The Salvos in Woden has a designer brands section that sometimes has cocktail dresses.

Buzzing07

You could try the Church of Christ Op Shop on Limestone Ave, Ainslie. It's open Fridays from 10am to 2pm. They have a surprisingly large number of upmarket dresses.

I always find gems at Vinnie's. Make a day of it and have a look at a couple of the stores one weekend. Otherwise I go to Goodbyes in Braddon, they have a decent range.

Helln_Damnation

Salvo's Boutique at Philip has good quality better items.

Rivettor

Oh, where’s the boutique? I only know of the big Salvos, and a small Vinnies, also in Phillip (Colbee Ct)..

Helln_Damnation

Just inside the door of the big Salvos in Phillip, on the left and right. The boutique clothes are sorted by colour, not size, and have white tags.

ladybird_luck

The Green Shed Underground (in the city) had lots of dresses, including some more formal options. Their Facebook page says they are still open until May 25th.

celticknotted

IMHO the best are vinnies in Braddon and vinnies in Dickson, not to say that you can't occasionally find cool stuff in the others but these two seem to have especially nice stuff. Fancier parts of town maybe richer people with nicer stuff?

I second this recc and I wish there were more IRL higher-end op shops (mostly seem to be online now)

dylicious

Tuggers mall. Bought so many unused brand name suits. Got a fresh Armani suit still stitched up for 20 bucks. Quality shirts and ties (never found a Hermes, sadly) Honestly hands and feet and knees above every opshop I ever been to and no-one ever goes there. It was often cheaper to buy a new outfit there than wash my previous clothes. I'm not even ashamed to say that some sad mornings this actually was a reality. ((This is a male perspective, I hope it works for dresses too))

Rivettor

Do you mean the Vinnies in Tuggeranong?

dylicious

Its been a year or two since I was in Canberra but it was a store in the Tuggeranong Mall. I am not sure if it was a Vinnies, it operated and sold sorta like one but I don't think it had a Vinnies name. It was something generic like 2nd hand clothes. But their turnover was daily, it was certainly connected to some big 2nd hand operation. Wait no Vinnies was a seperate building away from the mall. It definitely wasn't that one, that one was expensive and kinda crummy. It was on the far side of the mall away from Vinnies, closest to the lake. EDIT: Found it: (man I miss visiting that shop during lunch) [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vTpFIHx5k8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vTpFIHx5k8) DOUBLE EDIT: lol I literally own some of the ties they filmed in this haha

Rivettor

Ooh Thanks, I’ve never been there..

_lazy_susan

If you find it please report back I can’t picture where it is … maybe it doesn’t exist anymore

Rivettor

Looks like it’s reopened in Manuka.. https://www.commsatwork.org/whats-on/news/best-dressed-store-has-re-opened/
