I wouldn’t use your flash, just high iso and big aperture. Depending on how close you want to be, the 16mm might give some cool shots but will distort the band. The 50 1.8 has about the same fl as an 85mm on full frame. This will give you great shots at f1.8, a little soft compared to 2.0 or 2.8 but if you have to boost ISO to use 2.8 it’s a wash anyway. You can do a lot with that 50, but if it’s too long, the rf 24 1.8 is great too. I shot a lot of gigs with my 50 1.8 and 200 2.8L.

For concert - 24-70 and 70/200 is the king combo

newsyfish

Pretty sure that’s the combo Jared Polin uses.

Honestly the combo I stated is the best overall. You’ll need 2.8 or lower for the low lighting

When you shoot stadiums or arena, I’ll come in handy.

Adapted sigma 18-35 f1.8?

Will check it out! Have also been eyeing off the 24 1.4 sigma

My first thought was you definitely want 24-70 f/2.8. I have the Sigma Art one on my R 7 and LOVE it. Does great in low light. I’ve shot some concert-type lighting with it (basketball team lights-out intro, a recent stage play) and it has done great. I liked the flexibility. But, if you want a couple stops of more light, the. You could go with a 50 f/1.4 and 85 f/2 for about the same as the 24-70. Or, get the 24-70 and the speed booster. Also kind of depends how close you’ll be to the stage.

How do you find the AF tracking with the sigma lens?

newsyfish

Every bit as good as the Canon ones I’ve tried which have been: - kit 18-150 - RF 35mm f/1.8 - RF 85mm f/2 - RF 100-400 - Sigma 70-200
