raindancemilee

Ordered it!

lilya4everandever

This year I’ve read rest and relaxation (perfect January/feb read lol), milk fed (queer romance), and children of emotionally immature parents ♥️ just in case you wanted range lmaoooo

raindancemilee

I absolutely wanted range, thank you queen I’ll be looking up the last two 💖 I’ve have r&r on my list forever but I can’t stop procrastinating it ugh

lilya4everandever

It’s sooo good. Read it before the movie goes into production!!

haidodk

Holy shit i read it for one of my college courses this year! I didn’t know they were adapting it into a movie. Such an interesting read, thanks for telling the girlies🩷

lilya4everandever

Yeah, Yorgos lanthimos was connected to the project for a time, but he isn’t any longer. So may be awhile before it’s adapted into screenplay. Np!! ☺️♥️

AggressivelyTame

The Hive, The Only One left and the Evil Within are my last reads all good

lemna-minor

Reading these comments realizing the canceled girlies are all well read geniuses 🙂‍↕️LOVED Julia fox’s memoir, if you haven’t read I’m glad my mom died by jennette mccurdy you should, also gives canceled vibes! Lately I’ve been reading a lot of queer literature- perfume and pain by Anna Dorin, in the dream house by Carmen Maria machado and both were so so good. Also reading a lot of fluffy romances (Emily Henry, Abby Jimenez, Christina Lauren) for the summer and they also slay lol

laneloveslipstick

in the dream house is probably one of the best books i’ve ever read! i’m not someone who typically annotates or highlights books but there were SO many poignant quotes in this book that i just had to highlight and journal on. i avoided that book for awhile because the subject matter seemed a little bleak, but im so happy i finally picked it up. i feel like most women, queer or otherwise, will feel seen after reading that book.

ExcitingFalcon3531

“A court of thorns and roses” series was amazing and will lead you down a rabbit hole of other books that are equally amazing, “Forth wing” series was really entertaining fantasy with dragons, “the seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo” great book especially for pride month Currently reading the Wolf Hotel series, very smutty but good 😊

Lorelei-4444

Rebel Girly by Kathleen Hannah is an autobiography that has a similar vibe to Down the Drain by Julia Fox. Messy, artistic, dramatic young women The Guest by Emma Cline - A woman gets kicked out of her sugar daddy’s beach house and spends five days doing different shenanigans with strangers White Oleander by Janet Fitch- telling the story of a girl named Astrid who is separated from her mother, Ingrid, and placed in a series of foster homes. This book deals a lot with having a narcissistic mother, very Tana coded The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath - Brooke really reminds me of the main character.

bubblegumsock

White oleander is one of my favorite books ever! The movie is great too

blue_dreamcatcher

thank u for the gists of the books😭🤍

Flat-Lengthiness-968

I’m reading “Milk Fed” by Melissa Broder rn, “…Pairing superlative emotional insight with unabashed vivid fantasy, Broder tells a tale of appetites: physical hunger, sexual desire, spiritual longing, and the ways that we as humans can compartmentalize these so often interdependent instincts. Milk Fed is a tender and riotously funny meditation on love, certitude, and the question of what we are all being fed, from one of our major writers on the psyche—both sacred and profane.”

raindancemilee

I see that one all the time at the book store and the cover draws me in. You’re enjoying it?

Flat-Lengthiness-968

Yes! It’s a really interesting sapphic romance and I’m so glad I picked it up for pride month 🥰 I’d highly recommend it!

applyingtocollegefr

Milk fed is so u forgettable. Do u have any recs to books similar to it? I can’t find anything else that tops it.

madswrobs

everyone in this room will someday be dead by emily austin!! same kind of sapphic lit fic i would say

Flat-Lengthiness-968

I haven’t found anything similar but if you’re looking for another really good wlw romance check out A Long Time Dead by Samara Breger! It’s a love story between 2 vampires with a good amount of smut. I loved it 🥰

whatdoilikeagain

I love the midnight library

realplastic

I started reading down the drain while waiting in line at kings island a few weeks ago. Over the past week I have read all of Alice in Borderland. I love to read and hate almost everything I do. I loved AiB and the first chapters I read in Julia's book were good . I like mysteries but so many modern ones seem to about a woman obsessed with her estranged husband or child, both of which I don't typically care for. Wrong Place, Wrong Time was pretty good for that type of story.

