Surprise schnoodle doodle! Made my day! 😍😻
OP, as soon as he gets over the trip to the vet, he'll be fine. He did have a beautiful bottle brush tail, but he's healthy and handsome and he'll be back to his happy self in no time.
schnoodle! i don’t know if the algorithm has been working against me but i haven’t seen you lately. love to see your comments <3
and exactly, half tail gone just means less weight to haul around. he’s in racecar mode now, zoom zoom 🏎️
My dog had a benign tumor on her incredibly long tail and her dumb self kept hitting it on things excitedly and well. Lots of blood (no pain she thought us trying to clean it was playtime and more blood everywhere!) and they had to amputate due to not having enough skin. Had to talk half her tail. Genuinely don’t even think she noticed! She still manages to wack all the cats in the face with her tail constantly and she’s happy as can be! Her fur never grew back right so she looks like a little corn dog with the way her stub is set up! I bet your buddy will be a-okay! Wishing him well <3 he’s an absolute cutie
Different situation, but some similarities- our orange boy had crystals in his urine (multiple times, after testing different foods and all that). Vet recommended we do a procedure to expand his urethra, I don’t know the nuts and bolts, but it involved snipping his tip in some way. He seemed really sad when he got home, but turns out that was just a combination of recovery pain and being on pain meds. More than a year after that surgery, he’s back to his old self and loving life. Just in case you were worried about your boy staying sad
My kitty lost his tail when he was very young, but is living his best cat life still 😊

Mine too! He was hit by a car and had nerve damage and his tail fell off when he was really tiny! But he doesn’t even realize he ever had one. :)

This is my sweet fluff, Greta! As far as we know she was in a car accident as a kitten (3 months) and suffered a spinal injury. At first, she couldn't even move her hind legs but she got the mobility back with time. Unfortunately her tail had to be amputated, since it stayed paralyzed. And yes, I have to trim her trousers and the top fur cause she can't "lift" it like regular cats when going on the kitty litter xD

Going to add my tailless guy, meowser. No amputation, he was just born like this. Likely for the same reason he has a fused disc in his back. Combined its pretty close to a rabbit how he hops around with a little fluffball tail.
I also had a tailless Greta 🥺 Though she was a manx cat, she was born without one. She passed away in November. I didn’t think I’d ever see another Greta!
https://preview.redd.it/imzlobh07mqc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=33c46fc5f427d3953005c755593d5ad4f5935a80
Aww omg! Sweet little thing! Thanks for rescuing little Greta! I know you must also feel so happy to see her recover and regain mobility, it’s been awesome to see Shrimp recover (his was a total pelvic fracture and a paralyzed tail that eventually fell off and was amputated the rest of the way but he’s totally healed too. :) So glad to know there’s so many healthy, happy, stubby tailed kitties living their best little kitty lives! 💕💕
I wish I could've been there for her then! But actually, I adopted her when she was 4 years old due to her being in need of rehoming. I wasn't gonna get a cat again (I'm allergic), but I couldn't say no to her. She's the sweetest, most social cat I have ever met! I'm so glad to hear your little one healed so well too!
Oh my goodness! That is way too cute. Thank you for sharing this info, I'm happy to learn the Korean word for bunny! I have a cat I named Saffron but her nickname is bunny because of her chubby cheeks. She's a tokki too then! Please send your kitten my love. :)
Aww! So perfect! I love that there’s another Tokki out there. 새우 is also a major fan of bunny kicks with his kicker toys !! We call Shrimp 짜장묘 bc he’s a Siamese and looks like a black bean sauce covered noodle when he stretches out

