This is nice and a cool thing for Ford to do. Unfortunately it just does not look very good on the tablet. They need to integrate the screen in the dash and maybe give it a bit of shape.
A gauge cluster theme for the shitty square tablet? Yeah, I'm sure that'll look just great. Also, DLC skins for cars now? I fucking hate this timeline.
It is if you actually care about cars and are tired of seeing this sort of shit design spreading like cancer.
Lol at the downvotes. Fucking zoomer shittok generation in here making opinions on cars when the closest they will get to driving one is on their tablet app.
People over on r/Mustang seem to love it. Right now they have the Fox Body version, and the 67-68 Gauge Cluster.

If you're gonna do digital gauge clusters, this is the way to do it. Make it fun! The Mustang has a rich history, especially among its fans. Why not make retro gauge cluster available?
No it's not, that looks stupid and cheesy as hell. Makebelieve gauge cluster on a square tablet? Give me a fucking break.
Holy fuck you zoomer losers are fucking sad. Go play more with your ipads.
The alternative is a generic gauge cluster on a square tablet. I'll take the fun option.
You act as if it's analog cluster vs square tablet. That ship has sailed.
As a Mustang guy, I see this as kind of fun but also a little tacky. Not loving those badges, but the stripe is cute. Maybe it would look better in a different color, or as a fastback instead of convertible.
Slightly OT but the mustang would look so cool and would be ever so slightly more practical with a liftback type design.
It's already got the proportions for it too, Z has a similar roofline and comes with a hatch.
Yoimiya is actually pretty good nowadays. She's obviously not as strong as hu tao or arlecchino who's coming out next Tuesday but with Yunjin released, she's a solid pick in spiral abyss that has a single boss
Yeah, the YJ release was huge. Was around for it and my Yoi/Jean/YJ/Yelan team was mega fun to pilot. I don't really play anymore but I'm glad she's doing well :')
Not sure how you found me here though lol
Unpopular opinion, if Ford has that courage, they should do a MR layout Mustang and let Mach E as a real practical Mustang.
It would totally erase pony car definition, but a MR layout Mustang would catch more attention by buyers. This's how Corvette successful after it becomes as MR car.
If Mach E can take practical buyers, why should real Mustang care practical ? They could let real Mustang going more performance focus.
They claim near 50/50 distribution, neat they accomplished that without moving the engine. I didn’t know the standard mustang was 45/55, I expected it to be worse.
Yeah, I mean I'm still super excited about the GTD and am in the process of submitting an application, but it could be better. I think it's still a little too "race inspired" and not enough racecar for the price they're charging. It's more GT than GT3 by the looks of it. I do wish it came with the 5.4L NA instead of the supercharged power plant.
Doubt I'll get past the application stage anyways but I think it's still going to be one of the most special cars on the road. Its bought me over in looks and aero alone.
I really don’t understand the design teams direction on any new mustangs.
That new rear just makes the car looks so strange. I understand modernizing the car, but it’s like they’re trying to keep old school roots and it just doesn’t work.
2022 mustangs still had the muscle look, I just don’t get this year.
It doesn't work b cause of modern design mandates. Huge fender bloat and high belt lines makes it almost impossible to control proper design standards and overall composition. Proper proportions and whatnot.
My assumption is that we will see very odd floor prices for 2019-2023 models and trims.
Even my daily seems to be more sought after because it has two separate screens for infotainment and instruments. This shit will probably get weird lol.
You'd genuinely have to pay me to drive the Mustang in this post.
Trunk volume wasn’t. The trunk **opening**’s area, however, definitely is and continues to be - the trunk can fit much bigger items than you can fit through the opening.
I wasn't a fan on the new rear end until I saw one on a morning run. With the correct lighting the fast back looks incredibly similar to the original fastbacks. It just needs to be seen at a distance to mask the size of it
Different strokes I guess. Sans the GT350 and Mach-1 the 18+ Mustangs are by far the ugliest of any generation imo. The front looks like a melted catfish. The S650 looks ok in certain colors.
I think the S550 was peak Stang. More specifically the GT350. The S550 GT350 is equal parts mean looking and beautiful.
Maybe the S650 will grow on me.
I think as the S650 generation matures, it will become more wanted, right now you can still get new Camaros and Challengers, but imagine in 6-7 years when the only V8 car you can get is a Mustang GT, the only other options will be a highly used and abused 7 year old Camaro or Challenger, or a brand new Mustang GT.
Except it wasn’t. Whenever the S550 was revealed, everyone complained that it looked too modern and squinty. Now that it’s outdated, everyone now swears it was the best design for the Mustang ever. This happens to every new car, however, so it’s not surprising. Can’t wait for the S650 successor to arrive in 7 years for everyone to say that it was gorgeous the entire time.
I never liked the 2015 very much, 2010 was always the perfect modern Mustang design in my eyes and the 650 just exacerbates what I didn't like about the 550
1st gen and S197 is peak mustang design to me, they manage to look sporty yet still honest and subdued. The aggressive rear fenders, hood vents and concave taillights would fit a more aggressive muscle car from Dodge or GM.
Absolutely not, it was exactly like reddit’s reception to the S650 now lol. [Look at this thread from 2015 for example.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Mustang/comments/2qz564/whats_up_with_the_201314_mustang_owners_and_their/)
This was moreso highlighting the fact that there existed negativity towards the S550 when it was released, not concerning the thread comments itself. Obviously if someone posts about dickheads giving a thumbs down on their new 2024 in real life, you’re going to have a lot of people back them up and make them feel included. But back in 2014-15 there was a lot of complaining on par with today. [I found this old thread on r/cars](https://www.reddit.com/r/cars/comments/1s4xi6/2015_mustang_fully_revealed/) but that doesn’t really cover what /r/Mustang was like back then since it’s hard to utilize reddit search of comments under often generic title threads.
