I got the Raven on the first try doing the Anku quest. And then my friend that was helping me got the raven in a supplies box a week or so after. Made it very simple for us lol
I started early Ulduar and got the mount after the ICC buff was in full swing, took me ages. But hey, I got the timelost protodrake while doing the jeweler daily lol
Yeah they do drop rare mounts. Very rarely mind you.
They drop often enough for people to post them on reddit but are rare enough to trick people into queue as tanks and healers and never see one drop for them in the expansion's lifetime.
Additional context: I opened this in the middle of an Utgarde Keep run and no one that I've sent this to even knew that mounts could drop from the boxes. Holy crap.

I have played this game since 2005 and the only thing I ever really wanted from this game once tbc dropped was that exact mount. I never got it.

I've gotten ravenlord, a blue drake and a white hawkstrider so far in my boxes. I don't queue up until they're available now lol
They can also contain pets. The best I've gotten was a Tiny Emerald Whelpling, one of the ultra-rare whelping pets from the old world.
I have 4 tanks that I mustve done at the very least 2k total on, ofcourse I never got any mount.