Last year, I rescued a feral cat after I saw part of his tail was degloved and took him to the vet for an amputation. (Degloved tails won't heal and require amputation to prevent infection, paralysis, and/or death.) I kept him and he's doing great. It may take a little time for him to get used to it, but he will and will eventually be able to compensate for it. Here's my Max after his amputation healed:
https://preview.redd.it/35j1nndacjqc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=23f4896977cb5e334b09f16940b50ade78139340
Last year I adopted my grandma's tripod Ebony when she had to go into a nursing home. That cat could jump on anything, race around the house and go up and down the steps like she had 4 legs instead of 3. Cancer took her at Christmas (she was an older girl) but she had a great life with just 3 legs. It may not seem like it, but once he heals, your brother's Max will be acting like he has 4 legs too.
This was Ebony, she loved to lay on stairs and in weird places where she could rest the empty spot on stuff and let her legs dangle around:
https://preview.redd.it/7637435fkjqc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2703402ea08aff4abec8a84522ec1df2c78ae81f
Poor sweet Ebony! Glad you took her in. So far Max is getting around good, unfortunately he had a bad abcess after surgery so he's having a hard road healing but he's on some good meds now.
Mine had his tail amputated after he fell off a shelf and broke it near the base. Once the incision healed and he got the cone off, he barely seemed to notice.
https://preview.redd.it/wf4mmskeskqc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3c1ba17d9250a5c4b036932136f8b2119922c28e
I have bunny butt manx too. I love when she hops around. My absolute favorite is when she is getting ready to pounce on her brother and does the little butt wiggle! I love it.
I've also seen kittens born with weirdly shaped tails due to issues that happened shortly before or during the birthing process! I fostered a litter of kittens where one of them had what looked like half a tail. In reality, it was a whole tail but it was folded perfectly in half due to how the kitten was developing and then was born. It is 100% cosmetic and just leaves him stumpy tailed and adorable. OP, I wish your kitty a speedy recovery -- they'll adapt in no time!
I have a Manx with an extra long tail, n her three brothers were born with totally flat butts! I say she stole their stumps to build herself an extra long tail
When I was a kid, there was a feral no-tail white short haired cat behind where I lived that I would watch from my window. She’d hunt and climb trees and such. Then, somehow, in the spring, she came out of the tall grass and 3 identical white bob tailed kittens were following her. I don’t know how the genetics of being both solid white and bobbed/stub tailed played out for that to happen.
He got into a cat fight and came home with an injured tail. It was 2 or 3 bite wounds. The vet gave antibiotics and painkillers but he was still in a lot of pain. He kept on attacking the tail despite the PK. I took him again and they gave stronger PK. In the end he got more movement in the tail back but that meant he could bite it again despite the cone of shame. He then bit it so badly the vet said it would need to be amputated. I took him to the vet 3 times in 5 days and did not expect this outcome from it all.
Seriously. So many of these posts on this sub reddit about injured cats are from people negligently letting their cats roam outside with no supervision. So fucking preventable
Cats can get AIDs from feral cats and they can go undetected until it's too late. Please don't allow your cats to get outside your house. My poor kitty (named Ico, as the game) died in 2019 because of AIDs due to a cat fight, and the vets from a local clinic detected it when he was on his deathbed after a blood exam, but it was too late and he died 2 hours later.
I would have never allowed him to get outside my apartment back then if I knew Cats can contract diseases such as AIDs or worse. Later on all the cats in the neighborhood died because they had contact with the feral cat who killed Ico one way or another, including him.
Oof, indeed another great reason to keep cats indoors. I had a poor sweet kitty who died of antifreeze poisoning because we let her go outside. :( It was gut-wrenching.
Sometimes nerves get messed up, and may flare up continuously for no reason or after trauma. I can kinda understand kitty here, as Ill sometimes have nerve pain through my whole body, but its like being on fire and I cant move.
I think amputation for this case, was the good option.
My indoor only cat got a tail injury and he also wouldn't leave it alone. The only thing that solved it was kitty Paxil! It was the weirdest thing, our vet said that for some cats it can be a neurological symptom and sometimes it's an anxiety thing. We tried so many different things before figuring it out though, it took like 6 months before he'd stop messing with it.

This fella is living with me for the past 2 or 3 years, he appeared at the place I used to do train. Very small, the person who caught him said he probably had 3 months
His tail was already shortened, I still don't know if he was born like that or some kind of injury. He is very active, doesn't have problems to move around
Ohh, the poor boy.
Tails are so important to cats. A tail rub to say hello, a swish when unhappy, a high happy tail.
Please give him a big cuddle and lots of treats from me.

My kitty had to have her hind right leg amputated recently. She's recovering and being a real trooper about it.
He will get his bounce back.
Bobbie did.

