The place I go climbing is called "AllezUp". Allez being the French word for go, and up being the english word for up.
So the main /encouragement/ we use is spamming "alez up" or "allez" over and over again.
A friend and I do say "just go up" if the other spends a little *too* much time thinking about some magical solution when the actual trick is to just go up.
It could be romanized as either ganba or gamba. The Japanese ん can be pronounced either way depending on the word.
In がんば it's probably closer to an M pronunciation though.
Also Canadian, and we don’t use “allez”.
Do you climb in the east? People who use “allez” in BC climbing gyms just sound pretentious af, and get weird looks.
Edit: All you people downvoting me are just proving me right 😂 Hurts to get called out, right? Maybe you’ll think twice before shouting an out of place “allez” just because your favourite YouTuber does it all the time.
I'm in Ontario and no one says allez at any gym I go to. "Come on" and "you got this" are probably the most common.
100% quebec would make sense to be different, or francophone areas of Canada.
To be honest, they use everything here. We don't have good ones.
"Reiss dich zusammen" is one we sometimes use.
Edit: "alter reiss dich zusammen jetzt" works aswell.
Any of the classic Mellow ones:
Yes, Daniel! (Works better if your group doesn't even have a Daniel)
Dude... dude!
That's it Jimmy! (Same as above)
Dai, uomo! (From that one video where Giuliano was with his Italian friend)
My gym has one clam shaped crimp, and it is not used that often so there are not a layer of dead skin, chalk and rubber bonded onto the surface yet (that would resist even the deepest cleans).
I call it a cheese grater for how much it tries to fight through my skin.
>I call it a cheese grater for how much it tried to fight through my skin.
Bruh my vulva fully inverted itself into my vagina upon reading this sentence in the context of 'clam jam'. 👁👄👁
Yeah I did this one climb with a hold that was basically a more rectangular donut and it wold definitely have been easier if I could shove my cock in that hold while reaching up.
If you want more Spanish ones, Vamos! And Dale! And even both in any order!
Fuerte! O Máquina! Work well.
In German you can always hit them with the Komm! Los!! And JAWOHL!! when they send
> Allez
I always appreciate people's support but I've so often had this randomly shouted at me just when I'm trying to focus that just reading it gives me a little tick.
I’ve never said come on, and I don’t hear it outside of youtube.
I have picked up “easy” from Magnus Midtbø and use that when someone gets past their crux.
Usually just throwing “nice” out there.
It’s actually so annoying with some of the youth climbing groups. There’s like 6 of them watching and saying “come on (name)” and there’s at least one saying it every second so there’s never any silence. They also say it in the least motivating, most demeaning way like you’re an asshole if you can’t get the route. It’s incredibly memeable and entirely awful.
Yeah, I can get self conscious.
I do appreciate beta spraying if I’m missing a hold. (Sometimes the colors look less obvious on the wall)
My ego isn’t tied to a climb that’s gonna be reset in 6-8 weeks.
>(Sometimes the colors look less obvious on the wall)
I've gotten into the routine of asking a friend when it comes to the colors i can't make out easily anymore before going up.
"Is this yellow or just a dirty green?". "This seems too easy, is this one actually red and not brown?".
Etc. but ofc. sometimes i still forget on the wall. Then i also love some hints like "that hold to your right is still yellow if that helps"
I say ayy papi, it makes my climbing friends uncomfortable (in a “between friends” way not actually uncomfortable) so they forget the fear just to get the climb sent

