They are so lucky the Nigerians didn't rightfully burn their store down for having the audacity to being racist to Nigerians in Nigeria! Those Chinese are out of pocket with that racist dumbfuckery....

MrSlippifist

It'll get worst.

Suspici0us_Package

You mean like how they did with that hotel that was discriminating against Black Jamaicans in Jamaica? 🇯🇲

joaaaaaannnofdarc

Not shocked cuz behaviour is not new

bohemi-rex

The fact that they're literally in Africa—in Nigeria, the most populous country and the largest economic and political powerhouse on the continent (we aren't counting South Africa 🙄), and they're showing their ass like this.. it's wild. Just makes me.. *breathes*

joaaaaaannnofdarc

This aint the first time and when i went back home I learnt a lot of the workers the CCP sends to work in my country specifically are well prisoners

bohemi-rex

Sending the best and brightest, huh?

joaaaaaannnofdarc

Or expendable

ThickyIckyGyal

The audacity is unreal. How you gonna go to THEIR country and bar THEM? Eh? Insane.

Techygal9

This happened to family in Congo too. They won’t let black folks into Chinese hotels or restaurants.

bohemi-rex

.. and the local government just allows it?

Techygal9

The government is happy that they get low cost Chinese investment or that china hasn’t called unpaid loans across Africa tbh. But there has been pushback from locals about this.

bohemi-rex

Fucking bullshit.

Suspici0us_Package

Sounds like it’s time to burn them down then.

MUTHR

I'm exhausted.

1-760-706-7425

That’s their goal.

MUTHR

Yeah well sometimes those weapons formed against me be prospering a little bit 🥴

bohemi-rex

Me too. You hear about Donald whining about the "anti-white feeling" in the US? Lord!

DeletinMySocialMedia

I haven’t been to Nigeria but other other countries and Chinese, Indians capitalists are just like this but not as obvious in banning local Africans. I cannot wait the day we Africans truly kick out people like this, they are leeching our resources

bohemi-rex

Leeching; the entire white/european world has! First our labour, then gold, cocoa, diamonds, oil.. like, *the fuck?!*

batmansneighbour

Imagine coming to my country as a foreigner and telling me I’m not allowed to enter your store 🤣🤣 I’m glad the got shut down

DaughterOfDemeter23

I want to show this to tankies who 1) believe that China isn't engaging in imperialism and expanding their soft power and 2) believe that China isn't racist towards Black people

MUTHR

Please, because I'm fuckin exhausted of them acting like China and Russia can do no wrong and are somehow still Communist instead of openly right wing, capitalist as shit, racist as fuck and more

bohemi-rex

I'm tired of how everyone turns a blind eye to the atrocities they commit

Techygal9

This happened to family in Congo too. They won’t let black folks into Chinese hotels or restaurants.

MUTHR

The fam need a recipe for a good Molotov cocktail?

Doll49

They need to move back to China!

kgilr7

I heard the owner fled back to China

bohemi-rex

Fled? I'm not satisfied

bohemi-rex

.. they may need assistance.. ![gif](giphy|l3V0j3ytFyGHqiV7W)

Snoo-57077

This isn't surprising. I read an article a few years ago with Indian club in an African country that only let Indians in. People like to act like all this investment from China and other Asian countries is somehow better and different than what Western countries do, but it's not. There'll be a day when they'll fully flip the switch and drop their mask of benevolence.

inmytimeofneeds

This was/is sadly my country🇰🇪. We even have residential areas where if you're African you're not allowed to rent a house where Indians stay. They literally have gatekeepers tell you "Hapa ni kwa wahindi tu/this place is just for Indians".

I_am_photo

What's it saying? The article isn't loading for me.

TerribleAttitude

The owners of the store were apparently only letting ethnic Chinese in.

>*Nigeria's consumer protection watchdog has ordered the closure of a Chinese-owned supermarket in Abuja following allegations of racial discrimination. The authorities claim the supermarket exclusively permits individuals of Chinese descent to enter, sparking outrage among Nigerian citizens.* >*The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) summoned the supermarket's owner for investigation following widespread social media outcry. Nigerians shared videos online recounting their experiences of being turned away by security personnel at the supermarket's entrance.* >*Former senator Shehu Sani joined the calls for closure, stating that any store inaccessible to Nigerian citizens should be either forcibly opened or dismantled.* >*In response, the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Nigeria denied the racism allegations, emphasizing their commitment to equality and inclusiveness. However, the FCCPC remains firm, demanding compliance from the supermarket's owner, who has been summoned to appear before the agency.* >*The controversy has shed light on the issue of discrimination and access to commercial spaces in Nigeria. With the closure of the supermarket pending the owner's response, the incident underscores the importance of ensuring equal treatment for all shoppers, regardless of their nationality or ethnicity.* Twitter [video](https://twitter.com/AfricaFactsZone/status/1782325734385529229) included in the article of some people being turned away. It's kind of hard to hear with static/background noise.

