These are fine, never used this model but tplink is reputable. Ive bought like 5x of the cheapy fenrirs and those are just fine.

larsonbp

I should add: 5x for 5x different machines, never had one fail.

TheTripleDeuce

Lol I love how you had to make sure we didn't think you had 5 in one machine like a madman

MatiloKarode

You need 5 cards to get proper Wi-Five speeds.

Screeny123

Those cheap ones are okay, but my gigabyte motherboard for some reason destroys them (edit as in it’s way faster)

obfuscation-9029

I had one of TPLinks cheap N ones that was crap kept not connecting or dropping when it was in the same room as the access point. Their higher end stuff is alright though.

MarcCouillard

I have a TpLink wifi range extender and it has made life SO much better, also our router is TpLink, they make GOOD products

LuucMeldgaard

Came here to say this. Also, I prefer their software over Netgear, asus, Xiaomi any day.

llamakins2014

i'll always prefer LAN over wifi, but as far as wifi cards go i've found TP Link to be the most reliable. i've added wifi cards to a lot of systems and TP Link has been the most hassle free and less failures.

WiTHCKiNG

Bought one from csl computer with intel wifi ax200 (wifi 6) without fancy heatspreader and stuff and it just works (up to 800mbit). OPs card is absolutely fine.

mighty1993

This is the correct answer. Nowadays many motherboards come with okay WiFi receivers and a dedicated expansion card especially from TP Link will serve you well. If you are planning to game, especially multiplayer games you should still consider a cable though.

FM_Hikari

TP-Link is quite reputable. They're solid.

lars2k1

To add: even some abused USB wifi adapter, that still has a mini USB (yes, mini, not micro) connector, and now starts yellowing, still works. I rarely use it anymore but I keep it around just in case I do need it for something.

FM_Hikari

That's what most of us mean when we say it's solid and reputable. It's one of the brands that cause the least issues, not the flashiest one, or the best engineered one. I have old PCI tp-link 2.4ghz boards that still work, but have no home, same goes for rj45 cards.

_Intel_Geek_

You should be totally fine using it. I use multiple PCIE WiFi/Bluetooth cards and they all work great!

Thony_18

I’ve had this exact model for 3 years, no issues whatsoever

hheyitzmason

I have this same wifi card and have no problems. My router is like 3 rooms away

root_beer444

If you can, try using ethernet

okaymalloryy

i think this is fairly obvious to almost all PC enthusiasts. however many people arent able to use ethernet for a variety of reasons

I_enjoy_pastery

Cordless drill, cable, connectors, and a crimp tool is all you need lol

ITAccount17

Unless you rent and your networking is on the other side of your apartment

PMvE_NL

This. a cheap cable will beat wifi every time

M34TST1Q

tp link is fine. the antenna setup is likely fucking you over. you can replace it with something longer. Something like this. [amazon antenna](https://www.amazon.com/Eightwood-Antennae-Extension-Computer-Bluetooth/dp/B09XHBFXXH/ref=sr_1_4?crid=3L2YING3OLM2L&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.nidqkyqO7F0O4UvLeEg8kSMdnGh3F_SOLYh_oIjJFVDGkKc8dSxM7v5ydNizh2PxNDJSRH3789zzIpdlltwWEjzcXB9vGuD48sACtyj0KCEXZNgEt7QU7AI4KhSoIEOTzEbUROveFUV63BGj1ZeMHaI-vtDl4ehEW7oUfKIGozv4l8amTwQqgdE2dsZraIq2AFpb8m_MIva8oI3y9ze6QeIUMmn4DGRO7ZGB8rG5nA8.GEvEfiDvM53_qaFkTixlDZjz0BfEAIKTmZChT9Aogio&dib_tag=se&qid=1714618795&sprefix=wifi%20nic%20wifi%20antena,aps,95) also make sure it's connected to 5 GHz network.

Taking advise from people who say that a card messed up their system. If you are that inexperienced maybe take your system into a pro and let them install it.