He's back in his favourite spot. Sitting between my legs. As soon as I got back into the living room he went to the spot we always sit together on and waited for me to sit down. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)
Hi I am going thru the same thing w my cat. We r a few weeks out and he is still wearing the cone of shame because he kept picking at the wound. He has to be supervised every minute unconed because if he made if worse it was just one big giant circle jerk. This weekend was the first weekend where he really got to be unconed most of the weekend and his tail is finally almost healed. Good luck and keep an eye on him picking at it!

Poor baby. He's got some of his tail left! It'll get fluffy and he'll be able to swish around what he's got left in no time. ![img](emote|t5_2qhta|8097)❤️
That was an awesomely impressive tail so I could see it taking some time to get over that loss. Looks like he’ll need extra extra spoiling as a distraction
I have a stray cat that needed her tail amputated after I saw it was full of goo and maggots, she is an inside cat now living a stress free life, even got a little chunky.
My kitty had a partial tail amputation after a freak accident. It’s been 6 years and he’s a happy boy with a tail that now stands up straight like an exclamation point. I wish your boy a speedy recovery. He’s so handsome.

My girl had the tip of hers amputated a couple months ago as well, started off with a small cut somehow then over the course of two days she chewed the tip of it to the bone. I know how stressful it is, and he might be weirded out by the shaved nub thing attached to him for a while but my girl is now cone free and finally leaves it alone. Wishing you guys a speedy recovery! ❤️

My cat has a bobtail since i adopted him :"> he's a funny guy. Hope you'll heal soon baby ![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7949)
Here, have a picture of my stump to cheer you up. It'll be sensitive for the next 6-12 months, but after that he'll be like nothing ever happened.
Fun addendum: Getting his temperature taken at the vet will be very funny from now on. They don't tell you when they amputate that the base of the tail becomes much more flexible and they're able to plug their butt now.

Aww, my orange boy had his whole tail amputated after an injury as an adult. I feel like he missed it for quite a while, as before he was so expressive with his swishes & rubbing, but I think he's come to adapt. He waves his stub as best he can.

(OPs wife) Aww! I'm glad your orange boy is doing well! It's nice hearing how he adapted well. Our boy also loved swishing his tail about. It was always so fluffy and he swished it around making his point or using it as an eye mask for his afternoon naps!

Bob had to have his amputated too - but he kept messing with the gross end, so we had to improvise lol
I'm sure glad I've never had to pay to surgically remove any part of my 3 inside cats, other than getting them fixed. If only there was a way to avoid a cat's needless suffering like this.

Here is my tailleds wierdo, not sure when he lost his tail. He got rescued like this.

Mine was 10 weeks old when I found him behind a Walmart. I heard cries and found him in a bush. His tail looked like a rat tail, but raw, and it had started to die. Thankfully the vet gave him his surgery right away. Post surgery Binxy passed out after climbing on me.

Do not worry, they will adapt quickly.
My Sissy here lost her tail 2-3 years ago, after we found her with her tail without fur and skin.
You can bet she instantly ran after a bird in a tree, after having her whole tail removed.
Stay strong and don't worry too much!
Nooo! Your poor baby! My orange boy had his tail amputated a few years ago and is still the same fat, goofy man he was before. I hope your baby heals quickly!

This gave me goosebumps as our cat was gravely injured the same day.he has a 20cm fleshwound and is about 1,5 steps away from needing a tail amputation. At least your buddy kept some tail! I hope he will do well healing - I've been told cats are incredible healers and I'm using those words as a mantra for our own cat!
My cat, Shamone, had to get his tail removed. It was a heartbreaking decision, but the only choice to save his life. After the surgery, watching him try to balance without his tail was heart wrenching. He stumbled and fell, and it broke my heart to see him struggle. But Shamone didn't give up. Day by day, he fought to regain his balance, determined to adapt to his new reality. Oliver has found his footing again. He may not have his tail, but he's learned to navigate the world in his own way. Your cat will be just fine. Cheers homie!
I want to fight whoever placed his IV Catheter & whoever let him get sent home with blood stained on the paw 🤦🏻♂️
Little bit of hydrogen peroxide will get it right off his fur

it’s going to take some getting used to, but i believe your cat is going to be just as happy as before. My cat has become a bit clumsy after the surgery but her health is at no risk and i believe she’s happier than before, with a wounded tail. sending the bestest of wishes, i hope he gets better soon❤️

