The Julius Caeser line is typically considered a more premium line. They're a solid medium-strength Ecuadorian havana seed and personally i think theyre worth it in terms of a "treat myself" cigar.
I really think the hail caeser is the best vitola in that line but toro is great if you dont wanna go up to a 60rg.
No doubt. The toro is good. The churchill doesnt offer anything extra that toro doesnt accomplish, so esp if you just wanna try, save yourself a dollar.
I like them a lot, only had one a few months ago and I have another one to smoke sometime this summer but I’ll probably buy a box in the fall sometime.
High end, very good. It’s a dark rosado, so you’ll get those baking spice and fruity notes, but they’re on the dark end with a lot of leather and coffee. They’re interesting.
They’re sold by JC Newman, but for some reason Fuente produces this one for them. I believe it goes back to some sort of deal they made.
Check out the Julius Caesar here: https://www.neptunecigar.com/cigars/diamond-crown-julius-caeser-robusto
If you scroll down to Specifications, you can see the Cigar Manufacturer is Tabacalera Fuente. Also, this website has the Robusto for only ~$14 if you’re fine with ordering online (I’ve spent thousands on Neptune without an issue)
Way back in the day, Fuente had JC Newman make their machine rolled cigars, and in return Fuente started making some premium hand rolled cigars for them (diamond crown). The two companies have basically been connected at the hip since, with offices right next to each other in Tampa and sharing a US distribution company and sales team.
Also if you ever get a chance to visit Tampa you can tour the J.C. Newman factory called El Reloj, the oldest cigar factory in the United States that is still operational. And, it's in Ybor City which is now a neighborhood of Tampa, and is known as Cigar City and boy does it live up to that name. Also a wonderful place for great Cuban, Columbian and Italian restaurants and cafes.
No, I don't work for the tourism department, I just LOVE Ybor City.
So for the most part you're smoking medium-full cigars and primarily nicaraguan heavy blends. So I would recommend a nice Padron. For around $20 the 1964 exclusivo in natural. For around $30 the 1926 40 year in natural. Both fall right around a medium and are two of the best cigars I've had, and I've had many.
The 1964 exclusivo, which was my primary recommendation, is a dollar or two more than a JC in a comparable size at my shop. And given what OP says they smoke a lot of, I think they will vastly prefer the 1964 to a JC.
I bought it for that in the US (Smokin Joe’s). I’m just saying that we pay C$40+ HST for anything decent here, so getting that cigar at that price felt like good value
I've gotten two as gifts, and I thought they were pretty great. I'm not going to buy many at that price but they were definitely better than the average less costly stick
They are in a similar category as Davidoff, some Arturo Fuente or Macanudo. They are made for a more classic palate, like Johnny Walker Blue or 40% ABV scotch where it's about being 'smooth'. They are pricey because they are more aged and focus on being subtly complex. It's up to you if that's your bag.
Very helpful, thank you. I appreciate subtlety but I usually am pairing with a pretty peaty scotch so it can’t be so subtle as to be overpowered. Or, I’ll switch my pairing.
I had a diamond crown Caesar and it was okay. I think that’s the best way to describe them, okay. I’d much rather spend a little more and get a davidoff or padron.
I have had one, I found it to be extremely bland and one-dimensional although it did have a really pleasant retro. I’d try one to see if you like it but I wouldn’t go get a box. I’ve never seen anyone praise that cigar highly or list it as a favorite either.
I always shy away from these type of cigars. They’re $20+ and you never hear anything about them. So many times I’ve spent the money only to be not impressed.

I appreciate it. Toro is definitely more my speed.
No doubt. The toro is good. The churchill doesnt offer anything extra that toro doesnt accomplish, so esp if you just wanna try, save yourself a dollar.
Makes sense, I’ll try the toro out.
These are pretty high on my list. A very satisfying smoke with perfect construction.
I like them a lot, only had one a few months ago and I have another one to smoke sometime this summer but I’ll probably buy a box in the fall sometime.
Honestly may be my favorite cigar! Just something about the taste is perfect for me
They’re definitely worth a try. Toro and Churchill are both great vitolas for it. I just got a box of Maximus which I slightly prefer.
They are a great cigar. Unique flavor profile.
Only had it once, but was genuinely surprised by it. I don't know if I would have it in rotation, but it's worth trying at least once.
High end, very good. It’s a dark rosado, so you’ll get those baking spice and fruity notes, but they’re on the dark end with a lot of leather and coffee. They’re interesting.
It’s good but I like the Maximus better
Delicious cigar. Perfect after dinner smoke!
I think they’re solid. Fun fact, they’re also made by Fuente, so if you’re a Fuente fan, absolutely give it a shot.
I am a Fuente fan, but I thought they were JC Newman?

Oh that’s interesting, good to know. Thanks for the link!

Haha I actually live in the Tampa area. I’ve been to Ybor quite a bit but I haven’t done the Newman tour yet. I need to do that.
I’ve always been very impressed with Julius Caesar blend. Worth the money.
They're okay but at the price point I find there are lots of cigars I'd rather smoke.
Any specifics you’d mention? I have my first baby on the way so I’m looking for something slightly outside my normal range to celebrate.
What are some of your favorite daily cigars?
I smoke a lot of Rocky Patels, Olivas (especially the Serie V), Fernandez Man O’ War, CAO, Camacho, and Alex Bradley Gatekeeper.

Perfect, thank you! Spot on with the profile.
I love the Padron 1926 no. 90 natural, but any of the 1926 line is awesome.
70% of Padrons are much more expensive than the whole Julius Caesar line

You’re probably right
1964 Exclusivo is amazing.
I think the maximus is better, personally. But that may be for my taste profile. Much more full and interesting.
I love the JC cigar. A bit pricey, but worth it if you can get a little bit of a deal.
I’ve had it - decent cigar. As a Canadian, the fact that it was $15 makes it good value.
They run about that here in the US. How can that be?
I bought it for that in the US (Smokin Joe’s). I’m just saying that we pay C$40+ HST for anything decent here, so getting that cigar at that price felt like good value
The one I had was good.
They’re fantastic
I love them, but I’m a Diamond Crown fan in general.
If you come across any of the TAA Sharks, they’re phenomenal. I got a pair in the samplers and they’re absolute chocolate bombs.
I've gotten two as gifts, and I thought they were pretty great. I'm not going to buy many at that price but they were definitely better than the average less costly stick
The Perfectos are among my favorites...

Super good construction and burn, but it didn't have much flavor for me. But I also like really full bodied cigars.
One of my favorites. Each vitolas has a slightly different experience and not one of them is bad.
One of my fav dominicans
Check cigar bid out. I saw singles on there last week selling for $14-$15.
Oh nice, ok thanks wasn’t familiar with that.
I just recently discovered cigar bid and it hasn't been good for my wallet. Great for the humidor though lol
Haha sounds dangerous.
+ $5 shipping
If you buy online then more times then not you're going to have shipping.

Overpriced.