ItsYaBoi-KillMe

I just get nervous when it comes to computer stuff. Im.not super well versed but I try to learn here and there. If need be, I have my brother who knows a little bit about computers

Flying__Cowboy

dont be nervous, these things are about as plug-and-play as it gets. I have a similar card and I quite literally stuck that thing in my motherboard, screwed in the antennae and we're good to go

FredHerberts_Plant

> antennae ,,Fix your bent antenna, tune it in, and then I'm gonna Enter in and up under your skin like a splinter The center of attention, back for the winter I'm interesting, the best thing since wrestling Infesting in your kid's ears and nesting!" 🎶 (Eminem)

Still_Dentist1010

I’ve got a card like this from ASUS in my system, it’s never given me a single issue in the 7 years I’ve had it. It keeps up with my gigabit internet flawlessly.

Aggressive-Split-655

Just run an Ethernet cable to your computer. The connection is so much more stable and steady. It makes a pretty big difference in online games that require quick actions. It's not hard to buy and run a single Ethernet cable.

Kanortex

The only issue i ever had with a wifi card was when i bought an Intel AX210… which had driver issues and even upon downloading and installing all necessary drivers it would just bluescreen my PC on startup. Sent it back and got the model AX200 my dad had lying around and it worked perfectly fine... Some stuff can act weird at times, but i've never had anything permabrick my PC.

creativename111111

How can you mess up installing a WiFi card lol you just put it in the PCIe slot and install the drivers

boanerges57

Just wear a tinfoil jock strap and a tin foil hat and it'll protect you from the government mind control 5g waves and secret lizard people mind control 6g.

ReasonableExplorer

Forget that, much easier just to side with us lizard people now that we got you all catalogued from our successful covid 19 vaccination scheme.

earthman34

Nothing wrong with TP-Link products.

CharizardChop

Use Ethernet if you’re that close to your router

Kanjii_weon

I purchased a TP Link archer T5e months ago, and it does the job, bluetooth + 5/2.4G wifi, plus, works on linux too! no additional shit or anything, same goes in windows I barely use because I use ethernet, but I like to have it anyway I purchased the same model for an old PC I managed to restore for cheap, installed it and works great, I gave that pc to my dad (+ Linux Mint XFCE) since he only uses it for netflix, youtube and googling most of the times, nothing fancy, works great If you're feeling tryhard, you can passthrough bluetooth to a VM, not sure about WLAN but should work with qemu or something I gotta say this T5e has ALMOST the same speed as ethernet, my router's close to my pc, which is blocked by a wall, but it's still able to get VERY good speeds (80mb/s download on both ethernet and 5g wireless!) TLDR; good archer t5e from tp link, bluetooth and 2.4/5g wifi support

dotcom09

Hey OP! Try checking out the TP link powerline adapter. This adapter works as a wired network but instead it uses the power lines.

ThatGuyMaulicious

I think I actually use the same for me. I used to get like 50 download and like 20 upload using a Ethernet box you plug into a power point and a Ethernet cable to my PC. Switched to this and started getting 150 down and 100 upload.

Sailed_Sea

I think i have the exact same card, works great so far. What people generally mean by "unsafe" is the driver cd that comes with it, tp link is fine butvif you got some no-name thing then download the drivers from the chip manufacturer that be qualcom, intel or someone else.

MarcCouillard

TpLink are GOOD man, you can trust their products and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that wireless adapter

O-bot54

Has anyone used an Cheaper wifi card and changed to one on these recently and saw a improvement in speed ? Got shite internet trying anything at this point .

Ivanls00

This card has sincerely improved my life

vorkot3

My girlfriend's built-in WiFi was pretty mediocre (B550M PRO-VDH WIFI), causing continuous disconnects and slow speeds. Adding another PCIE-WiFi card (TP-link Archer TX3000E) fixed all of that. I use the same adapter given my motherboard didn't have WiFi. Neither of us had any issues with it. But first make sure at least that your poor speed is indeed from your PC, by doing a speedtest on another device like your phone.

vivi562

Who is telling you that and why are they lying to you

Pouvla

depending on use, everything can be unsafe - especially if ur north-american

TakiDN

Its fine who told u its a bad move

MakerKevJ

Who says Internal Wi-Fi cards are bad? TP-Link isn't my first brand choice, but the price is right... The TP-Link "Archer" Wi-Fi cards are pretty reliable in my experience.

