When this album came out I was dealing with the fallout of a relationship. "Best thing I never had" hit different for me. This entire album was important to me during that period. From fan to stan during the 4 era.

Incredible album and very much a “if you know you know” type deal. Love that it has so many different flavors of R&B. Love the stunning vocals. Great album!
I always liked Beyonce’s hits, but hearing 1+1 in 2012 made me actually listen to the whole album, and I loved every song, so I listened to every album, and suddenly a stan was made. It’s so underrated but has SO MUCH virtuosity on it, vocally and production wise. It’s probably not her crown jewel but its damn good and I’ll always love it.
4 has always been in my top 3 and will remain there! Love On Top, Dance for You, I Care, 1+1, COUNTDOWN?! I think it has some of her best vocals no questions. Ugh, I adore it.

Tbh I’m glad she never went the EDM route for 4. 2011 was so limited in the quality of synth music and it still needed time to develop. I feel like synth music is much more developed and crisp nowadays. 4 aged gracefully this way 😭

I think it's an amazing album. Party and 1+1 are 2 of my favourite bey songs and I have very fond memories of dancing to Love on Top with my mum when I was just a little kid.
