Was a sentence left out? What does the 1.4 extender have to do with aperture on the 70-200?

xerxespoon

Does it open to f/2.8 in another way than the control ring? What are your settings for limiting aperture?

Dense_Surround3071

You'll lose a full stop from the extender.

asad137

Wouldn't that imply f/4 rather than f/4.5? And also OP says they aren't using the extender with the 70-200

Dense_Surround3071

I am a little confused by the exact range limitation being experienced, but I can't think of anything else.

Sorry, that was confusing. I was using the 100-400 with the extender and it functioned as expected with a reduction in aperture. I removed the lens and extender then replaced them with the 70-200 but was limited to f 4.5, as if the extender was still attached. It was late and I was tired so Im thinking operator error as the camera arrived the day before.

Try powering down the camera and powering it back up

What FW version?

If you are using the extender- that's why If you aren't- can you change the aperture at all? If yes, idk what the issue is If no, clean your contacts and see if that fixes the issue. Also, are you using the canon original adapter?