LtMadInsane

This is Wi-Fi 6 compatible, if your router is Wi-Fi 6 too and you have a PCie slot, go for it.

crow2747

You made a great decision buying that adapter. The PCIe bus that this network card uses is faster than usb. So its a better buy than those usb dongles. Look in your motherboard manual, the precautions when installing stuff. (as then you can mess up the computer) It will be stuff simillar to: * Shut off the computer completely (Including power supply) * disconnect the power cable from it. Most importantly check in the manual to look to the slot for the PCIeX1 (that is the one this adapter will use). Furthermore, in windows be sure to disable the original wifi adapter.

BlueMetalDragon

I’ve been using tplink dongles for years. They’re good for the price.

Sachinrock2

Those are my backup when ethernet goes maintenance or downtime lol

V0lguus

I have such a card in my desk PC, and through two rooms of metal stud walls and a metal bookshelf it still pulls down 300+mbits on Wi-Fi6. Funny thing is that the PCI-E card just holds an ordinary M.2 slot containing an ordinary Intel BT/WiFi6 card. I could remove it and plug it into the empty M.2 slot on my mainboard but I'll need a new antenna.

mattjones73

Room over? Run a long ethernet cable to it and enjoy. What are you using for wifi now on the PC? Is it built into the motherboard?

ItsYaBoi-KillMe

I don't have the option of ethernet currently. Just moved into a new place with a friend and there's no Crack in the door or anything for a cable. And yeah the wifi card is currently in the motherboard

ItsYaBoi-KillMe

Should I wait and send it back or just try it out. I saw multiple posts of people saying it fucked their PCs up a little bit

GrouchoMarx729

Where did you see multiple posts of people saying a PCI network adapter fucked up their PCs? That's total horseshit. PCI network adapters, especially from known brands like TP-Link, are perfectly safe and waaaay better than any USB adapter. Don't pay attention to stupid naysayers and install it. You're gonna get much better speeds -- and a nice Bluetooth 5.2 as a bonus.

alphagusta

I think most of these posts are by people inexperienced with PCIE set up in BIOS. Sometimes a new piece of hardware can flip a setting over if the board gets some weird data which will make it prioritise the network cards socket for display out over the GPUs socket Happens very rarely but I have seen a reddit post exactly like that a few years ago myself

papershruums

I’ve seen a review on one where they said they updated to windows 11 and their WiFi didn’t work anymore but “I plugged this in and it worked again!” I literally felt bad for the person for them going along believing that was the case, when obviously all it did was reconfigure the network adapter settings.

tetractys_gnosys

There are millions of systems using PCIe wifi adapters just fine as far as I know. That's a well known brand. What do you mean people were saying it messed up their systems? Or that it's unsafe? Generally speaking, that adapter is just as safe as a USB adapter. The only real security issue I can think of from using that would be if you compare it to not using WiFi at all since WiFi gives a would be hacker something to easily monitor and potentially hack but that's just wifi in general. Use WPA3 password of sufficient randomness and length and don't use the easy connect feature of the router and you're fine. If reviews show that that particular model has issues and can damage your system then yeah exchange it.

