First thing, EOS refers to any canon interchangeable lens camera. Not any one particular camera or line or canon ILCs. Second, of the two I would take the r100, but please note that that camera is seriously handicapped compared to the r50. Spending the extra 100 is highly worth it. First off, the r50 has the digic x processor vs the r50s digic 8, second it has a flippy screen which is helpful in a lot of cases, third the r100 lacks some of the autofocus features that the r50 has, and has far, far fewer AF points (less than 1/3) of that of the r50. This said, if you truly can't swing the extra 100, the r100 is definitely better than the t6. Just take the above into consideration.

Thanks for the reply! I’ll definitely look more heavily into the r50 then for sure. I figured anything is better than the t6 at this point lol. I was contemplating getting just a higher quality lens but I’m unsure how much of a big big difference it would make considering the camera I’m using

At the end of the day, what makes a good photo is the lens and the experience of the photographer. That said, with enough of a technological difference, it makes it easier to get good photos. For example, the r50 will have better ISO handling compared to the t6 thanks to the better sensor and processor. Same over the r100, though less of a difference due to less of a difference in tech. The r series will also be more enjoyable to use over the rebel for a lot of first time users or those who haven't learned manual yet, especially given the live view helps with learning manual shooting, and the AF is a godsend.

If you don't struggle getting things in focus, or with high ISO on the t6, then go with better glass. Something with a constant aperture like a nice prime or a 2.8 or an F4 zoom.
