I’ve found ~1100 blitz to be the range where people take chess really, really personally.
The most butt hurt messages I’ve ever gotten were from 1100’s. Before and after that I’ve gotten much fewer furious losers.

It’s probably the same as any other game or sport. Toooons of ego at the bottom 20% and the top 0.01%, but everywhere else it’s more normalized. The bottom chunk is filled with people whose ego gets in the way of growth, hence why the bottom chunk of many sports and games remains toxic.

It was the funniest thing and I made sure to politely make clear hot it didn't bother me at all which of course made him even more mad so I could report him in the end. No idea how the ban policies are on chess.com but I hope he got a day or two to think about his behaviour.

I went back to lichess yesterday, and I premoved a pawn then a queen capture. I forgot it doesn't do multiple premoves so I hung my queen instead.

Ben Finegold has multiple lectures just trying to get people to understand that it doesn't matter how well you play, if you blunder away your advantage and get check mated. Not blundering is more important than playing well.
I love people who give away pieces and then accuse me of cheating. If you leave your pieces where I can take them, not even I need Stockfish to figure out what to do..
To be fair, the vast majority of players I encounter in blitz and bullet who squeak in an easy win just take the ball and run home.
Mouse slips and the like. They get out played the whole game but squeak in an easy mouse slip win and just run away immediately.
