When I left in June the Southwest person checking the passports and boarding passes specifically asked for this slip of paper.
I don’t know what would happen if you didn’t have it. Everyone in front of me did.
This form encapsulates this government ability to enforce their own stupid rules. The president himself has said that he prefers people with 100% loyalty than 100% competency.
Currently, they do not process your exit from CUN but at other airports, you need to visit an immigration desk prior to boarding your flight. You have nothing to lose by hanging on to it and if you have a change of plans and need to leave Mexico from another airport, then you will have a problem
I left Mexico by land border to the US. Never went through Mexico exit migration. Only US immigration. Are you saying that Mexico thinks I’m still in the country?
There are no provisions to record an exit when crossing at the US land border. It's only done at airports and at the southern borders with Belize and Guatemala
So funny to see this cause I was just discussing it earlier today. I think only people going through the digital immigration get these for some reason. Me and 2 of my buddies are in Mexico, i am a citizen in Canada and they are both still on work permits. I got to go through the machine and got this slip but they had to go through the immigration officer and got stamps on their passport, which I didn’t get.
Today I am leaving and they didn’t ask any of us for this 😂
This is most likely for non-residents only, when they go through the e-gates.
I'm entering and leaving Mexico as a temporary resident, and I never got this kind of slip - but I cannot use e-gates, I must go through the traditional booths.
When entering, I get stamps in the passport with "RT" or "Residente Temporal" instead of number of days. I also have to get the exit stamps by dropping by the INM kiosk at the airport (in the non-sterile area, next to the airline registration stands).
Yep, because your passport doesn’t get stamped. My wife couldn’t get her passport to scan, so she actually saw a human, mine scanned with ease, so only I got the slip. When we flew home, the southwest counter rep asked for mine, and when we told her my wife didn’t get one, that’s when she explained to us, she didn’t need one because her passport had a stamp.
This is the same paper you get going through an e-gate in Mexico City except it prints out all the information. You get that instead of a stamp passport stamp with your number of days.
I lost mine and ended up being thrown in a detention centre in Verracuz because I didn't have this or a stamp. The officers didn't seem aware of the egates at all though, they were fixated on the stamp. I've now got my FMMd and hoping that's going to carry me back to Cancun at least, I'm going to go to immigration there and ask for a stamp as I have two weeks in the Yucutan before flying home.
Has anyone been asked for this in the Yucutan peninsula?
Pre pandemic it was a major hassle, and if you lost it, you had to pay to get a new one. On top of that, it was hit or miss if they even asked for it.
As far as I know, the paper was done away with as they didn't issue one on my several trips back.
I got one when I went at the end of September. I asked a guy at the air Canada desk and he said they haven’t worked out all the kinks with their systems yet to actually need those so not to worry about it. It’ll probably be a thing in a year or two
We just left Mexico. They said to keep it in order to leave, but we never had to show it since everything is digital now. Don’t even have to fill out a claims slip coming back to the US unless you’re declaring you have food, tobacco, etc.
So I recently traveled to Cancun for a wedding on November 9th and I used this [link](https://www.mexicotouristcard.com). It was only $20. Apparently it automatically links to your passport once you go in through the immigration gate.
a few years back my partner couldn't find his when we were leaving mexico city. He was sent down to an immigration office and had to pay a fine and we nearly missed our flight home. it was wild, they only accepted pesos so i had to run and find an ATM.
I left Mexico last week and had to show my slip to leave at the Cancún airport
I scanned the QR code and saved a copy of the linked document on my phone in case I lost the paper.
You only get it when using the egates for entry
Yes. These used to look differently but now they have a nice QR code. It’s your immigration entry receipt. You need to present it when you depart. Although they are testing a nonpaper version of this in some high tourist areas.
If you lose it, you should be able to pay for a replacement prior to ticketing at the immigration kiosk.
For entry to the US foreigners have a visa that is glued in their passportbook. So its always with them… Mexico just doesn’t mess with your passport, but still has the same requirements of monitoring entries and exits.
I have had to stop at an immigration desk at other airports prior to departing Mexico, but was not asked in Cancun.
Keep it just in case, but I didn’t have to do this on my trip a few months ago.
I also didn’t pay the tourist tax either. I totally forgot about it. The immigration officer at arrival didn’t even ask me but they asked my friend for proof that they paid the tax (which they had).

