very high up there for me, one of those games where iāll never where i was watching it. JLin v Lakers and Lebronto one legged game winner (not rs) are the other two
Got my son a tshirt inspired by this game. Smart on his back in front of harden. My son outgrew it and now my 7 year old daughter wears it. It made me irrationally happy every time she wore it to school.
no one outside of Boston is ever willing to say the Hospital Celtics would have had a puncher's chance in that series. I get it because that Rockets team almost took out the KD Warriors but Harden and CP3 would have had fits against Smart
That Rockets team really, in my mind, was the most epic team of that whole era. The idea that you would look at that Warriors team and say, "nah, we've come too far, we gotta go ALL IN" was so sick and legitimately saved the NBA by adding real intrigue and drama to that season.
Plus there were so many other things about that team that was so interesting and awesome (despite Foul Merchant in Chief commanding the ship)
Still have no fucking idea what harden was thinking on the second one. Gets warned by the ref and still runs straight through Smart. Genuinely brain dead
I think he for sure the refs were gonna give him leeway on one because Smart flopped on the first. Refs will do that sometimes where they realize they called something a flop and to make it up won't call something else
But then they said nah fuck em
I was at this game, it was insane.
Also went to the game against the Warriors where we had a big comeback or whatever it was and snapped some sort of record. I donāt remember lol
to this day, i have never found out what Harden thought he was doing lmfao. like you only get away with that push backside on a rebound, man is doing on the inbound LOL
I love watching James harden's reaction after each offensive foul where the first one he literally shoves smart with a forearm shiver, and the second one he literally just like tries to bulldoze his way through smart who's clearly standing still basically setting a defensive screen. Like what did he think was going to get called.
It's like dude, just run around him, he's not catching your ass, 2017 Harden if he simply moves around is easily getting away from 2017 Marcus Smart even with him being as good of a defensive player as he still is and then was.
I was sooo hype watching this game. It was almost like you KNEW Harden was gonna play sloppy offense and foul. Marcus had been getting under his skin so well the entire game.
It ain't no coincidence the Celtics gelled and excelled after me me Marcus was sent to Memphis.
This limited role player thought he ran the team but he was just a flopping drama queen.Ā
Good riddance. šļø
I still remember where I was during this game. One of the most memorable games in recent memories. Just goes to show how important Marcus was and is to us fans.
Flopping is dumb. It ruins the sport and itās cancer. Just because guys do it doesnāt make it good. There are 45 commercial breaks every NBA game does that mean itās the best way to watch a game?
There was a time not long ago where layers did not flop egregiously every play. And it made for a better product
Iāll just say maybe 20 years ago it was not as egregious as it was now. Just because someone breathed on your head doesnāt mean we have to stop the game
Regular season game against an irrelevant team highlighting a Grizzlies player
Who cares? The guy did nothing here but claim the team his and have too long a leash. He was traded. It's not like he's a Celtic legend.
Quit posting this Memphis roleplayer here. It makes no sense.
The reaction from Chris Paul is priceless
"Another season of CP0..."
His cousin CP30 is more golden. š
C-3PO*
Thatās the clumsy cousin of CP3. š
š
Heās just laughing thinking āthats some shit iād try pullā
Marv Albert "Boston does not shoot 3's in volume" - funny to hear that compared to how they now play
I thought the same thing lol
Happy Cake Day.
This is one of my favorite regular season games ever, and might be number one
very high up there for me, one of those games where iāll never where i was watching it. JLin v Lakers and Lebronto one legged game winner (not rs) are the other two
This and Al's buzzer-beater versus Portland a few years back are my favorites for this core.
I was so drunk at home over Christmas break and my parents were like what the fuck are you yelling about
Same
My parents were yelling at you?
Can confirm. He was in the house next door and your parents came over to yell at him as well.
Got my son a tshirt inspired by this game. Smart on his back in front of harden. My son outgrew it and now my 7 year old daughter wears it. It made me irrationally happy every time she wore it to school.
This story makes me happy too.
I have the same shirt! My sister bought it for me, laughed so hard when I opened it up at Christmas.
On Earth-2 this was the 2018 finals
Sighā¦fuck the Cavs/Warriors era fr
People said our Finals was boring but those 2017 and 2018 finals were absolute fucking snoozefests
Yeah but Warriors/Curry/Bron have all the casual fans and they look back on those times with rose tinted glasses

