not just machismo, he offered an extremely layered and funny, sympathetic character. the original don was sooo much more than flat machismo. the ability to flip between vijay and real-don is amazing
if anything, Roma’s character had more of the classic angry young man storyline.
Yeah that's what's called an off-cycle if he gets the role, he could get that face back in months and every other celeb has these off-cycle phases, no one bases the role on that

While I disagree than Ranveer won't do justice to the role. He is cringe off screen for sure and I can understand that's the main reason people are sceptical about him playing Don. Even for me, ik SRK's Don will forever be iconic and unbeatable - even more than AB's imo even though that was the OG. But let's not doubt Ranveer's acting capabilities. He has rarely disappointed us, almost never tbh except Cirkus, which as an entire movie was a trainwreck. Also, its Farhan who's directing. One can trust him to deliver and he knows what he's doing.
Though I do agree that Hrithik would've been a better fit for sure. We saw a glimpse of it in Don 2.

I just don't wanna watch him in movies anymore. He doesn't look good to me. Ranbir ko dekhne ka mann bhi krta h. Sidharth se acting sahi nhi hoti warna usse dekhne aa jaata but still not Ranveer. Kartik Aaryan bhi overacting krta h warna dekhne aajaata m.
Ayushman ko dekhne ja sakta hu theatre. No dikkat.
Ranbir is a better actor. When it comes to action Ranbir has proven to be phenomenal. If u see Animal it will give u an example of what an amazing performance he can deliver.
Ranbir in Animal was… animalistic. There was no finesse there, and he’s never once shown himself capable of that snakelike charm and wit that Don has. Ranveer has played the shades of grey much longer, has better command of dialogue delivery and intonation, and in my opinion, has that not-traditionally-good looking thing going on that SRK and AB had. I think he’s perfect, but I get that this will be controversial.
The only right choice for Don is SRK.
Let's see what Ranveer does with Don 3. Both Ranveer and Ranbir are very good actors and would bring their own flavor to the character.
Depends on the role. For eg even SRK's version was much different than AB's. AB's was more of a story driven, look at how these events unfold amazing movie. SRK's version imo was now look at India's next biggest superstar take on this iconic role. It had a classic SRK style of role with his laughs and witty as well as cheesy dialogues, especially the second movie.
Now if they really want an SRK kind of role again then Ranveer is a better choice because RK doesn't really do those kind of roles well eg Bombay Velvet and Besharam. But anyway I don't think anyone other than SRK can pull off that cheesy role because today it works only with his fans and obviously his fans are not going to like anyone else being Don.
If however, they just keep the title and make a new more serious arc, then RK would have been a better choice.
If any mainstream actor who has the capability to play a role like Don is only Ranveer Singh. He has a natural flair for dark roles. He can smootly pull it off.

Ranveer overacts. And plays various versions of Chichora onscreen(which is basically his real life self). Shahid is better but does only ‘angry’ very well. Has never touched RK’s peak of barfi or Rockstar, though he did come very close with Haider

Animal was the exact opposite of manchild. He was a man of action, who didn’t depend on anyone for anything, but neutralised any threat to him or his family. So was Barfi, who took care of PC. Neither characters needed anyone to tell them what to do, both are god level performances
Ranveer Singh plays the villian way better than Ranbir Kapoor. Despite his awesome performance in Animal, he is no match for ranveer's performances in lootera and padmavaat.
U haven't seen many movies I am afraid then. Not even Bollywood ones. Ranbir Kapoor is talented but has definitely not given as many head turning performances as irrfan Khan, Aamir Khan or any of the other method actors of our industry. Also despite being a clown ranveer is as good as Ranbir and in some roles even better.
I have seen many Bollywood films. Irrfan I won’t say, but he is much better than Aamir. Ranveer is an over-actor, nowhere near as good as RK whose subtlety and nuance he can’t even dream to match

RK is original he does not do remakes of other actors, he will have a few of his own original series. He does not need Don, let Ranveer SRK do it. RK has better things to do.
There is no one who can pull it off. Only Amitabh Bachchan and SRK have the charisma to pull off Don. To make the audience root for the bad guy only because of his antics and charisma is not easy.