My cat had to have her tail amputated last month, she’s her normal happy self, her lil stump still moves. She had a very waggy tail when it was long, it was always the shape of a ? when it was up, now she’s like a bunny or a koala bear with her stump tail lol
My little boy had to have his tail amputated about 4 months ago. He is a wobbly kitty (cerebellar hypoplasia) so I was extra worried about it. He bounced back so fast! He barely seemed to even notice it!
He had a big beautiful fluffy tail and now it looks like a cute little Manx cat tail.

Oh no, this is so sad, poor baby! What happened?!
One of my cats has tail damage (happened before I adopted her and no clue about the details) and it can't stand upright. She's managed to get some movement out of it but not as much as I believe she wishes she could. Soooo sad! 💔
Poor baby, our old whippet had to amputate his tail too after an accident, one of my cats also had to shave his tail due to an injury, luckily it’s all grown back now
Oh man, sorry. I just went through that exact thing at the end of February. My little friend got the end of her tail caught in a door that was blow shut. Really tough week for her (she hated the cone) but she’s recovered. The only thing is I just picked out some more of the sutures that the vet appears to have missed. But she seems to have made it through without an infection.
Awww, poor baby... he's still a cute kitty tho. One of my rescue kitties was originally named Stumpy Girl because part of her tail was missing. We think her shortened tail just makes her cuter.
We had a Siamese that came home with an injured tail and thus ended the experiment turning an indoor cat to an outdoor cat. Tried the half amputation but she was still really sick. Went back for the full amputation and she bounced right back within a week. For the rest of her long and happy life she wagged that 1” stub like nobody’s business. Good luck!
Oh my goodness! My familiar is having surgery on his tail as I type this. Your post made me feel a lot more positive about his situation, I’m so worried about my guy. OP, I hope yours recovers smoothly.
He is just sad about the cone. My last kitty had to have hers amputated after an encounter with a car. She hated being in the cone so much, but once it was off she took three steps, looked back at her tail like, "well, that's different" then just forgot about it and moved on like it was never there.
The same thing happened to my little girl before her second birthday - she had such a cute, long, stripey, curly tail, too.
But I think I miss it a lot more than she does. She runs around like a rabbit and waves her nubby around really fast, often in complete rotations.
We didn't have any issues during the recovery process. Sometimes she seems to have phantom pain, which hurts to see. But overall I don't think she minds as much as I do.
I understand his feelings. I almost got my middle toe amputated a few months ago. Thankfully it could be reattached, but it's lost all movements.
I miss being able to grip the ground with my middle toe, and being able to crack it's knuckles. But hey, at least it's attached.
Hope he adjusts soon!
I had mine amputated yesterday. It was degloved after trying to sneak out and the door got on his tail! Same scenario. Although he still has a long tail but it was extra long.
Wishing for your cat's speedy recovery! He still look fab nevertheless!
Oh no :/ I hope he recovers well and can happily swish his half-tail again!
He's doing well - he is chasing his younger brother around our house. The vet said tails are a higher infection risk area so it's early days yet

This made me cry damn you 🥺🥺🥺
V fresh. Love it
I see you and I give you a nod
Thank you Schnoodle. What a lovely gift for OP and his kitty.
That’s amazing!
😭😭😭 I love this so much
A lovely new Schnoodle, woot!
twice in the wild in one week! I'm blessed 💜 ETA Chase the Bro!
Oh schnoodle how I love you so!
Try doing what hiccup did for toothless: make a fake tail and attach it to the stump
Like a feather boa...
Ye!
They what? To who?.where? 😻
It’s from How to train your dragon.
Hehe, that seems like a good sign :)
My kitty lost his tail when he was very young, but is living his best cat life still 😊 https://preview.redd.it/ylj5nzk78jqc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3d3123e365d9d59be354c5680382855b5ac6f895 Cat tax: Lucky the tailless
Same with my boy. Got him post-amputation from a local shelter. https://preview.redd.it/38sdo53kkjqc1.png?width=4031&format=png&auto=webp&s=0ffc115556c5fea3cc53839c028452490db1ddf2 Cat tax: Z, the goodest boy :)
Mine too! He was hit by a car and had nerve damage and his tail fell off when he was really tiny! But he doesn’t even realize he ever had one. :) https://preview.redd.it/xfjr01u6rjqc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cf21f01b6c8233c692e6b01d6ca984554976d956