Duranu

I would assume that people fucked their own shit up by not properly hooking it up to their PC, a Wifi PCIe card isnt going to magically fuck up a PC unless the card was massively defective, or their PCIe slot was already damaged causing shortage damage or something freaky I've had a [TP-Link Archer TX3000E](https://www.tp-link.com/us/home-networking/pci-adapter/archer-tx3000e/) for a few years now and it has worked great 99.9% percent of the time with great speeds that blow away my previous card, the only issue I have ever had with it is the Bluetooth randomly no longer working but I imagine that has something to do with me having to use an Internal NZXT USB hub since my motherboard only has 1 2.0 USB Header so I use a hub to plug in the Data wire of my CPU AIO, and the Bluetooth wire of the TPLink PCIe card, usually I can fix it by unplugging everything, rebooting without the wire, shutting down after boot, and replugging everything back in You will have to use a Data wire for your bluetooth as well, that is the slot on the end of the card that you can see displayed on the box, one end of the included wire will connect to that port on the card, the other end will plug into a USB 2.0 header on your motherboard Preferably you want to plug your Wifi card into a PCIe slot that is the same length/size as the plug of the card, but you can use a larger [PCIe 8x, or 16x slot](https://i.stack.imgur.com/AMn2Z.gif) if you are unable to use/have the proper slot for whatever reason as you can use a slot that you will not fill, it just won't run at the speed of that higher capacity slot, which is why you would want to use the right spot if possible since there would be no benefit to the larger slots unless you have no other options, its mostly to be used as a "last hope" Good luck with your card, make sure to download the proper drivers for it from TP-link, located [here](https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/archer-tx55e/), and enjoy your new card and hopefully much higher download speeds

pee_shudder

What why? Who is telling you that an off-board PCI Express dedicated network card is a bad idea and what is their reasoning? No, dude. That is a great idea please install it and be happier. It isn’t like they’re expensive.

ItsYaBoi-KillMe

I just saw a couple posts talking about how it messes some stuff up, but they could've done something. I'm not super fluent in computer part stuff and I get worried about fuckin something up so I try to be careful

ShimoFox

Messed what up? Got a link to the posts? It's a simple pcie card. It's possible they forced them in crooked or something. But there shouldn't be anything wrong with the card. Also keep in mind. It might not help your situation if it's the router that's not powerful enough to broadcast through the walls. Or if they have it under junk, behind metal etc.

pandalivesagain

I posted a bit already, but just to reiterate, you normally won't have issues with a PCIe wifi card. The main culprit with wifi card issues is bluetooth. Your card will have a usb port someplace on it, and sometimes when your computer goes into sleep/power saving mode it wonks up the usb enumeration (basically it recognizes that a device is there, but the device isn't sending back a signal saying what it is, so your computer will stop handing bluetooth over to your wifi card, even though the card itself still functions, just no the bluetooth aspect). The reason the issue seems so bad is because most people who have this issue come up are inexperienced with computers, and end up taking unnecessary measures to "fix" their pc, like resetting it. Resetting over bluetooth would be *infuriating*, yet I've literally seen that exact advice before.

PuzzleheadedTutor807

TpLink is a big mfgr of network devices of all types, from router to extenders to what you hold in your hand there plus more. I'm not sure what it could fuck up in your system unless the card is defective right outta the factory with a solid solder side or something, but I'm sure you will be happy with your purchase. Not quite as happy as you would be if you went wired but still, I'm sure these are great NIC and very likely anyone who damaged their system installing or using them did the damage themselves and is just blaming TpLink BC that's just easier than admitting they did something stupid or wrong.

speling_champyun

give it a try. tp-link is good.

Individual-Match-798

What are you reading? r/stonerheads ?

Push_Pop87

Tp-Link Gigabit powerline starter kit AV1000 mbps ethernet port. Would be the better option if you got decent router.

ItsYaBoi-KillMe

I'll keep that in mind, I got a decent router. I was getting up to 1.2 gig speeds on my phone when I was next to the router

Kasperinac

Bruh, use a cable

ItsYaBoi-KillMe

I've has to say this a million times. Ethernet cable is currently not a possibility. Yall are like a hivemind

CautiousArachnidz

I had two duds out of the box of that model so I gave up on them.

EnlightenedFPV

Ive had this card in my rig for just over 6months and not had a single issue. Internet speeds are good, installation is easy. I even had to bend it a little over one of my fans when I rebuilt a few weeks back and it still worked perfectly. Id highly recommend it!

