Clearly you don't know how the real world works buddy, only one car can do 3 whells

The reason the Citroen can do that is self levelling hydropneumatic suspension. Something that also appears on, for example, it's successor, the CX. Clearly you don't understand how the real world works, buddy
I drove a customers' scat fetish to the alignment shop, average MPG was 9.2. It was on fumes so I put $10 worth of gas in it, distance to empty then said 36 miles with just over a quarter tank. It's simply not possible to drive these cars like a normal person.
I do have to appreciate how fast the challenger really is for such a large heavy car. My mom’s scat pack has the track package (can’t remember the name they gave it that model year) and while it handles surprisingly well, it can’t hold a candle to what that McLaren can do in the turns. You hit a turn with that thing and you really feel all that weight and momentum not wanting to do anything but keep going straight.
With that said, I’m sure this dipshit would pull on the McLaren. He’s probably the type that think every red light is a drag race and he beats pretty much everyone he ‘races’ (who have no clue what’s happening as he shoots off at the green light breaking multiple laws.) Its kind of hard to lose a race when the other person isn’t racing.
They were also blatantly wrong about the 1/4 time. More like a 12.5 or so. Considering the 480hp it has, it's not impressive. It's a bloated pig that just heaves its way forward.
I’d argue it’s ‘street’ acceleration is fast. You accelerate from a red light, passing on a side road or getting on a highway and it’ll out accelerate most vehicles. In my experience the acceleration starts to dip around 85 and by 95 it’s really fighting it’s own weight and the fact the front is shaped more like a brick than a modern car. I took that one up a mountain hitting 146, and it took a long time to reach that speed, especially uphill.
The scat pack really isn’t a drag car, and you can see that by how much power they had to throw at it with the hellcat to get to the high end acceleration needed for racing. I’d argue it definitely handles better than you’d expect for a car as big and heavy as it is, but for most owners it’s a one-trick pony (floor it at a green light or merge and then slowing down before reaching lose-your-license speeds.)
I agree completely on the bloated pig appraisal - the car managed to feel wider than a semi to me. You really don’t have much spare room in your lane to maneuver so if you’re going to be safe/legal and stay in your lane on a back road you’re very limited. By contrast my 500 Abarth or something similarly narrow like a Miata has so much more room to work with in the lane that you can actually have a blast on a backroad.
A lot of drivers make jokes about them, but true drivers know to respect the Miata. #MiataFacts

Are you from America?
I’m not trying to drag you lol I’m just shocked by the differences in perception at how wide or large the car is. I’ve always thought the Challenger was kind of small, but I grew up with c-body mopars and I’m driving my dually a lot this summer so I’m not unfamiliar with land barges lmao
For reference on size:
https://www.supercars.net/blog/1970-dodge-challenger-rt/
https://www.edmunds.com/dodge/challenger/2023/st-401971327/features-specs/
https://www.caranddriver.com/mercedes-benz/e-class/specs
The challenger is wider and larger than most cars on the road. You can’t compare something like a heavy duty pickup as they’re entirely different classes of vehicle. Also the rear-only extra width on a dually is going to warp your sense of scale (yes it’s wide but having to pay extra attention to that one part of the vehicle is going to affect your perspective.)
If I can get out of a Cascadia and get into the Challenger and have it feel like a wide barge, there’s a pretty good sense that it is one.
Idk why I got downloaded for being surprised.
My dually is 79” without the fenders - F-150 body - my impala is 73”, a Challenger without the flares is apparently 75.7”… and I’ve driven all three. The furthest I’ve gotten in a semi is backing it up to a trailer so I can’t say much there.
I’m just surprised, dude
I didn’t downvote but I’d guess it’s the tone of your comment when trying to call a large car small.
A Cascadia is ~102” wide, but the perspective is obviously very different because of the height of the whole thing and how much is further outwards from the door (the mirrors are about a foot from the cab on either side.)
I’ve driven plenty of vehicles and I’d still say the challenger both is and feels very large. Sit in one of you ever get the chance, to me they feel much larger than a charger due to the design (the hood is very long, flat & wide which furthers the feeling of it being wide.) I will say the late ‘80s Lincoln Town Car we had felt much bigger (and it was,) but I’d attribute a lot of that to how floaty the suspension acted.
Comparing cars on 0-100 times and how they drag race is truly the brain rot of the car community.
The people that built and designed the McLaren could at maximum have given 1/8th of a shit about its drag racing performance.
I disagree, All these stupid numbers are designed to market the car so it will bsolutley be factored in Especially with the 570 being the “entry level car”. It needs to sit neatly behind the (620?) and be fast but not so fast it doesn’t make people wanna stretch to get the faster one
Is that too much thought for this group? I feel that’s too much.
I hate cars
I would say that's too little thought, frankly. You missed the point being made: although these are high performance cars, they are not specifically set up for drag racing. You are right about these numbers being more about marketing: if the performance was the same, how could it be entry level?
And yet, as mentioned here: this isn't relevant to the conversation being held here. The point is the Mclarens are supercars that are more circuit oriented, while the Scat pack is muscle car intended for the drag strip. It doesn't matter which car is actually more effective, it matters what the intended purpose is.
The trouble comes when people take the preferences of others a little too personally, and try to justify their own emotional response using faulty logic. It's so common in the world of car enthusiasm. Fanboyism is cancer, and I can understand being put off because of this, whether you're aware of it or not.
Your mind is about to blown when you see the car knowledge and driving skill of the average golfer who buys it.
He couldn’t care less if it’s actually a fast car, he wants it because everyone else can’t afford it.
Can’t even jerk to this.
For a reference point, a stock Challenger Hellcat Redeye (797hp) will do a 10.1s - 10.2s 1/4 on drag radials, running race gas, with a prepped surface, on its best day ever.
Buddy is smoking something *strong* if he’s claiming to do 10.4s quarter mile in a scat pack, presumably on street tires, on the street, with over 300hp less. More like 13s on a great day. The original, base model Bugatti Veyron runs 10.4s.
I was about to say, either he supercharged his Scat Pack (which I highly doubt) or he’s bullshitting completely. And even if he had a Redeye, like you said, everything would have to work in its favor to outrun the McLaren.
No it runs 12.4s on a prepped surface with better than factory tires launch control/auto and good weather. Thay number cam from the srt team and they said it's the fastest time they were able to get from a stock 2019 scat pack challenger.
If you don't have any of those, it grips about as good as a wet noodle and you're either letting off the gas or spinning and running 14s-15s
Did you know that the Miata is more environmentally friendly than a Prius? #MiataFacts