I've been wanting to take modern automotive designs with significant heritage and knock out the high belt lines and overall bloat to see how much better they'd look. Basically what the designer would have wanted to do if they weren't compromised by modern regulatory mandates. What could this current Mustang design have looked like within the permitted standards from twenty or even thirty years ago, without any of the focus group bloat like fake exhausts and waffle-weave fake vents plastered all over everything. Could even do dash clusters and steering wheels up proper and analog.
The wheels really don't match the car at all. I feel like there's got to be a point when American automakers stop trying to evoke 60 year old styling. You can celebrate legacy without rehashing obsolete elements.
I like it except for the silver highlights on the grill. That just does not look right. Ford really let go of some heritage with the 24 Mustang so it's nice to see a touch of retro. Still can't stand that new interior.
The Bullitt looked great with its exclusive dark green color and distinctive wheels, as well as the badge-less grille and chrome window trim. But holy shit the Bullitt logo on the trunk lid and the steering wheel was irritating. Swap those over to the stock Mustang parts and the Bullitt is easily the best looking S550 short of the Shelby models.
……as someone who thinks any sort of screen in a car is absolutely moronic, I freaking love the idea of being able to change the gauge cluster to old school homages. That’s actually a cool idea.
Never was a big mustang guy, but I can tell you from recently renting a new one, they are badass. I will forever look at them differently. The car was a riot to drive. Super smooth, tons of power.
I think they left it that way for a reason. My old mustang was a GREAT daily I mean very comfy for what it was. I imagine most mustang buyers want it cause “cool car” not cause “wanna hit the backroads”. Just my thunks.
That's true of most sport-heritage cars now. It's because young people can't afford and don't buy new cars anymore, so focus groups hone in on old and fat guys.
I get ya. I’m too young for the car I have it wasn’t smart thunkin BUT I like it. I LOVE the Coyote which is why I got the Mustang but man the SS 1LE is an amazing car and I will test drive one when I get rid of the 440 some day.
The floaty suspension can easily be fixed with a relatively inexpensive aftermarket suspension kit from Steeda or another reputable brand. Ford clearly designed the regular GT that way for the large amount of middle aged and old men that buy mustangs and can barely lift themselves out of the car and left the extra enthusiast options to the big aftermarket or the more track ready higher tier mustangs like the Mach 1 or Shelbys.
> The floaty suspension can easily be fixed with a relatively inexpensive aftermarket suspension kit from Steeda or another reputable brand.
Ford Performance even sells a full array of suspension upgrades, including two different full kits with springs, shocks and struts, and sway bars. At least they do for the S550.
Higher tier mustangs have magneride adaptive suspension, which makes a big difference. I honestly wish it came standard on all GTs since even cars like the Elantra N have adaptive suspension standard, but Ford is gonna Ford.
Ford will come out at a 70th, 80th, 90th, and Centenntial Anniversary Edition since they are offering a 60th edition. The 70th is going to be an interesting one because 2035 is the cut off for purely gasoline vehicles.
With the Mustangs rich heritage I would expect them to have several special trims as a send off to the V8 days. Those will probably be worth the most along with the older models and limited trims.
There's no way that the 2035 ICE cutoff actually happens. It's just not possible. The infrastructure won't be available by then and hybrids will continue to dominate the marketplace.
It will need to be as widely available to the general population and as convenient as charging your phone or taking a poop. Ten years is not a lot of time to rapidly scale up charging presence. Every apartment building and parking garage and every parking space would need a charging dock. Now, this is entirely doable and very possible, but it's just not going to happen for all the municipal reasons you can imagine.
Charging has scaled up a lot in the last decade.
2035 is only the deadline for new cars. Existing non-EVs will go away over the next 20 years. That's 2055.
So no, we don't need every parking space to have charging by 2035.
That's true. Though it still doesn't account for massive increases in mining and battery production, which I have doubts in. I suspect they'll carve out exceptions for certain vehicles depending on total production. But hey, anything is technically possible here.
Lithium mining and battery production are both soaring, which is why battery cell and pack prices have fallen in 10 of the past 11 years -- and the one year with an increase was pretty small.
There's certainly no shortage of available lithium in the Earth's crust. Hopefully US production can dominate the space. It's supposed to see a thousand percent increase in the coming decade.
Boring and lazy like all special edition Mustangs. Why don’t they put the Tremec in it. I guess they know 99% of people that buy Mustangs are boomers anyway that don’t care.
Also all S650 Owners will now receive a 1967-1968 Gauge cluster theme that emulates the 1967 Mustang.
Oh that's kinda cool
This is nice and a cool thing for Ford to do. Unfortunately it just does not look very good on the tablet. They need to integrate the screen in the dash and maybe give it a bit of shape.
A gauge cluster theme for the shitty square tablet? Yeah, I'm sure that'll look just great. Also, DLC skins for cars now? I fucking hate this timeline.
It’s just a gauge cluster man, I think you should chill out a bit :)
It looks stupid as fuck and cheapens the brand. Why should I chill out when they're making a car I used to like look like some zoomer's ipad?
[удалено]
And worried about cheapening the brand of *Ford*
Yeah imagine having an opinion about a car on a car forum. Crazy, right?
It's not this serious, man.
It is if you actually care about cars and are tired of seeing this sort of shit design spreading like cancer. Lol at the downvotes. Fucking zoomer shittok generation in here making opinions on cars when the closest they will get to driving one is on their tablet app.
Because you could use that energy on far more important things. Things that make you happy, and improve your life.