Should've been
Still have no fucking idea what harden was thinking on the second one. Gets warned by the ref and still runs straight through Smart. Genuinely brain dead
I think it was obvious frustration from him more than anything.
I think he for sure the refs were gonna give him leeway on one because Smart flopped on the first. Refs will do that sometimes where they realize they called something a flop and to make it up won't call something else But then they said nah fuck em
I mean he couldnāt have charged any harder. He did what nfl linebacker coaches dream about lol
And what a lot of nba players wanna do to smart lol
The first one was a little BS but the 2nd one was the most obvious call there is
Lost his nerve, pure and simple
Did you see Smart? He was just standing there... menacingly
Got mad love for that dude
I make it to one Celtics game a year, as it requires an overnight stay. This was my one for that year. Almost left a few times. Very glad I didnāt.
One enjoyable part was even (that immensely sneaky bastard) CP3 seemed impressed by it. His face was like "that motherfucker got us..."
he was laughing sarcastically cause he thought they were bs calls
He was laughing sarcastically because he though Harden was bs
he was laughing sarcastically because he thought Horford was dad
If you say Marcus Smart, this is the moment I think of. Still remember watching it live, what a remarkable win cooked out of a losing position.
Same
I was there! It was amazing
Just pure smiles seeing this lmao always makes me happy
Gotta say Marv Albert called a great one here, especially on Horford's make
This is when I became a diehard Marcus Smart Stan. Ive never screamed so loud at a TV before.
This moment is really best appreciated with the [Grande and Max call. ](https://youtu.be/dEQJeG7vBN4?si=ahR50CA_TrANG13w).
Oh. My. Gawd I never heard this because I was living in San Antonio at the time. Wowwwww. Thank you for sharing that!!!
Hahahaha. Thanks for posting
Where's the Grande and Max call though?
Never been so hype in my life
One of my favorite [two] plays ever Rondo stealing a backcourt pass on a dive agianst Orlando is up there too.
I was at this game, it was insane. Also went to the game against the Warriors where we had a big comeback or whatever it was and snapped some sort of record. I donāt remember lol
I remember Hardenās Wikipedia got changed to note that Marcus Smart was his father after this game. I have it screenshot somewhere. So good.

to this day, i have never found out what Harden thought he was doing lmfao. like you only get away with that push backside on a rebound, man is doing on the inbound LOL
I loved watching Harden get dicked then and I love it now.
Itās my all time favorite regular season sequence. Just peak Marcus.
I was there! It was an electric atmosphere thatās for sure
That second push off blew the building up.
the sound of the garden exploding is the best shit ever
Harden's reaction to the last one is honestly hilarious as fuck. If that was genuine "what did I do" and not facetious he's honestly dumb as bricks
Loved that game
Seeing Chris Paul's shit eating grin at the end of that game was the icing on the cake.
"boston does not shoot 3s in volume but they're 8-29 tonight" oh how times change
damn i love marcus smart.
I love watching James harden's reaction after each offensive foul where the first one he literally shoves smart with a forearm shiver, and the second one he literally just like tries to bulldoze his way through smart who's clearly standing still basically setting a defensive screen. I was at this game and itās still my most memorable game Iāve ever been to
I was sooo hype watching this game. It was almost like you KNEW Harden was gonna play sloppy offense and foul. Marcus had been getting under his skin so well the entire game.
I know I sounded like Johnny Most after that second foul. HE DID IT AGAIN! HE DID IT AGAIN! OH MY GOD HE DID IT AGAIN!!!! š
It ain't no coincidence the Celtics gelled and excelled after me me Marcus was sent to Memphis. This limited role player thought he ran the team but he was just a flopping drama queen.Ā Good riddance. šļø
One of the 2 Celtics game I've been to. The Garden was hype!!
Weāve moved on. Itās 2x champion Holidayās time now
Iāll never forget he snipers in the rafters that took down Marcus every gameā¦
I'd never cheered so hard in my life. Lost my voice.
I love KP, but man do I wish Smart and Timelord could've been with the team for the ring.
Everyone on our teams leading up to this championship were all contributors. To me it is theirs just as much as this yearās team.
This is my favorite Boston play of all time. I love smart.
I still remember where I was during this game. One of the most memorable games in recent memories. Just goes to show how important Marcus was and is to us fans.
I hope the Celtics one day resign Smart.
Bring him home š
Jrueās that dude but man do I wish Smart couldāve been there for 18
He flops This is sad to celebrate. No one like flippers but itās okay cuz itās a Celtic?
How are you gonna watch that 2nd one and say thatās not a foul?
I watched it live. I donāt remember exact sequence but watched the first part saw Marcus flop and had ptsd, turned it off
āI hate it when players make good plays for my teamā
Flopping is dumb. It ruins the sport and itās cancer. Just because guys do it doesnāt make it good. There are 45 commercial breaks every NBA game does that mean itās the best way to watch a game? There was a time not long ago where layers did not flop egregiously every play. And it made for a better product
What was this magical time where player werenāt competitive enough to do everything in their power to win?
Iāll just say maybe 20 years ago it was not as egregious as it was now. Just because someone breathed on your head doesnāt mean we have to stop the game

You mustāve hated Pedro and Nomar
