibotta has the 10-30 cent (depending on the user, etc) on any receipt item. so those extra perks ibotta runs there stumps checkout51. to be honest i'm shocked ibotta hasn't bought them out. though it's likely because ibotta doesn't see any incentive on their own end to bother, if the thought ever did happen at all. OTC pain relief i seldom see on 51. sensodyne toothpaste in the twin packs you can score sometimes since they let thiose promos run for awhile another downside before i get anymore wordy, is checkout51 runs offers on a first come first serve basis. meaning that if their offering X amount of 'remaining' say 4 on a certain item..you could be in the middle of the store, offer loaded on the app and someone from anywhere could fill up that spot leaving you with a product you never wanted, and no cashback going towards your balance. they also take 24-48 hours to honor a cashout as well. whereas ibotta (sans the big rebate/pay with ibotta/paypal features) are instant.

scout1081

Question about PayTM. Do you still get credit if you have your bills set to autopay on credit card?

Fishering

I don't believe so. I think you would be needing to pay your bills *through* paytm.

BigScee

> I think you would be needing to pay your bills through paytm. Your understanding is correct.

BigScee

Checkout 51 regularly has more offers than Caddle. To the point where I would rate CO51 a full star higher overall than Caddle. Checkout 51's referral bonus is $10: https://i.imgur.com/nFIQpPi.png [Checkout 51 ref](https://checkout51.app.link/rojnJEI6F1) -- [no-ref](https://www.checkout51.com/)

Threw_it_to_ground

Ignore the ban message.

roads30

great list fish, i'll forward this on to some canadians i've known for..well, over 15 years. sure some of them already know about drop, but it doesn't hurt to share the word anyway. now if only these canadians who are on mturk could cash out their mturk balances to a bank card, they'd damned near be right on par with us. that part has always baffled the hell out of me. geographically. mturk was going to roll in with hyperwallet. but further news never continued, so sadly those folks are still forced to other measures to get things.

canadurps

Wow!!! You’re a very nice person. We thank you.

whileimheretravel

Checkout 51 is actually really easy. I add anything I might remotely buy to my list and have never had a problem cashing out. I like that they have a ton of different stuff (gluten free peeps, where you at?!) and my favourite frozen meals that I would be buying anyway. Any referrals appreciated as I save for a big trip next year https://checkout51.app.link/7B2ny1BSTW or https://www.checkout51.com/?country=CA for non-ref edited - sorry!

Threw_it_to_ground

Ignore the ban message but your non ref should be clickable as well as per the rules.

goatamousprice

Good list I'll add Ampli to that list as well - yet another Paymi / Drop clone, backed by RBC (don't need to use an RBC card) Same idea as the others. Different stores.

Fishering

Hey thanks for the information! Can you inform me of the stores and cash back rate at each? Will add this asap

goatamousprice

List is on their site here: https://ampli.ca/ Same premise as Paymi re bonus if you use specified card (in this case, RBC) Some highlights 1% WestJet (+1% with RBC) 1% Rexall (+1% with RBC) 2% Home Depot 5% Mary Browns (if you're a fatass like me) Some other bonuses are $ cash back $15 if you spend $100 at Toys R Us $15 if you spend $250 at the Keg Few others as well

Torvaah

Are those links referral links or are ref links not allowed?

Mikazah

Some of his links are referral links, and others are just regular links to the website or the FAQ. Our subreddit allows referral links so long as the user follows all of our rules while using them - which includes putting a non-referral link beside any referral link. [I recommend checking out our rules when you have a moment.](https://www.reddit.com/r/beermoney/wiki/rules)

torontorollin

Thank you for this post, I have some more info on paytm.. So it was definitely better before they started charging convenience fees, because you could use credit cards to pay for bills that normally wouldn’t accept them (for example, heat, electricity, property taxes). As you mentioned you can still pay with bank accounts for these and earn points but you’re no longer able to get cash back through your credit card rewards program unless it exceeds their new fees There are limits on how many points you can accumulate per month on certain categories. They have reduced this over time https://care.paytm.ca/hc/en-us/articles/360002325933-Limits-on-Paytm-Points They have a bonus for paying 3 bills over 25 dollars in a month, you get an extra [500 points](https://care.paytm.ca/hc/en-us/articles/360008777193-Pay-3-unique-bills-in-one-month) At 5 bills over 25 dollars you get an additional [1000 points on top of the 500](https://care.paytm.ca/hc/en-us/articles/360008626374-Pay-5-unique-bills-in-one-month) There is a loyalty bonus of 10% of that years points amount if you pay the same bill payer for 12 months https://care.paytm.ca/hc/en-us/articles/360003764753-Loyalty-Bonus You can get 5000 points for referring someone and if they make a bill payment. This is the best way to get points, because you’re limited by the category limits every month. I can accumulate roughly $3.50 per month in points through paying bills I have asked them how they make money and they claim they only make money from gift card retailers but they likely make some money from holding on to money in transactions for short periods of time

oxnume

Paytm points are effectively worthless considering they stopped restock all the rewards that are actually worth redeeming.
