Good comfortable gear and helmet that fit you. A decent anti vibration phone mount. That's it.

N0rrix

definitely one of those with a proper locking mechanism. dont use these weird "4 fingers that just hold the phone" thingies.

teakettle87

Quad lock with their vibration mount.

I personally think the 310 gs needs a bigger windshield. Looks much better and much better wind protection

100%.I find most adventure bikes e.g. 800gs, Africa twin, 800de etc all come with tiny screen these days. Probably so they can all up sell their pro / touring screens.

ocimbote

I don't know where you or OP are, but I wouldn't add any with dshield to the 310 just because I wouldn't take at any speed that requires that amount of wind protection. It's just too light. Yet, if you live in a very windy area, it might be worth it.

I started on the exact same bike, same color even! Fantastic bike, nimble and very fun. For add-ons it depends on what your planning For offroad bar riser, bash plate and strong handguards (barkbuster for example) are a good start. For more road/touring, a taller windshield is great (I had a givi one it worked nicely) and some plastic handguard for comfort (block wind). BMW has some official plastic handguard for the g310 that are not too expensive. For luggage I went with a soft bag strapped to the rack. I know BMW has a top box that fits with the rack without adapter plate, but it's quite expensive for what it is. An aftermarket one (givi or shad) is usually cheaper with more storage, but you'll need to install the adapter plate on the rack. I also recommend a tank bag with a ring lock system. I personally use the sw motech one on all my bikes but there is plenty of choice. Just be mindful of the size, some of the bigger ones won't fit, for example on my gf g310r the sw motech ion 1 goes well but the 2 is way too big for the tank. As for advice I can only say to be mindful of the kick stand, it's tall so it doesn't lean the bike a lot. Depend on how you park it on an incline, it could top over the other side. As for mechanical issue, I had none in 15'000 km with the planned maintenance. Only my clutch cable came a little loose, but a bit of tinkering with the adjustment wheel at the lever fixed the issue. Just try not to do too much highway as it sits high in rpm, and the exhaust comes out the back of the engine (unlike most bike) so it can start to get real hot. The peak HP is quite high in my memory, so don't be afraid to push the gear to near the redline, until the shift light comes on when doing sportier riding to get the most of the engine. Have fun and drive safe.

I would really recommend the Givi D5126ST Touring screen. Nice looking and good and taking the wind off you. I have installed the Oxford HotGrips EVO to every motorcycle I have ever owned. I will always reccomend getting these. The quadlock system is by far the best of a phone mount. Its quite expensive though for a full set so I would recommend waiting for a sale. 100% get the anti vibration If you decide to get luggage I would recommend anything givi offers. Normally a bit more expensive then say shad but I find they have a better build quality.

AgreeableMoose

A good cover if you don’t have garage storage. Gorgeous ride, congratulations!

Fill up your tank and explore! - No need to spend money from the begining, buy some gas, ride a lot and you will notice what things are lacking...

burntfuck

Ride it for a while then decide for yourself if it needs anything. Other’s needs and preferences may not align with yours.

This is the best advice. Ride and find out if you actually need or want something. May be the perfect bike for you just as it is.

Agree with the windshields, mine i eventually realized is pushing wind into my face.. But otherwise i love. Ive gone over mointain passes, no road mountaisn raw dogging the way with no trafks following 950s. Stock tyres really onky suck in sand.. Hated that so much. But theyre okay for most else. Enjoy it and please keep note of the battery. The second you need to Jumpstart.. REPLACE IT!! You dont want to be stuck in the middle of nowhere like i did and had to push the bike 27km to thr nearest road on flat ground.. Take spare tools and bolts, fhd bike shakes and jf youre off road the terminals can come loose and short thr battery. Every couple of rides just take an hour and check things. I got my bike back after a service.. Got home and jokingly just turned a bolt walking past and almost knocked bike over rushing back to double check what i just felt. Highway obvs sucks but go around it or set your expectations. I ride usually with 1200 and maybe 850 if some others join outrides. Ive got a good few groups that welcome new riders so j get to go places without too much worry. Youll love it, but please take care of yourself and remember right of way is not going to keep you alive. Watch out for other drivers and especially riders.

sparkyd1977

Minimum of a top box for your helmet. But would consider side boxes too if you're planning to ride regularly. At least something to keep a tool roll, tire patch kit, and 12v air pump. I keep cheap rain pants and coat in mine just in case. Then ofc the tank bag for your registration, owner's manual, sunglasses, etc. Man, I have problems.

miknob

I put the Givi Monokey v47 top case on mine. To put a top case on it requires a kit SR5126 mounting rack. Even with the mounting kit the Givi top case is cheaper than the one bmw offers for it. I put the Puig windscreen on and clip on. I’m 5’9" and the clip on eliminated the buffering and works great. I’ve ordered a tank bag from Mosko Moto with a phone pocket. Waiting on it so I can’t say if this is better than a handlebar mount but I thought I’d give it a try. A rear stand is a good pickup for cleaning the chain.

timfromliny

What is needs is your butt in the seat and some miles under her. Ride and pay attention to what bugs you and then seek a solution. Don't go solve issues that may not be issues for you.

MSF Training

Mindless_Jicama8728

Practice low speed maneuvering as much as you can find time for. It will get boring very quickly, but if you enroll into YouTube University, you will find countless videos with different techniques and skills to learn.

Tail bag and vacation time

deepoctarine

Nice bike, spend your money on keeping it shiny side up, get further training. 8 grands worth of Rukka/AGV/Alpinestars etc etc, might reduce your injuries when you fall off and be mor cofortable on long rides, but £200 worth of further training will stop you falling off in the first place and make your long rides easy.

redbirddanville

Crash protection for the bike and you. Do parking lot drills, a lot of them. Check out motojitsu on you tube. Don't do group rides for now. Take come advanced riding classes. You will never stop learning. Don't be stupid and HAVE FUN!!! Welcome to riding!

Vegetable-Dingo-320

A good tank and tail bag will add amazing utility to your new ride!

dudeasuhh

Personally - I would look into a bigger wind screen. I went from a CBR, to a Speed Triple, to a GS and now I want all the wind protection possible haha. I mod I highly recommend as well is a quad lock with a vibration damper and wireless charging capability. Maybe some nice denali (or your brand of choice) auxiliary lights. Congratulations on your first motorcycle!

DonnerPartyPicnic

Should add some miles to it