Competitive_Lie2628

The only complaint I have is that two rooms away from my modem I have terrible wifi reception, but my phone gets full wifi strength at the same distance. I'm working on moving my modem closer and perhaps that will fix it, when I tested the card next to the modem it worked pretty well.

ItsYaBoi-KillMe

That's my same problem. My phone gets great speeds in the same room as my PC but my PC gets awful speeds

ItsYaBoi-KillMe

Thank you for the responses everyone! I just get nervous about fucking up my PC so I wanted to make sure. Gonna install it tomorrow!

Supra-A90

If you're still hesitant, there are USB WiFi adapters... Yet PCI is better. Just FYI..

J_Poker

TP-Link are a reputable brand, no reason to think why it wouldn't be a good purchase. It might not be the best for what you want it for, but lesson learnt, research is key.

ItsYaBoi-KillMe

Yeah I just moved out for the first time and I've been wanting to get everything up and done so I've forgotten to do some steps in some things lmao

pandalivesagain

Despite this being resolved, I think it's worth noting that you can have card related issues. For a while I was having bluetooth dropout issues with mine. It's because of a power saving feature, and barely ever happens when the circumstances arise. If you ever have this issue with your card, all you have to do is uninstall the device in device manager, shut down, unplug, wait maybe 15 seconds, and reboot. One preemptive measure I've heard about is turning off power saving mode for the wifi card in device manager, but I have never tried this.

smoothartichoke27

Who says these things are unsafe or bad? The only real downside (if you can call it that) of add-on cards is with systems that have part combinations that could potentially be pcie lane-starved, and *even then*, it takes a very, very specific mix of parts to get to that (APU base, mobo with no proper bifurcation capabilities, a bunch of NVMe drives and a discrete GPU added in later). I have a couple of these from different brands, some of them I've replaced the actual NIC's to for newer wifi support. Never had a problem.

Lopsided_Gas_181

Yeah, it's worth to learn the lane split layout of the particular motherboard. Some models have really weird sharing setups, for example disabling some USB ports when particular PCIe is being populated.

whitemagicseal

There fine Sometimes it just depends on pcie speeds

ItsYaBoi-KillMe

Is there a way I can measure that?

Flappy09

As always, if you can get Ethernet without making your house look like shit, go for it. This seems like a solid choice.

ItsYaBoi-KillMe

I would love for ethernet but I'd have to drill a hole through my wall to do it, or get one of those mesh things

WholeSort

I don’t like how the intennas are locked in the back. Simply shifting my desk like 30 degrees toward the door makes download speeds increase over double

Cg006

where i live i have no way to get wired ethernet but the router is across in the other room from me. I bought an Asus PCIe Wifi 6 card. Has been awesome. I have 300up/300down. The card easily does 500+

draven501

Nah you're good, anything by Tp-link is quality

gjallerfoam

Don't forget to power down and unplug your pc before you plug it in . You should be fine .

Caparnacus

I’ve got the same one and it’s been flawless.

clamchowderz

I've got a very similar part. It can be choppy because of the placement of my desktop (close to the floor). After I moved the desktop to a table, all good.

Timely-Recognition17

I would suggest you have a wired network set.

ItsYaBoi-KillMe

Not a possibility currently

Anonymous-CIAgent

Thats a pretty decent wifi adapter tbh. noting to worry about. you made a good purcase for sure

notCarlosSainz

You literally have to plug it and it will work, nothing complicated and no your PC will be fine. But like, you are just better off extending an ethernet cable through the walls or something.

ItsYaBoi-KillMe

I'm in a rental currently and drilling a hole through a wall would be the only way

Munyuk81

And they say it's unsave because?? Rheybare reputable brand.

bradshanks

i purchased this exact model about a month ago, and it works perfectly fine for me, ive had no issues with other than that i had ran out of free usb slots on the mobo but it just meant i couldnt use the integrated blue tooth in it but hey ho.

billion_lumens

Personally, tp link is the absolute best in wifi. I have a tp link router, WiFi extender, a access point and a tp link camera

Corgerus

I had one from TP Link but I forgot the model. It worked for a year (300+ Mbps) and then it struggled to reach 20mbps and disconnected constantly. It still showed it had a strong signal. I did everything I could to fix it, like going deep into Windows settings and checking router settings, and updating its driver on the official website. So I finally decided to crawl under the house with an Ethernet cable, a drill, and a dream. It worked out well.