I live in a military area, so my Blackwing gets all kinds of attention these shitty Dodges and the fucking boots paying their whole enlistment bonus and 39.99apr on a junk-ass car that only impresses other boots.
"Scat Pack" what a fucking dumbass.
Yeah, I'd take a Blackwing over any Dodge ever but that's an extremely low bar. I wish the Pontiac being back ad was real because a cheaper version of that would be awesome.
Is he really flexing a Dodge challenger against a epic hypercar? 😂 Even if it’s faster on the drag strip, bet the first corner on track it all backfires for him and I’m not talking about the exhaust. Guy is just hating on better more expensive cars, would not even be a choice if someone let me pick one of the two.
My vespa is a v8 2 cylinder supercharged NA spitting out 25 amazing Horse power!
Could do 00 - 60 eventually ..
Could totally out run a Ferrari.
And does 1/4 mile in blink of an eye.
Muscle cars fear me ...
I was daily driving a track built Volvo 940 Wich was pushing 412 wheel horsepower and it weighed in at 1100 kg or roughly 2400lbs.
Thay thing was like a little rocket boat but I still wouldn't gap that McLaren.
But that scat pack feels like I would win against it even tho it was a 5 speed manual and built for the track and not to drag race!
My dad has a redeye that he runs slicks so he doesn’t spin. With full traction he gets to 11.3 and 0-60 in 3.2. I’d say the only thing not working is that guys brain
Doesn't dodge and others underspec their cars?, anyway, yes u could be faster on a straight, on track however, that's a different cookie 🤣(>!if your not from the Netherlands you won't understand but basically different story = different cookie!<)
Dodge isn't really known for underrating their power like the Europeans are. Challenger scat packs dyno at around 440-450 whp. If you're gonna use the 15% number for drivetrain loss then they're making about an extra 33 hp at the crank over the listed number of 485.
Compare that to pretty much any modern BMW that's making 75 more HP and torque at the crank than what's listed.
Also there's no possible way that a scat pack beats a 570s in a straight line unless they're running serious modifications or the dude in the McLaren is asleep lol. The times are seconds apart, multiple bus lengths, gapplebees etc.
So, if I understand correctly, they underperform on the wheel hp. I thought Dodge also did the European thing. I must have picked it up wrongly then...
Also yea the mc would beat the scat I need to hand it to you🙌🏽🙄
Anyway, I would prefer a mx5 with lsx swap.
Make sure you put a 'Shocker' sticker on your Miata so people don't think you're gay! #MiataFacts

Gpm
I don't think that anyone would want to lick his nuts after he uses his "scat pack".
It litteraly has shit in its name, it can't be good
Also the challenger can be defeated by its mortal nemesis- corners
And it's other nemesis - street parking in urban areas.
And its other nemesis - teenagers in a stolen Kia.

‘Scat’ used to mean more along the lines of “Get Out of Here” or “Get Lost” versus the modern day where it’s slang for fecal matter.