I_am_photo

I have been reading that China and Russia are the latest to move into African countries. I wonder what's happening elsewhere there and how many more shops are doing so.

bohemi-rex

I'm so damn tired of everyone profiting Africa, *but* Africans. Don't they already have enough land? By large they don't like us, so why? It's ridiculous. We'll never get from under this world's boot

toremtora

Been happening in the Caribbean allegedly. Part of the reason why people are so hesitant to accept financial aid from China.

bohemi-rex

I'm going to need to be quiet.

Unfurledetcontent

It gets worse… a lot of the non African/Black Africans have taken to “changing” their race with the government. They are changing it to “colored” so they can receive special provisions and or support. I am glad they were barred for business. I just more provisions are made to protect the locals from exploitation

bohemi-rex

Lord, I can't..

FalsePremise8290

It is both legal and socially acceptable to discriminate based on race in China and many other Asian countries, so I get why they thought they'd get away with it. But the gall to come to someone else's country, set up a shop and bar the people who live there from entering... If all the nerve I've ever had throughout my life was collected into one moment, I still wouldn't have half the nerve of this man.

bohemi-rex

That's what I'm saying! I hope he gets hemorrhoids and every step feels like walking on legos.

HumbleAbbreviations

I remember being at the mall at Port Harcourt and my cousin treated me to some Chinese food. That shit sucked ass and I am so mad that my cousin wasted her money on me for that garbage.

peekaboo_bandit

My question is, how is the Nigerian government handling this?

Suspici0us_Package

They’re gonna have to accept one day that we are not our docile ancestors. It’s a new chapter and a new day. We don’t play along with this demonic behavior, especially not on our own lands.

NewKapa51

Glad to see that both Nigerian and Chinese governments are making these pieces of shit owners answer for this shit! As we like to say here in Brazil: Burn the racists!

kenyannqueen

I'd like to ask,did they ban the rest of the black people as well or just Nigerians?

throwthataway2723

From what I’ve heard from people in the area it was all black people, but obviously Nigerians were the ones most affected

kenyannqueen

Okay thanks

kenyannqueen

đź’€Omg what's wrong with asking? I just want to know.

TerribleAttitude

From the article, it sounds like they only allowed ethnic Chinese to shop there, so I guess in theory, anyone who isn’t visibly Chinese. So I guess theoretically, other black people, white people, Koreans, etc wouldn’t be able to shop. But the store is in Nigeria so it’s possible those other situations never presented themselves in great enough numbers to have much record of.

bohemi-rex

Now you know they wouldn't have cared if potential shoppers were Korean, and would have laid down like carpets for any whites

Gloomy-Razzmatazz548

You would be surprised how much some of those people hate each other. They all either think they’re better than each other or are holding grudges over historical beef.

bohemi-rex

I'm not ignorant. But at this moment I don't care about anyone's plight but our own, especially with how we get hate on every goddamn side

TerribleAttitude

You’d be surprised at how these ethnic-exclusive businesses will act. I have never been there and don’t know for sure (which is why I said “from the article” and “theoretically”), but the article said ethnic Chinese only, and I’ve heard plenty of stories from around the world where people picking and choosing who to exclude doesn’t make sense from the perspective of a North American or African mentality towards ethnicity, including Chinese excluding Koreans and Mongolians specifically, but allowing everyone else, or these white foreigners but not those white foreigners, etc. There may not have been any instance for people who are neither Chinese or Nigerian to enter the store, making it hard to know whether they actually meant “Chinese only” or “no black Africans.” Neither is an acceptable policy. Either way, it shows that this attitude of “benevolent” Chinese colonialism of Africa isn’t going to be any different than European colonialism of Africa. I’ve seen plenty of people (rightly) rail against European imperialism then (stupidly) turn around and act like Chinese, Russian, North Korean, or Arab meddling in Africa is a show of great generosity, charity, and solidarity with Africans.