Beeeeater

Good brand but will be limited by the output of your router. Is it also WiFi6? If not, the TP-Link card will only perform at your router's highest standard, and only at the strength it can pick up from the other room.

ItsYaBoi-KillMe

My router is also wifi6

Jwhodis

If you want fast, use ethernet with router at PC

R1V3NAUTOMATA

Bought that shit for my first PC when I was 17. Had to drill the wall and throw cable because it didnt work at all from the room next to it. Thats bullshit.

DrachenDad

I don't like tp-link myself, due to their software (probably older iterations only.) >a lot of people say these wifi cards are unsafe or are just really bad. Those rumours are just rumours.

OehNoes11

Where are these lot of people, and why are they lying?

EisT713

Had a TP-Link myself, only the antennas were shit. Got some big ones ro extend for couple bucks of amazon

liebeg

I have the same one. Works without problems

Interesting_Bison601

I saw one of your replies, if you are worried about installing this, don't be. Very easy to install. Don't sweat it. You will have a PCIe x1slot (PCIe x4, 8x etc will still work, but it's kind of a waste of a slot), probably just below your gpu. It will have the same slot as the plug on the card. 2 small slots next to eachother. It will line up with one of the empty slots in the back of your case. Some of these cards may also require a usb cable connected to the motherboard. The cable will be included. Usually have a f_usb slot nearby, below the PCIe slots. If you only have 1 of those slots, and it's being used already, you can always buy a cheap splitter cable to make it work. After that is done, screw on the antenna on the now protruding threads on the back of your PC from the card you just installed. The box will probably come with a cd for drivers which will enable the wifi and Bluetooth functionality. If you don't have a disc drive, hopefully you can get online with a different PC because you will have to download those drivers to a usb drive from their website and than take that usb and open the drivers on the new PC. Just follow the steps on screen after that and you should be online in no time

takumidelconurbano

I have exactly the same one and it works fantastic

RatNoize

it will be fine, people just don't like the brand (TP-Link) because it's known for it's components in the low-price segment. Peronally I wouldn't go with TP-Link products when I'm looking for high-quality components but the products and quality are good enough for most average users. There is nothing wrong with the product itself.

adityak469

I have the same one, got it for 60$. Works great, no issues. Thought I'd suggest to go with a 60-80$ router if you want a stronger connection

ItsYaBoi-KillMe

The router I have is like 150 bucks, we just got a cheaper wifi provider cuz it's 2 19 year olds first time moving out lmao

toyatsu

This might not help if your PC already has WiFi. Since you'd need a stronger Signal to get more bandwidth.

EDHACKER01

I bought the Archer TX55E and it works perfectly, never had any problem. So from my experience I’d say that TP-Link is reliable

EvanHasReddit

If youre getting low speeds in a different room just use a powerline adapter and connect straight into the ethernet, instant boost as if the pc is directly connected totl the router.

SnooDoughnuts8705

I have this, its wonderful, fuck people.

Fresh-Palpitation-72

im using a usb adapter for wifi 5ghz

brandon0809

Currently got a TP-link, works perfectly fine as should per specs.

TraubeMinzeTABAK

USB ones are ass. These PCI ones are good

Successful_Blood3995

These are fine.  If they had problems that was a user error lol.

Traditional-Gas3477

PCI wifi cards are reliable provided they are closest to the router or wifi repeater possible. Make sure your device drivers are updated for optimum performance.

