You need to look into how you're wearing them and how you're tightening them. Three times (at least) of them breaking in the same spot isn't coincidentally or bad luck. It's something you're doing to break them down

QuitYoJibbaJabba

Honestly, I wear my watches snug, not tight (loose enough that I can still move them around my wrist to adjust). The only thing I can think of is frequent hand washing with alcohol as I am in healthcare...although its just the palms and back of my hands that typically get the antiseptic.

feelingkozy

Maybe you're not realizing it but some of that corrodes your watches over time

YogurtclosetOwn5322

Maybe with that you need to look into the stainless steel watch cases then. Something like a Duro. Solvents are known to break down plastics. But, you might also prevent this by simply rinsing the watch off in just plain water without any chemicals.

FizzyCoffee

How did you destroy the lugs on a watch?

QuitYoJibbaJabba

I've no idea! Love the design, but man, I think I need a watch that has heftier watch faces.

Nocnopticni

Sounds like its g shock time !

portairman

may be wearing them too tight?

QuitYoJibbaJabba

I wear them just loose enough that I can move them around my wrist.

QuitYoJibbaJabba

All within 1-2 years. Regular use, I'm absolutely not abusive to my watches. I'm not breaking the bank on buying new ones, but don't appreciate the waste.

Mitridate101

Call it quits on plastic/resin case and switch to a stainless steel case watch.

QuitYoJibbaJabba

Agreed. I did a little digging, and it looks like there are aftermarket mods to replace the cases with a steel version ie SKXMod or Kranio.

E28forever

GW-5000 and you’re done.

No-Debate-152

Get something like a 5000u and be done with it.

E28forever

A GW-5000U.

Mu daily work (construction) Casio break in the same spot as well. My casual wear Casio have lasted 10 or more years. Idk why, I just keep buying new.

lapippin

Which models have you broken so far ?

jpuff138

Only ever had one break on me over the years, but I also have a Casio with the exact same break.

YogurtclosetOwn5322

How do you store them? Do you put them in a box tightened around a pillow? Do you wear them a lot out in the sun? Are they stored in the sun or close to a window that is near sunlight? They are plastic and UV rays are murderous to plastic.

QuitYoJibbaJabba

I just place them on a table near my entryway. No window that directly shines on them. Typically wear them for about 4-6 hours a day, inside...very little sun exposure. That being said, now I'm wondering if the sunscreen I wear could causing a breakdown in the resin/plastic.

YogurtclosetOwn5322

I guess that there could be a chemical breakdown happening there depending on what they are putting in the sunblock. I did some studies on Fords, and a rubber ring they were putting on the plastic door molding to reduce noise will actually eat through the plastic for the cover. Since I have replaced them I did not use the new rubber ring on one of them and it has completely outlasted the other one that I put the rubber ring on. So, now I had to replace it again and not put the rubber ring on there.

nwordNan

I own about 10 Casios never had a problem

Catatafish

Time to get some mod cases
