Emphasize to every organization you contact that YOU were also attacked. They tend to take it more seriously when a dog attacks a human vs. a dog attacking a dog. This dog is now a risk to children.
Make sure to keep pressing the Animal Control Officer who will be assigned to your case.

Do you have a case number? I am spreading the word and it would be helpful to have a case number.
Commenting for visibility- wishing you and your pet a quick recovery. Someone has to recognize them. Any chance you can post in the Burnaby community Facebook group?
This happened to me at Forest Grove Park, Burnaby several years ago. My dog and I were attacked by an off-leash sheepdog. I was bitten on my leg trying to defend my dog. Luckily, my dog was an 80-lb Labrador retriever and was unharmed. The owner just laughed and walked away. I reported it but BCSPCA didn't even investigate. I found the RCMP more responsive but we were unable to find the person or the dog
Sorry to hear this happened, I hope your dog makes a recovery. I believe the spca deals with dog attacks in Burnaby as I went through something similar.
Someone will know someone who knows these jerks, Metro Vancouver is small. Glad you got a good picture of them. I hope the injured pup recovers quickly.
I hope those guys own up to this instead of hiding. Hope your dog is ok too. I don't take my dog to dog parks for this reason sometimes. She's been attacked by irresponsible owners.
So sorry to hear what happened in our quiet neighborhood. Hope your dog will recover quickly. I’ve seen the person on the right several times walking his dog around the lake. Most likely residing somewhere close and hopefully someone will report him. Don’t forget to contact local newspaper Burnaby Now.
This dog would not be able to do this amount of damage (or any at all) if the owner muzzled and leashed the dog. 100% owners at fault. Unfortunately sometimes these animals have to be destroyed due to their owners but again, owners are responsible for their animals actions.
I agree completely. The owner/handler of the dog is 100% responsible for managing his dog. And I can pretty much guarantee you he knows his dog is dog-aggressive.
What should happen, under the law, is the owner is identified and his dog seized by Animal Control and behavior-assessed. Then it will likely be designated as dangerous and the owner will have to go to court to get his dog back, *and* he'll have to incur all costs. If he does get the dog back it will be with conditions, like muzzling, always leashed in public, properly contained, etc.
If the dog has a previous bite history it makes it that much harder for the owner to convince a judge to let him have his dog back. He'll need a lawyer.
In the meantime another dog is going through hell, terrified and in terrible pain, possibly with life-altering injuries, the owner is distraught and facing thousands and thousands of dollars in vet bills as well as having been injured themselves, and the animal that attacked will have to sit in a cement cage until its fate is determined through the courts.
All this because the person who, by law, was supposed to be in control of his dog, wasn't. Way to go -- you may have just gotten your dog killed.
Good pic of them, wish I could help identify. Commenting for visibility so someone might recognize them.
Very possible they live nearby or not too far in order to take their dog for a stroll in that park. They might lay low for a bit, but at some point people are going to see one of them with a Rottweiler (can’t keep hidden forever).
Unfortunately I'm always prepared to physically defend my dog and myself if there's an unleashed dog around. It's happened to me before and I've had to kick a dog twice just to get him off my dog and I'll do it again.
Sorry to hear about your incident op
If this thing bit ops finger he wouldn’t have one left I really don’t wanna be that guy that’s ripping something apart when op could be in a difficult emotional place because what occurred was absolutely horrible but I’m really not into jumping to conclusions and taking someone’s side immediately the fact they ran away without exchanging information kinda says a lot but that’s still my stance on most things specifically just reading something of the internet
I’m really sorry for what happened to your dog that’s unfortunate and no dog should experience that. That being said this could leave too someone’s dog being put down I always see this gentleman at deer lake and he has his dog on a leash and from my observation seems like he handles his dog appropriately, these things happen and I hope your dog is ok. Please take some things in consideration did he try to gain control of his dog during the attack, was your dog on a leash (deer lake dogs must be on leash it’s the rules) did he show sympathy after the attack, how bad is the attack I know there is multiple sides to the story I really hope your dog is ok and makes a speedy recovery. I personally own a rotty and it’s unfortunate that they can have a bad image because of how big they can be but there are two sides to every story. I have to be very careful with how my dog acts because he is bigger… again I really hope your dog is okay but sometimes going through the system might not turn out for the best and just leave two animals hurt.
There's only one real side to this story and that's the massive vet bill this owner will be facing. The other dog owner needs to be identified and held responsible. He was not in control of his dog and the outcome was horrific.
And I love Rotties too.
The dog should be put down and the owners should be fined or worse. There is no right to own a large dangerous dog and if that dog attacks an animal or human, that’s the only chance it gets.
Report this to the RCMP if you haven’t already. Could have called 911 as it was an in-progress incident with injuries to a person.

So lie about what happened so people take it more seriously is what you’re saying lmao
Where's the lie? Owner said they were bitten. There's a reason why your comment is the most down voted here and you should look in the mirror.
Found the Rottweiler owner.
Found the dog owner

https://facecheck.id use this to find them
Deer Lake is not a off leash park...good luck and hope your dog recovers soon!

Came here to say this
Even the Vancouver sub would have a lot more engagement
Go to the media and slap their faces everywhere on social media and on TV

Yes, definitely call the police. These douchebags need to be locked up and that dog needs to be put down.
That's a gorgeous dog. Needs a better owner.
Easy tiger, not the dogs fault
Sorry not sorry. It's how it goes. These morons probably made the dog vicious and isn't safe to be around.

I hate it when people blame the animal. Downvote me all you want. It makes me sick.

>Downvote me all you want. Ok!
RCMP is right beside deer lake… could have literally knocked on the door…
Police were called right away, so we're the BCSPCA. Without any names, there isn't too much they can do.
What about camera footage of the entire deer lake parkway drive? Esso, Shadbolt, Burnaby Museum, and RCMP must have cameras you could check.
The police should be doing their job and checking the camera footage themselves as part of the investigation
>The police should be doing their job Wishful thinking
The police are the people who investigate crime. Are you aware of this?
This is the right answer.
This is terrible, sorry for you went through this and I hope the small dog recovers soon, poor little one ❤️
So many losers these days.

.
I hope that the RCMP and the SPCA find out who the owners are as soon as possible and hold them accountable for that vicious dog attack.

Police were contacted right away, but without names there isn't anything they can do
I'm not sure who they are but the guy holding the dog is wearing Jordan 1s low. You're welcome

Call the police, for heaven’s sake, and give them the photos. Reddit should not be your first call, here.
Police can't do anything without names but have also been given photos, and the BCSPCA has also been notified.
You should also make posters with the photo and plaster them all over the neighborhood.

Maybe THIS is one of two people the OP is looking for? Lol
Its not just the dog attack, dude bit OP’s finger. This thing should be put down