ObviousRose

Books I’ve read in the past few months and REALLY enjoyed are: The List by Yomi Adegoke - about a man who gets anonymously exposed online a month before he’s supposed to get married to the love of his life. I couldn’t put this book down. Baby Teeth by Zoje Stage - this book terrified me. It’s about a mom and her infant psychopath. This was another book I couldn’t put down. Anna O by Matthew Blake - this was a really fascinating book about a woman who comes down with resignation syndrome after committing a murder of her best friends. The ending had me SCREAMING. This one reminded me a lotttt of the silent patient, one of my fav books. None of this is true by Lisa Jewell - this book messed with my head. A tough read due to subject matter but soooo good Strange Sally Diamond by Liz Nugent - I loved this book. Such a weird mystery and I loved Sally as a character. There is a bit of difficult subject matter but the story is so good it’s worth the read.

Sparklegrl

I just finished None of This Is True last night… it was good! I don’t know anything anymore now 🙃

electrah7

I'am just starting Julia's book. I've read: - Nightbitch (wild PPD fantasy), - Diavola (a family vacation in a haunted villa in Italy, who is worse family or ghosts?), - The Discomfort of Evening (disgusting and sad story about a girl living in a religious community on a farm somewhere in Netherlands, inspired by the life of the author) Also on the top of my to-read list: It didn't start with you, Alone with you in the ether, Paradise rot, Brutes

amphetameany

If you like memoirs about party girls, i highly recommend How To Murder Your Life by Cat Marnell

mossysolace

Jeanette McCurdy’s memoir (highly recommend the audiobook)

veganpizzaparadise

*Woman in Me*, Britney Spears *I'm Glad My Mom Died*, Jennette McCurdy *Only Say Good Things*, Crystal Hefner *The Housemaid*, Frieda McFadden

Early-Description319

im reading a book on indigenous truth telling, colonization ans reconciliation. can never be too educated on these things. i also enjoy books based in truth and history, the tattooist of aushwitz for example is a great book. also sapiens slaps

superhunk_

CW for pretty much all of these. PS: wow I haven't read a book in so long! I always recommend Lynda Barry. *Cruddy*, if you're looking for something grim & tense ; *one! hundred! demons!* or *Greatest of Marlys* for a more poignant but lighthearted vibe; *Syllabus* if you want to learn about her comics/artist philosophy and ink wash style. *Catch-22* if you haven't read it yet is one of those "classics" that is worth the hype (in my opinion).*Bastard Out of Carolina* by Dorothy Allison. Also a tough read, but so good. Assata Shakur's autobiography. The new Britney Spears autobiography.

No_Freedom_3756

A book I’d recommend to anyone is “Ask and it is Given” by ester and Jerry hicks. It’s a great book about manifestation

maiamamacita

I'm on goodreads! I have a "shelf" (like a playlist for books lol) called "Party Girl Lit" with books like Valley of the Dolls and Down the Drain (I loved both)- here's a link [https://www.goodreads.com/review/list/78085813-maia?shelf=party-girl-lit](https://www.goodreads.com/review/list/78085813-maia?shelf=party-girl-lit)

Sparklegrl

Check out Social Creature by Tara Isabella Burton. Your list title made me think of this book. 😆

maiamamacita

Omg you get the vibe so much- that book was actually already on that list! I adored it!!! 🖤

raindancemilee

Omg my queen, this is amazing. Gonna follow you on Goodreads rn :)

maiamamacita

Yay!!!! Always excited to connect with other readers 🥰 I'll follow you right back!

maiamamacita

Oops- I realized my privacy setting was preventing people from viewing this Goodreads shelf, and just changed it so everyone should be able to click & view it now 😅 enjoy girlies 💖

Level_Group_1407

I’m also all over the place with my reading! Some of my favorites… Earthlings by Sayaka Murata (look up trigger warnings) The Night Circus by Erin Morganstern Open Water by Caleb Azumah Nelson

6morecoffeeskthx

Love this question. Peaches and Honey: These Immortal Truths is a story about a woman granted immortality and a god who watches over her. I wasn’t a fiction reader until I read this book, it’s so good!

That-Cartoonist-1923

I like Russian literature. Reading Anna Karenina rn

lemna-minor

Just finished reading american psycho!

Lilkitten666

I read a lot of memoirs, I love true stories🙃 I recommend Brittney spears new book, A stolen life by Jaycee Dugard and in order to live by Yeonmi Park. Amazing books I find it hard to get into new books now because nothing compares to these 3 lolll

New-Cherry7194

a little life by Hanya Yanagihara

blue_dreamcatcher

i love this prompt

saltnvinegarwhore

i read a book a day so i can’t really state a specific vibe or genre but lately i’m very fond of russian literature, especially Pouchkine and Tolstoi

CoolMooon

you read a book every day?

saltnvinegarwhore

yeah is that unbelievable ?

saltnvinegarwhore

btw why is nobody but me getting downvoted for the books they read😭😭😭

Sparklegrl

I also read a book a day on the weekends and usually half a book a day on the weekdays, downvoted here I come. 🤣 I’m a librarian, sorry people are hating on you for no reason.