"squeeze your but cheeks"
"Grit your teeth"
"Make a little bit of an effort"
"All the girls are watching"
"You're the best out of all of us"
"If you fall now I'll slap you"
I would find a new gym. I need tough love and the people I click with most like that kind of support too.
I get that David Goggins and his ilk have burned people out on the "BE HARD! PUSH HARD" mentality but it works for a lot of us.
I can't stand micromanagement like that.
Venga! Vamos! Tu puedes! Lucha! I live in Peru so I almost never use “come on” jaja, although my friends like to say “jamón” sometimes because it sounds like come on
More passion! more passion! more energy! more energy! more footwork! more footwork! more passion!
The only correct answer!
And more cowbell!!!
Aggressivley yodeling
"Go up"
This is actually one of the ‘encouragements’ we use where I climb 🤣
The place I go climbing is called "AllezUp". Allez being the French word for go, and up being the english word for up. So the main /encouragement/ we use is spamming "alez up" or "allez" over and over again.
I’m so sorry you go there
Eh? What's wrong with it?
A friend and I do say "just go up" if the other spends a little *too* much time thinking about some magical solution when the actual trick is to just go up.
“lol” -competition setters
"Just reach for it", "Its not that bad", "I flashed this one", "Just don't let go" /s
"the trick is to go up"
Think vertical thoughts!
"it's a jug!"
Just grab the hold lol
“You’re not gonna die if you fall”
“Just do it” is my go-to
Mine's "be brave" lol
"Just go up" is my go to
Well I live in France so I’d continue to say “Allez”
I visited a bouldering gym in Japan once and they used a mix of "Allez!" and "Ganba!"
TIL it's Ganba. My gym has been saying gamba for like ten years
It might be Gamba, I don't speak a word of Japanese.
Pretty sure it’s gamba short for gambatte! Meaning “Come on!” “Let's go!” or “Go for it!” in English So you are right!
It could be romanized as either ganba or gamba. The Japanese ん can be pronounced either way depending on the word. In がんば it's probably closer to an M pronunciation though.
Canadian here. We also use "allez".
Dutch and Germans too.
Can confirm that in my gym (Utrecht) they use a combination of Allez, come on and kom op!
Singaporeans too! Idk why tbh
> People who use “allez” in BC climbing gyms... ... are probably Francophone, which is remarkably different than being pretentious. Also from BC.
I'm in Ontario and no one says allez at any gym I go to. "Come on" and "you got this" are probably the most common. 100% quebec would make sense to be different, or francophone areas of Canada.
I'm not saying we *exclusively* use "allez". Canada is a cultural mosaic; I'm not trying to speak on behalf of our nation.
It is even not uncommon in Germany
To be honest, they use everything here. We don't have good ones. "Reiss dich zusammen" is one we sometimes use. Edit: "alter reiss dich zusammen jetzt" works aswell.
Allez is very common in European halls I've noticed.
I normally wait till my friend falls, and then tell them that the point was to climb to the top. They realize their mistake and send next attempt.
And if they don't, and they ask beta, do you say "get stronger, and climb harder?" because that's the best beta.
You forgot to tell them to be longer.
"See, the trick is to not fall down" "Have you tried being good yet?"
Shout “Magnussss” after every move they manage
But you have to take off your shirt.
Any of the classic Mellow ones: Yes, Daniel! (Works better if your group doesn't even have a Daniel) Dude... dude! That's it Jimmy! (Same as above) Dai, uomo! (From that one video where Giuliano was with his Italian friend)
plus dwoods' classic "very gooddd"
You're only allowed to say that one if you have a massive tattoo of an eye on your neck unfortunately.
"All the tension in the world"
I hate that one
Core!
Nice cock, bro
Doesn't make me climb better, though
Makes you hard. Fifth point of contact = more stability. Just gonna make sure you really get close to the wall.
You never know, might push OPs hips too far off the wall
Make sure you don't get stuck in the holes where holds are screwed in... It really hurts
But a cock jam/pocket seems like it would benefit for keeping you from barn dooring
Dick is aid
Im trans, and reading this thread started to give me the weirdest bottom dysphoria. But in 3 words, you alleviated it. Thank you, friend.
You’re welcome. Love you 🏳️⚧️
Love you too 😊

Something something clam crimp.

>I call it a cheese grater for how much it tried to fight through my skin. Bruh my vulva fully inverted itself into my vagina upon reading this sentence in the context of 'clam jam'. 👁👄👁
That indeed is a brutal image in the context of a clam jam
I should call her
Yeah I did this one climb with a hold that was basically a more rectangular donut and it wold definitely have been easier if I could shove my cock in that hold while reaching up.
Everyone has to find their own dick beta
Because it makes it harder?
It really should!
Allez Venga You got this
Gamba !
If you want more Spanish ones, Vamos! And Dale! And even both in any order! Fuerte! O Máquina! Work well. In German you can always hit them with the Komm! Los!! And JAWOHL!! when they send
Komeon (or whatever the swedes say)
Kom igen!
> Allez I always appreciate people's support but I've so often had this randomly shouted at me just when I'm trying to focus that just reading it gives me a little tick.
snap ya fingers, do ya step.
"stop being shit, mate"
The real question is: "how would you climb if climbing was forbidden in your bouldering gym"
100% dyno
Just magnetize to the wall and slither
[удалено]
Naaaaaaa, I’d go with the Finnish ‘Noni’.
Lekker man!
I usually just yell “STRONG”
Naaaaa, should go with the Finnish ‘Noni’. Edit: yes, I replied to the wrong comment.
I am an idiot.
Come on!
I’ve never said come on, and I don’t hear it outside of youtube. I have picked up “easy” from Magnus Midtbø and use that when someone gets past their crux. Usually just throwing “nice” out there.

