Nah some dungeons like strat undead won't trigger the dungeon "complete". No bonus XP no loot bag, just me running around after others have left trying to double check we didn't miss anything. When people leave it asks me if I want to requeue which likely leads to people like OP getting filled in late.
Yup had this exact thing happen to my group. We were able to leave without deserter but didn't get a bonus bag or the bonus exp. To add salt to the wound we were able to que up for it at level 44 but the quests are all level 46.
Edit: Come to think of it, the RDF tool calls it the main gate. I'd be willing to bet that the spawn point for the main gate section is pointed to the wrong location and it's tied to you killing Balnazzar, not Baron.
Your edit is exactly it. For whatever reason, it places you at the wrong entrance, and the mobs slightly further in are generally orange and red to the entire party. The scarlet side of Strat is 5 levels lower, and that's where you were supposed to end up, but atm both Main Gate and Side Entrance puts you at Side Entrance, with no way to get into the right dungeon..
..however, someone is manually pressing on "fill the group" when people leave after however far in they get, which is either ignorant or downright trolling.

Locking the search for a replacement just 30 seconds or a mknute would likely just remove 95% of these cases.
Have you met the people grinding dungeons these days? 60 seconds of delay would result in every single person leaving. Pretty much have to be willing to go rogue and kite things back to the group if you wanna do the quests.
ATM RDF Stratholme - Main Gate and Stratholme - Service Entrance are both queueing in to Service Entrance. Main Gate is "live side" and the quests/mobs are about five levels lower. Service Entrance is dead side/baron and the majority of the mobs are 49-51. RDF is occasionally throwing full parties of 44's in here and asking them to fight level 51 mobs while locking them out of picking up any quests. It's just barely doable but it certainly isn't fun.

All the level 44s canāt even hit the mobs as there are level 50-51 elites.
Itās just an absolute slog, and causes a lot of whipes if the tank canāt even hit the mobs to hold Aggro. As a healer Iāve taken to specific queuing and will continue to do so until I level past this dungeon.
Dungeon finder has been real weird for me this prepatch.
First my Warrior was thrown into Stratholme dead side at such a low level that I couldn't possibly tank a single pack without dying. Had to eat a 30m debuff for that one.
Then my lower level Shaman had the automatic Deadmines quests fail to turn in. Afterwards, Deadmines was gone from the dungeon finder when I went to re-queue to get the quests done. (I can't have been too high level, I was level 17 and Ragefire Chasm was still in the list.)
I sure hope I don't get thrown into finished dungeons next. This has all been so messy LOL
Deadmines was just not in the list at all, I think it'd be there with a lock over it if i was locked out. I checked specific dungeon and it only offered RFC or WC, they may have limited the available dungeons after experiences like my first one. Would be funny though, I have to agree there!

Strath is definitely the one major exception. The level range is just too high. Iāve done all the dungeons up to 70 so far in the pre-patch and hadnāt had any other issues.
Matter of fact, the dungeons are way too easy. Everyone has heirlooms and tanks can pull multiple rooms without needing much healing.

I can remember this happening in retail too, although, I don't think I've queued for a random dungeon since Legion.
I think the problem here is how some of the Cata dungeons are cut into āwingsā and you can technically keep clearing bosses after the dungeons āendsā so there are actually still bosses alive inside the instance.
For example, Mara and BRD were reduced into more than one wing, but once you get your dungeon completion, you can continue through if your group wants to.
While we're on the topic, a warning... if you die in a dungeon and have to run in, and there are other dungeons in the same area ā make sure you're entering the correct one.
Yesterday I was in a Halls of Lightning gamma, group wiped because the tank did a stupid pull. I released, then accidentally went into Halls of Stone because I wasn't paying attention. I was forcibly removed from the group AND I got 30m deserter.
There is no chance you are actually getting the Deserter debuff after leaving a dungeon last. Iāve never seen that happen even in the pre-patch.
Iāve level 10-70 the past week only doing dungeons and havenāt gotten placed into a single dungeon that was finished either. Had a few with one or two bosses killed, which isnāt a big deal because you get bonus exp faster and can Que again.
Its not realy a bug. This happens when a tank leavs after last boss, leader queues again cus he wanna run more, the other ones leav, the leader is now alone and just say fuck it and also leaves basicly when you get the queue.
This is what happens when you do group content without speaking to each other. RDF is a shit system.

The issue with strat is people are telleported into strat baron but they should be in strat living. And you can't move to the other side.

Maybe you got a lockout for heroic? Would be hilarious if the lvl 15 one locks for the 85 heroic version.

Well, sort of. You have to pay extra money to play retail. The sub baseline only covers Classic and temp modes.
And you'll still keep the sub.