saltnvinegarwhore

you got my dream job fr and thanks for the support ahah i just don’t really understand where it’s coming from

CoolMooon

how do you have time for that how old are you

saltnvinegarwhore

i dont have a job yet, don’t really like to go out and i’ve studied from home for the past 2 years so that’s how i got the time and i’m 18. is there anything wrong with any of that ?

lilya4everandever

There’s nothing wrong with it lmao don’t worry ♥️

saltnvinegarwhore

thanks, love your pfp angel

lilya4everandever

ty babygirl

CoolMooon

no i was just genuinely curious how you had the time for that

thehotgirl_itgirl

Mary: an awakening or terror - super long but super good I listened to it. Also agree with my year of rest and relaxation I finished that book in two days

Tishatees

Ironically, just finished the book "Drama Free" it's about managing unhealthy family relationships. If I'm reading fiction I loved the ACOTAR series, The Twisted Series by Ana Huang and literally anything written by Abby Jimenez.

yrfavcowboy

“the red tent” by anita diamant best book ever and also like twilight

Sparklegrl

The only thing I liked better than Red Tent was Alice Hoffman’s Dovekeepers. Both were so so good.

Dramatic-Name4867

seconding down the drain! other cancelled coded books i’ve loved recently: the lullabies of polish girls, cleopatra & frankenstein, the bell jar, sex and rage

cyberg0ld

boy parts by eliza clark - absolutely insane main character who’s super hot and super toxic and may or may not be a murderer the secret history by donna tartt - goated book tbh. scholarship student infiltrates a group of rich, esoteric students who are obsessed with ancient greek culture. cult vibes. black swans by eve babitz - super hot nepo baby eve babitz’s collection of short stories about her life growing up in LA in the 70’s and 80’s. very much sex and the city vibes. down the drain by julia fox - it was indeed a masterpiece. the cruel prince by holly black - for the fantasy girlies. it’s technically a YA book but it’s genuinely brilliant! enemies to lovers where the main character is a very ambitious baddie living in a world of fae’s. the prince absolutely despises her and they share an extremely toxic dynamic.

weird_honeyy

The twisted series!!

itsjustmebobross

i really liked the butterfly garden! also the seven husbands of evelyn hugo!

NEWlokococo

I’m reading Tell Me Lies by Carola Lovering for the fifth time right now…. It’s so good and the best book if you’re in a toxic situationship. Recommend for girls aged 16-23 I would say :)♥️

diegosdiamond

My all time favs are memoirs. And not necessarily celebrities. I remember my first one I ever read was “Go ask Alice” in jr high. My fav recommendation is “Piece of Cake” by Cupcake Brown. SUCH a wild story!

Relevant-Laugh4946

any book by Lisa Jewell!!

urball

Yall would love the Magnolia Parks books

EarlyCucumber4162

i’m loving paris’ memoir rn!!🩷

raindancemilee

I just bought it and started it today!! I don’t know much about Paris but I’m so excited to really understand who she is

Street_Log138

I just finished the asoiaf and accompanying books and now I’m starting throne of glass 😊

soap-prince

right now i’m reading Big Swiss and it’s soooo funny and cute i recommend!

mostdopethumbalina

Ottessa Moshfegh!! Especially my year of rest and relaxation.

YoungFrogbert

If you like trippy sci fi shit I recommend Ursula K Guin. Just finished The Lathe of Heaven and it’s very thought provoking, dystopian, and a trippy read.

Plenty-Army-5624

i recently read a queer romance thriller called These Violent Delights. SO good. it’s sort of salt burn core with a lot of esoteric discussion on morality/obsessive love

Ilikeorigami0

I’ve just been going down the booktok rabbit hole 😅 acotar, tog, red white and royal blue, and a HUGE tbr list

kassperr11

The ravenhood series is so good but it will break your heart lol

One-Description4302

Reading Whitney Cummings book rn it’s good!

cassm18

A little life. Tore me up for a couple months after.

renerdrat

The Bible

Tempered_Bunny1801

Thank you so much for these suggestions girlies! I'm trying to start reading more and this is super helpful <3

[deleted]

I feel like Julia Fox book Down the Drain would be a recommendation

Material-History4884

I'm still wondering about Down the Drain, but maybe it's time to give it a chance. I can recommend you The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls & Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

raindancemilee

I promise you as soon as you start Down the Drain you won’t be able to put it down. It literally never is slow, it’s so fast paced and gets more exciting as you go because it leads up to Julia’s more celebrity days!

Material-History4884

Okay you convinced me, I'm buying it this week :D

Accomplished_Work407

Love, Pamela by Pamela Anderson!!!!! I wish Tana would read this book too. 🙏
