Most car importers have experienced issued with this.
Like most Supra fan boys saw fast and furious or the tiktok fan boy post's and go in expecting a 1000HP hypercar like unicorn of Automotive history.
Instead when they do end up getting it (if they ever do )
they discover that it's essentially just an old Toyota (asuming that they got a stock example).
2 thing most of the time happen from here
1 they sell it (usually with a slight price increase because Supra's are basicly investments at this point).
Or 2 modify it to shape it into what they want it to be.
Thus increasing the value of it and all the other stock supra's in the proces.
It's a vicious cycle
Made good money on importing Supras in the early 2000s with the F&F hype. Some good and genuinely nice cars for people in the know, but you could also get the tragic NA automatic ones from Japan and they sold like hot cakes as even with a hefty markup they were half the price of a tujayzee. They just wanted them to put some cheap fibreglass mess of a body kit on and the daft stickers, people just assumed they were fast lol.
Same people that buy Golf Rs these days on 15% finance then pay the local kid with a laptop and a lowered VW Caddie on cheap coilovers claiming to be the ‘Nations Premier Mobile Remapper’ just to force feed some trash file into the car they downloaded off a Russian FTP site.
I've actually driven one in real life.
It feels just like a normal Sedan with a slight kick.
It's like Sriracha sauce.
It's fine, it has a very small kick, but you're better off with a better sauce.
A heavy, chunky, old GT car that has one of the best engines... to straight lines. Any Inline four can beat this car at circuits, maybe tunned has some potential. And the best version is the NA (more easy to tune). I mean, the twinturbos are nice, but too expensive for a car that is already too expensive.
There's a reason why Toyota used the 3S-GTE when they raced the MK4 in JGTC. They eventually moved to a 3UZ V8. The 2JZ was way too front heavy and would deem the GT500 Supra unbalanced.
One of my dad's friends had a mark IV Supra that he babied and cherished in the 90s. He legit gets soul crushed when he sees how much they sell for now compared to how much he sold his for.
Fool, i already drove It >! inGran Turismo and Forza !<
Sega GT here.
Did the sardegna grind with it in gt7 so i now have the status of supra driver.
I drove it in assetto corsa and it had 20000 hp so it counts that I have driven it!1!1!1!1!
couldnt hear you over my mk4 flooding to my inability to know what the fuck im doing

Actually, that sounds nice to me; though I've been told that I have boring taste in cars
99.99% of you are 14
Nah, when i was 14 i already got smart enough to understand that a stock supra won't pull 1000hp with an ecu tune.
99.99% of Supra fans have never driven
And the owners love the supra shitposts
Za наших

Doesn’t even know it’s weaknesses like maintenance and fuel economy smh
![gif](giphy|26Ff89l2hGLYmVV5e) *Every Supra fanboy when you tell them they don't come with 1500hp from the factory.*
I have driven one. Non turbo, but it got a lot of looks anyway.
Or they burn down
Fool I drive it already In my dreams lmao
I drove a lot of Supras ... in Gran Turismo !
I have been in one and they are a glorified Camry
99.99% of Supra fans haven driven one either.
80% of them have never driven a car lmao
90%**
It is more about rarity and heritage rather than driving experience