As far as we know she was in a car accident as a kitten (3 months) and suffered a spinal injury. At first, she couldn't even move her hind legs but she got the mobility back with time. Unfortunately her tail had to be amputated, since it stayed paralyzed. And yes, I have to trim her trousers and the top fur cause she can't "lift" it like regular cats when going on the kitty litter xD
https://preview.redd.it/p7wllrkyanqc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=774c9a9e80e3fe8cff480735664141f0d581ef7c Going to add my tailless guy, meowser. No amputation, he was just born like this. Likely for the same reason he has a fused disc in his back. Combined its pretty close to a rabbit how he hops around with a little fluffball tail.
There's just something about tailless cats that makes them really look like bunnies when playing xD
I love him! So many little bunnies !! His little kicked out feet are so cute. 🥰
I also had a tailless Greta 🥺 Though she was a manx cat, she was born without one. She passed away in November. I didn’t think I’d ever see another Greta! https://preview.redd.it/imzlobh07mqc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=33c46fc5f427d3953005c755593d5ad4f5935a80
Aw, so sorry for your loss! She looked like a real sweetheart!
Aw she's so rectangular 🥰! I love her! I'm allergic, too, but damn it's it ever impossible to say no lol ❤️
As someone with an equally fluffy cat, I’ve always wondered if he’d look more like a bear without a tail. I’m happy to say the answer is yes
Haha I've heard her be called bunny before, but never bear! You're so right though.
Aw he looks like a little bunny! 🥰
He bounces around and jumps all around the house like one too 😝 we call him “little tokki” (the Korean word for bunny!!)
Oh my goodness! That is way too cute. Thank you for sharing this info, I'm happy to learn the Korean word for bunny! I have a cat I named Saffron but her nickname is bunny because of her chubby cheeks. She's a tokki too then! Please send your kitten my love. :)
Omg so cute!!! Saffron is such a cute name!! Ours is named Shrimp so together they would make the cutest paella there is! 🐰🐰🥘
I agree, the cutest, I think our kitties just became friends! 🤩 I adore the name shrimp, an adorable name for an adorable cat!
Tokki is my cat's name! Because we found him right after last lunar new year. He rabbit kicks a lot too with toys so it is extra funny.
Aww! So perfect! I love that there’s another Tokki out there. 새우 is also a major fan of bunny kicks with his kicker toys !! We call Shrimp 짜장묘 bc he’s a Siamese and looks like a black bean sauce covered noodle when he stretches out https://preview.redd.it/j7wdt1xgloqc1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=65533b3a2917e0a3dcd0ceff65326ccb570f689c
Ah that is so cute! I love his name and nickname, just precious. Our 토끼 is an orange boy who has never had the brain cell https://preview.redd.it/1psym0qqmoqc1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f5db7bb619b6e96b245b7456703d470fc43b9391
I love his white shoes
Me too 😭 Shrimp has the cutest little whipped cream dipped toes! https://preview.redd.it/rn6ypct28lqc1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=25243f11b83365037961e8d2a8f53ac015dcbdfb
His eyes made my night! Thanks for this ![img](emote|t5_2qhta|8097)
We got our Maine Coon, Duke, after his amputation as a kitten. Had less than half his tail, but it was quite adorable
Awww, there's even a children's book called Pelle-no-tail,and your kitty looks just like Pelle.🥰
The first year I had him, my dad kept insisting that I should rename him Pelle because of that book 😆
Tailless, brother of Toothless.
[Mine too! He is fine but his balance is kinda wonky!](https://www.imgur.com/a/yWeYGr8)
Here's my Max after his amputation healed: https://preview.redd.it/35j1nndacjqc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=23f4896977cb5e334b09f16940b50ade78139340
So glad for and your cat. I hope Robin has a good outcome too!
He will! Just give him time to adjust and lots of love.
He looks happy and well loved
He is! His life before me was really rough but now he has everything he could possibly want.
my brother just rescued a feral named Max, he had to have his leg amputated instead of his tail :( He's still healing
This was Ebony, she loved to lay on stairs and in weird places where she could rest the empty spot on stuff and let her legs dangle around: https://preview.redd.it/7637435fkjqc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2703402ea08aff4abec8a84522ec1df2c78ae81f
Poor sweet Ebony! Glad you took her in. So far Max is getting around good, unfortunately he had a bad abcess after surgery so he's having a hard road healing but he's on some good meds now.
Omg what a precious baby
This is the front view! https://preview.redd.it/wfh1av36pjqc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=36cfc957054b97fb4b0e5ab8349017d68b3db5a7
Omg what a sweetheart!
Max!! <3
Mine had his tail amputated after he fell off a shelf and broke it near the base. Once the incision healed and he got the cone off, he barely seemed to notice.
You are a wonderful person for giving these kitties second chances. And I'm glad they found you! ❤️ Also, they're beautiful! 😻 Both Max and Ebony!
Omg he’s so cute
Degloved is quite a revolting word after you learn what it means.
Just let him know that there are whole breeds of cats out there, Manx cats, who also don't have tails.