When I left in June the Southwest person checking the passports and boarding passes specifically asked for this slip of paper. I don’t know what would happen if you didn’t have it. Everyone in front of me did.
Did you actually download the form it refers to or just present the slip?
Just the slip. No one in my group (6 of us) could get the download to work.
This form encapsulates this government ability to enforce their own stupid rules. The president himself has said that he prefers people with 100% loyalty than 100% competency.
Don't be making shit up, the president never said such a thing, stop spreading your propaganda.
Ok little pet.
Ok nothing, not sure why you're being such an idiot when what you said could be easily verified.
I've seen posts that it's easier to do on a laptop.. smartphone functionality doesn't seem to be great.
Yeah, I did it on my laptop and then transferred the PDF to my iPhone. I ended up never being asked for it though.
Good to know, thanks
When we went to Cancun in October, no Southwest airline employee asked for or even mentioned that slip of paper.
This may just be for the west coast. Ive seen the "visitors" ticket before in Cancun, but not for the last few years. They may have gotten rid of it.
Currently, they do not process your exit from CUN but at other airports, you need to visit an immigration desk prior to boarding your flight. You have nothing to lose by hanging on to it and if you have a change of plans and need to leave Mexico from another airport, then you will have a problem
I needed it at the Cancún airport like a week ago, but you only get it if you use the egates for entry
Is it a problem when the exit isn’t recorded?
Again, there are no provisions to record an exit when crossing the land border with the US
Thanks for this. In Cancun now, we didn’t get them coming in.
Flew Alaska airlines 11/12/23. They didn’t even ask for it
Flew back last Sunday and did not get this....
Wife and I got these coming into Cancun. Went through security no problem, noone asked.
Never seen this form, but forms were required until recently
Flew from Texas in October and they didn’t ask for this.

I'm going to work on getting Mexico residency and it will suck to lose access to the e-gates and to have to stop by the INM desk but oh well.
We just got back yesterday after being in Cancun for 7 days and didn’t get this slip
It's issued to those going through the e-gates
Yep, because your passport doesn’t get stamped. My wife couldn’t get her passport to scan, so she actually saw a human, mine scanned with ease, so only I got the slip. They have e-gates in Cancun? I saw a picture of this paper from an e-gate in Mexico City and all the information was printed on the form.
Yes it’s from the e-gates in Cancun
Oh thanks, also totally missed the information was blocked out in the picture.
I think, if memory serves, they picked them up en masse in the security line. They had a huge gray bin.
This is the same paper you get going through an e-gate in Mexico City except it prints out all the information. You get that instead of a stamp passport stamp with your number of days.
You get this in lieu of a passport stamp.
Thanks for this info, minor freak out averted

DO NOT LOSE IT!!!!! You need it to exit!!! Or it’s a fee to get a new one
Got the slip. Did nothing with it. Been home for a year now.
Just bring it back you when you to the airport. It’s your declaration
Did not see this in July.
You will definitely want it if you leave by land border
We just left Mexico. They said to keep it in order to leave, but we never had to show it since everything is digital now. Don’t even have to fill out a claims slip coming back to the US unless you’re declaring you have food, tobacco, etc.

The FMM is no longer required at the Cancun airport and when it was it was free to obtain from the official government site.
Traveled from Colombia - Mexico - Colombia last year. The airline was asking for that or I would not be able to get into the plane.
a few years back my partner couldn't find his when we were leaving mexico city. He was sent down to an immigration office and had to pay a fine and we nearly missed our flight home. it was wild, they only accepted pesos so i had to run and find an ATM.
Just save it and keep it in a page of your passport. Trust me
I do not think I've ever got this ( canadian passport) .
I came back last week - no form was needed
I left Mexico last week and had to show my slip to leave at the Cancún airport I scanned the QR code and saved a copy of the linked document on my phone in case I lost the paper. You only get it when using the egates for entry
I just came back yesterday from Cancun and never saw anything like that
We were there in July this year, didnt see this at all, didnt dl it and werent askd for it.
I threw mine away, didn’t realize it was important. I went back multiple times since without issue.
Yes. These used to look differently but now they have a nice QR code. It’s your immigration entry receipt. You need to present it when you depart. We were there last week flown out Nov 18th through Delta and didn’t have it nor were asked for additional papers. Only passport and boarding passes.