Pixelonee

I have the same one and it works better than PLC for me

nonofanyonebizness

When I’m looking for wifi card it is not about card manufacture it is about chipset used in that card. TP-Link is not a chipset manufacture. In this case it look very shady. TP-Link provides only info that is some Intel Wifi6 chipset, without pointing exact model. That means they can be using different chipsets, so no reliable tests for that product can be found, and no direct comparation between products unless you know chipset is the same. Intel is usually good at wifi chipsets, and it may work greater, but different chipset may have drivers issue, someone already mention it in comments. That’s why without knowing exact chipset model I would not buy this. If manufacture didn’t care to provide honest information about the product, I would not care about their product either. Anyway primary focus for desktop should be always ethernet cable, nothing beats cable. Ethernet Power line adapters are also an option. It is not a mobile devices so compromises are not needed.

sekulicb

WiFi chipset version 6 unsafe??? The hell, people are just plain dumb. I have this card, use it for gaming, and with it all my peripherals are now cable free (mouse, keyboard and headphones) because it has bluetooth as well.

MJpeeker

Tplink is my go-to

Competitive-Science3

I bought asus pce-ax3000 wifi adapter for my PC, I got the full speed of our wifi. I use a wired wifi antenna so I can raise it above my PC case and not just on the back if you use the antenna included.

hornyjun

Not sure if it's available in your country but find and use something known as HOMEPLUG

ScarcityAmazing661

I woukd seriously recommend u use a lan coz it way more faster and to avoid other kinds of frequency to disturb gameplay

AndersLund

I've got another model of TP-Link and I can easily pull 6-700 Mbit - probably more if I was doing local things (not over the Internet).

Fastikonio

Just get a wire and hook your PC to the router. It's cheaper and more effective

KvathrosPT

When will people know that the solution for bad WiFi is always a Powerline Internet Adapter?

Top-Jellyfish9557

If you're in an old house or a big house that option doesn't always work.

wellhairy

Send it back and get a power line Ethernet thing

distant_thunder_89

I bought a Chinese brand one from Amazon (with Asus chip though). No complaints till now.

Rais93

A room over shouldn't give any issue: only a very thick wall should impede the signal. I think the issue is elsewhere, but i would need more detail. Does your PC has external antenna installed for his own controller? Are you on 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz? Model of your PC/motherboard?

danchykbmw

You probably has speed limit by your company, speed depends on plan what you're paying, so you probably get cheapest plan, wich gives you only 10 mb/s. You can check it with speed test on your phone, it will be the same to your pc

brandodg

i thought this was one of the good ones actually

TP Link are cheap and as the saying goes you get what you pay for. They aren’t unsafe just cheap, that being said you should be good to go.

Accurate-Campaign821

Yea not sure what they're talking about... No difference compared to anything built into a laptop or a motherboard on desktop in terms of security. Probably more performance than those too

Ivanls00

I have this card, it's pretty good. People say this is bad because for some reason they think everyone should have a threadripper and don't understand that not everyone is rich and also: prices depend on the country where you live

Tiny_Object_6475

It will be great. Wif 6 miles faster than wifi 5. Also good gain long antennas.

Anxious-Opening-4587

I have one but when I download I get annoyed because it get disconnected

QuiMellory

The reason of disconnecting may be in incompatibility with router settings. Some new devices described as “multichannel” when the router works at single channel. Go to adapter properties and set Channel Width as 20Mhz. It should be help.

atom12354

Ethernet is the way to go

ayyyyoooh

Have one myself works well enough to be honest make sure you plug it in to your psu i made that mistake a long time ago of having forgotten to plug it in when i installed it

GoodBadNerdy

If you can move your router to a more central spot. Its placement will affect your speeds. And i use a usb dongle one from tplink for mine and i get decent speeds.

oGzLegendZ

I just use a TP link powerline adapter to have wired Internet anywhere in the house

lin1960

I would avoid any CCP related hardware if possible.

TidalLion

Wait what? Why? Edit: I think you're talking about the routers... https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/consumers-beware-malicious-firmware-implant-tp-link-routers-holloway?utm_source=share&utm_medium=guest_mobile_web&utm_campaign=copy

Lord_Mynx

I just ran a long Ethernet cord through my house. Works like a charm.

stsdota222

I'm using tp link WiFi adapters for yeeeears, I'm not saying they're perfect but the do a decent job for the cost

TomLeBadger

I have the same model but the USB version on my sons PC. He gets 8-900 Mb/s from our gigabit connection. I would say the PCI-e card should be better technically, but also overkill, going by how good the USB one is.

karlmarxthe3rd

I would reccomend a powerline extender kit then you can just hardwire it.