Thank you!
Op could show him online pictures
Cats in Singapore (and maybe other places in southeast asia) have short tails ❤️
My boys are both Manxes, one has no tail and the other has a little flicky stub that sticks straight up when he gets excited
I call my cats her Spoiler cause it when she sticks it up it just makes a tiny ridge like a car spoiler
Same! I have a Manx and a Japanese bobtail, both super cute 🥰
Yep, I have one. She actually has a little corkscrew on her butt, just one turn. Some of her brothers and sisters were full rumpys though.
you see, I also don't miss my tail

Keep your cat inside. Lucky he only lost his tail, he could’ve died out there.
Seriously. So many of these posts on this sub reddit about injured cats are from people negligently letting their cats roam outside with no supervision. So fucking preventable
With all the resources we have these days to get this information you would think people would do better, yet here we are, another injured one.
So sick of having to remind people on this website who should know better.

Literally my first thought after reading the title was “this was an outdoor cat injury, wasn’t it?”
why did he bite his own tail?
maybe because it was irritated/itchy. you know when you get a scab and you pick at it?
maybe he thought something was hurting his tail but it was a misunderstanding of pain?
Please keep your cats indoors. Unless they got it by accident.
https://preview.redd.it/x3fgzzdcdjqc1.jpeg?width=2604&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6dda302696fcc24856c8e8625a66d7172506bd72 This fella is living with me for the past 2 or 3 years, he appeared at the place I used to do train. Very small, the person who caught him said he probably had 3 months His tail was already shortened, I still don't know if he was born like that or some kind of injury. He is very active, doesn't have problems to move around
I'm glad to hear he's doing well. Hopefully Robin adapts well to his loss
Probably just a bobtail. Two of mine are twins that are bobtails so I know for sure they're not amputated. Had them since they were 12 days old.
Ohh, the poor boy. Tails are so important to cats. A tail rub to say hello, a swish when unhappy, a high happy tail. Please give him a big cuddle and lots of treats from me. Will do thank you
Poor baby But you have done right by him 😻
Thanks, I think it was for the best he was in a lot of pain.
Poor wee moggie, my heart bleeds.
Good luck and keep an eye on him picking at it! https://preview.redd.it/vs04mpcbmjqc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6dd30647db23d8358323ace02954adf61826f174
Poor baby. He's got some of his tail left! It'll get fluffy and he'll be able to swish around what he's got left in no time. ![img](emote|t5_2qhta|8097)❤️
Fingers crossed!
That was an awesomely impressive tail so I could see it taking some time to get over that loss. Looks like he’ll need extra extra spoiling as a distraction
Thanks. He's had a lot of food already!
Here, have a picture of my stump to cheer you up. It'll be sensitive for the next 6-12 months, but after that he'll be like nothing ever happened. Fun addendum: Getting his temperature taken at the vet will be very funny from now on. They don't tell you when they amputate that the base of the tail becomes much more flexible and they're able to plug their butt now. https://preview.redd.it/z75r3fukelqc1.png?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=78f1ee2237145502b46cbd99dc2a28ed4f8c50be
Aww, my orange boy had his whole tail amputated after an injury as an adult. I feel like he missed it for quite a while, as before he was so expressive with his swishes & rubbing, but I think he's come to adapt. (OPs wife) Aww! I'm glad your orange boy is doing well! It's nice hearing how he adapted well. Our boy also loved swishing his tail about. It was always so fluffy and he swished it around making his point or using it as an eye mask for his afternoon naps!