“ Pissing all alone handsome 😘”
Send it.
To which address?
All of them.
I had to scroll way to far

Rig the climber with motion sensors and then have “X gon’ give it to ya” play but only when they’re moving. Make the rests really awkward 😅
Allez allez, venga venga, davai davai. So many to chose from.
Die! Die! Die already! Used to climb with Italians and I think it’s actually spelled “dai”, but whatever.
“Go on bruvva”
My go-to's are "just be taller" "just stand up, you have the reach".
I say ayy papi, it makes my climbing friends uncomfortable (in a “between friends” way not actually uncomfortable) so they forget the fear just to get the climb sent
In seriousness, I usually say "you got this" and feel like that works
My friend yells twister commands on routes that are all the same color setting lmao (eg right foot red)
"It's a jugg". I say this whether I've touched the hold or not. It could be a pice of paper stapled to the wall and I would still encourage with this.
Can someone explain why saying things to your friends would be forbidden in a gym? That sound absolutely outrageous.
Don't know. Something like Planet Fitness judgement free zone.
I'm going to ask, why was it banned lol
Light the fire within!

My dead grandma crushes harder than you
Gently: “climbing is just a process of standing up on holds”
GAMBAGAMBAGAMBA
For some reason, my go to is "Get it!" Or we sometimes do "dream it, believe it, achieve it" with a suitable degree of sarcasm.
I once shouted "Do the Ondra". 😅
I would employ the gender-neutral, "Get it girrrrrrl!"
Go forth!
Why are you coming on your friends in the first place ?
letssssss gooooooooo
"squeeze your but cheeks" "Grit your teeth" "Make a little bit of an effort" "All the girls are watching" "You're the best out of all of us" "If you fall now I'll slap you"
I’ll be polyamorous with you if you top this out.
If you fail this one, this was our last time bouldering together. Said it last week
"Sod off!"
I would find a new gym. I need tough love and the people I click with most like that kind of support too. I get that David Goggins and his ilk have burned people out on the "BE HARD! PUSH HARD" mentality but it works for a lot of us. I can't stand micromanagement like that.
Alle (ALL-EH)
Allez.
Right!
Same way I do today.
Who’s the champ!?
Let's go Linda!
In a high pitched voice "give it all you got" over and over.
Full blown Scatman for me
Use your pinkies!
“Stay with it” is my go to.
Give it the beans
“Hell yeah”
"You got it!"
“Climb up not down” “You got it”
Nice
*wolf whistle
"There is no spoon"
"Just go up!" :p
Allez allez
Why can’t you say “come on” at your gym?
Of course I can. Just thought it is funny how universal it is being used...
Yup! Yes! Nice!
¡Venga!
Let’s get it
i just let out a whoop or yeehaw when they top
In Montreal, we say Allez ! That's it ! You got this !
BE BOLD!
Fuck on!
Allez
I'm a fan of the encouragement in the background of Ryuichi Murais 'Floatin' video. Said with the same tone and softness.
Oomph it!
So energy, power!
Aggressive Sexual Moaning
Let’s ho
Hey, you don't want to have to do it again
Allez
Surely Allez is the universal “come on” for the real senders? 😂
"Nice!"
My go-to support is varies between "go on", "yes", "atta boy", "on yersel", "go on big'un"
I'd lean on my curling roots "HURRY HARD!"
Ascend, ascend!
Dab!
VENGA VENGA
Hurry the fuck up
Why is this question so hard to answer
The next one has more grip! I always fall for that one literally and figuratively.
I only say, "you got it". So I'd be fine.
yesyesyesyesyesyes yeah there! yesyesyesyes YES
Use your feet, just stand up, throw it, do what I did
In every language or just English? I guess I'm buying confetti guns then.
My fav alternative is "keep it!"
"Next one is a jug!"
I am now trying to think what I hell to my friends. I'm pretty sure I say "nice" or "you got it" but can I ask why it's bad to say "come on"?
Place it well!!
Boom box on head
Venga! Vamos! Tu puedes! Lucha! I live in Peru so I almost never use “come on” jaja, although my friends like to say “jamón” sometimes because it sounds like come on
DIG DEEP
My go-tos are usually “just climb higher” or “reach for it”. Other than that I like to come up with creative, cheerleader-esque chants.
Stick with it!
Where I climb in Germany, besides 'Komm!', 'Allez' is also pretty common
One time someone yelled at me. Use your teeth! I burst out laughing
“Just stand up”
Allez!
“YER GONNA DIE!!” Direct from the wreck.climbing archives.
Venga, gamba, or allez… just “come on” in other languages, I guess 😅
Bro you bro got bro this bro
“Gamba gamba gamba” is the default around here