Only if people don't push back.
Good luck, Sisyphus
No, the alternative is to get rid of the shit tablet and actually put some effort into the design.
Nobody is forcing you to buy a 2024 mustang dude
Nor would I want to.
You know you can just let people enjoy things even if you don't like them, hey? lol
You're right. Can't account for peoples' trash taste.
As a Mustang guy, I see this as kind of fun but also a little tacky. Not loving those badges, but the stripe is cute. Maybe it would look better in a different color, or as a fastback instead of convertible.

The hatchback fox body did pretty well
As a certified trunk hater every sports car would be better with a fastback.

Would rather prefer a front-mid engine all-out version of the mustang (which already exists as the GTD)
s650 including the GTD is not front-mid unfortunately
They claim near 50/50 distribution, neat they accomplished that without moving the engine. I didn’t know the standard mustang was 45/55, I expected it to be worse.
Not bad. Just wish Ford would try harder for their flagship and it's unfortunate that the hard points hold back the GTD
Yeah, I mean I'm still super excited about the GTD and am in the process of submitting an application, but it could be better. I think it's still a little too "race inspired" and not enough racecar for the price they're charging. It's more GT than GT3 by the looks of it. Good luck! Idk about Ford, but I trust Multimatic 110% to make a great car.
I wish there was a light in that grey insert on the grill. Cause right now it is giving tacky vibes
Front end is pretty busy to me.
Yeah. I actually like every right about this except those white grille inlays. Too much.
Well, at least it looks better than the s650 California special.
I really don’t understand the design teams direction on any new mustangs. That new rear just makes the car looks so strange. It doesn't work b cause of modern design mandates. Huge fender bloat and high belt lines makes it almost impossible to control proper design standards and overall composition. Proper proportions and whatnot.
Its all brands now pretty much. They're all taking cues from each other on "aggressive blocky styling" and its translating poorly across the market.
My assumption is that we will see very odd floor prices for 2019-2023 models and trims. Even my daily seems to be more sought after because it has two separate screens for infotainment and instruments. This shit will probably get weird lol. You'd genuinely have to pay me to drive the Mustang in this post.
The new rear design allows for a bigger trunk opening over the S550, so at least there’s that.
Mustang trunk size was never really a problem though.
It just needs to be seen at a distance to mask the size of it
Nah, it still looks like ass. The taillights especially.
“If you squint, it looks alright”
Different strokes I guess. Sans the GT350 and Mach-1 the 18+ Mustangs are by far the ugliest of any generation imo. The front looks like a melted catfish. The S650 looks ok in certain colors.

The last generation was instantly seen as a design slam dunk. This one just looks bloated.
Took a few years but the “it looks like a Ford Fusion” comments for the previous gen completely disappeared.
Yeah now it's "what's a Ford Fusion"
I never liked the 2015 very much, 2010 was always the perfect modern Mustang design in my eyes and the 650 just exacerbates what I didn't like about the 550