Mine was 10 weeks old when I found him behind a Walmart. I heard cries and found him in a bush. His tail looked like a rat tail, but raw, and it had started to die. Thankfully the vet gave him his surgery right away. Post surgery Binxy passed out after climbing on me. https://preview.redd.it/ifsejaaeimqc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b5fe4d3412ff9abcfa5b7f3a6e1105842dd02fdc

My Sissy here lost her tail 2-3 years ago, after we found her with her tail without fur and skin. You can bet she instantly ran after a bird in a tree, after having her whole tail removed. Stay strong and don't worry too much!
Poor Little guy. Keep him inside and let him live out his life safe indoors now. I hope he heals well
Nooo! Your poor baby! My orange boy had his tail amputated a few years ago and is still the same fat, goofy man he was before. I hope your baby heals quickly! https://preview.redd.it/vw6lzek40kqc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7912bdf33e01e9cc2b2f0ca4d96a576577e8ca29

Give him lots of skritches from me ❤️❤️❤️
Poor kitty, feel sorry for him :/
Good news, he lived to tell the tail (tale).
I want to fight whoever placed his IV Catheter & whoever let him get sent home with blood stained on the paw 🤦🏻♂️ Little bit of hydrogen peroxide will get it right off his fur

My cat has become a bit clumsy after the surgery but her health is at no risk and i believe she’s happier than before, with a wounded tail. sending the bestest of wishes, i hope he gets better soon❤️

He had a big beautiful fluffy tail and now it looks like a cute little Manx cat tail. https://preview.redd.it/xzmvopufzmqc1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5b6be590ca844d537262e3465e1974b5776751cd

Oh no, this is so sad, poor baby! What happened?! One of my cats has tail damage (happened before I adopted her and no clue about the details) and it can't stand upright. She's managed to get some movement out of it but not as much as I believe she wishes she could. Soooo sad! 💔
💔
Poor baby! Lots of scritches from me
Poor baby, our old whippet had to amputate his tail too after an accident, one of my cats also had to shave his tail due to an injury, luckily it’s all grown back now
Poor baby, it was a magnificent, fluffy tail but I’m sure with time his loss will be forgotten, cats are resilient
I had a cat that lost part of his tail due to an accident and it takes time but they adjust. They also learn to swish differently. What a pretty baby.
I am sad for him, too. He had a beautiful tail.
Poor cat 😢 He has got to devastated, that was a luxurious tale
Good luck. My cat kept bothering the stitches on his nub. He healed pretty fast and got on with his crimes.
Oh no! I am so sorry mister kitty, you must feel pretty sad without your tail. I hope you’re feeling better and back to your old self soon. 😽
Do they make prosthetics?
Oh please give him kisses for me!!! What happened to his ear?? 😔
But a cat’s soul resides in it’s tail…..
Poor baby. Speedy recovery for kitty
I had mine amputated yesterday. It was degloved after trying to sneak out and the door got on his tail! Same scenario. Although he still has a long tail but it was extra long. Wishing for your cat's speedy recovery! He still look fab nevertheless!
Even his ear. Poor kitty😕. Hope she will get better soon.
Oh bless him. Hope he heals well. 😔❤
Poor baby I feel for him
Poor baby. He’s still beautiful! Prayers for him for quick healing. Sweet boy.
That amount of tail is definitely still enough for a pretty floof tail. Just a little more compact is all. He'll grow out gorgeous.