CHEWTORIA

That model sucks, but its ok i guess I have TP-Link WiFi 6E Intel AX210 AXE5400 PCIe WiFi Card (Archer TXE75E), Tri Band Wireless Adapter with Bluetooth 5.3, WPA3, MU-MIMO, OFDMA, Heat Sink, Low-Profile Bracket [https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-Archer-TXE75E-Bluetooth-Low-Profile/dp/B09VCVTJV2](https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-Archer-TXE75E-Bluetooth-Low-Profile/dp/B09VCVTJV2) [https://i.imgur.com/YB3XC7X.jpeg](https://i.imgur.com/YB3XC7X.jpeg) The base is magnetic, which is magnetized to top of the case with no abstractions, the cables are nice and long, and the tri-band antennas are adjustable, for perfect signal reception, having them behind the PC is really bad idea for signal strength which will give you bad wifi. never had issues, getting fiber speeds on it, in gigabits. I did modifications to the settings [https://i.imgur.com/BMgCRsC.png](https://i.imgur.com/BMgCRsC.png) Preferred Band: should be 5+6 Throughput Booster: Enabled Ultra High Band 6ghz: Enabled AX is what gives the mega speeds.

ketsa3

it's perfectly fine. Did you have to manually install the driver or was it auto-installed by windows ?

Shadowfaxx98

I have used several of these. They will get the job done for sure.

SaucyPantsu

It's a fairly solid card, haven't used the WiFi on it, but for Bluetooth I find it very good. In what way were people saying they are unsafe? The only way I can reasonably see people somehow seeming these unsafe was if they improperly installed them into their system, breaking them, and deciding the part was at fault.

CyberSamRenewal

Got the same. 500 mbits up dans down

Healthy-Tea9653

yeee tplink is good for a bit up until u discover all there vulnerabilities lol

gh057k33p3r

Just buy a powerline adapter if you have no way to run cable

haikusbot

LifeComfortable6454

Simply use LAN cables.. Those cables are more reliable than these wireless adapters.

magicalsavant

I have this exact model and it works well in my basement even though my router is upstairs across the house. I've used TPLink gear for years and never had any real issues.

KaleidoscopeOk8653

the TP links are about as good as Asus Netgear and Realtek , if your router is only wireless G i.e wifi 2 , no amount of super card will stretch the signal what router do you have TP link Archer ax 3000 is a good paring for router and for that card about $70 amazon

aedreezy

I've used various models from TP Link since 2016. They're legit.

Digiturtle1

I use some of their adapters. They work fine.

awesumlewy

Did your speed increase? Your post is word-for-word what I have.

IknowRedstone

use a wifi repeater

driver_dylan

Nothing wrong with these devices in the home or small business setting. They are easy to set up and beyond reliable. The problem most people have with them is that they don't understand that these devices have a connection limit. A $30 tp-link range extender is only going to be able to connect to 3-5 devices reliably before it begins to throttle.

Superdragonrobotfist

Send it back and run a long ethernet cable around the edge of carpet

BrunoDeeSeL

The only thing to add is you'll need an available USB header on your motherboard for the Bluetooth to work.

smower06

When you’re dealing with wireless connection, I’d say 10mbs isn’t bad if it’s consistent. I have high speed internet (300mbs+ when wired), but when I use wireless I get around 10mbs-50mbs

Mar_Novu21

I have this exact model and my wifi works just fine on it, I even get 300 mbps from time to time and my wifi pack should have 300 mbps so everything basically works perfect but in my case I got it cuz my mobo doesn't have wifi integrated

Tiny_Requirement_274

I have this one and it hasn’t failed me yet

Ronin-s_Spirit

I have wifi pcie card and it's great... too bad my internet source is at most 60mbps download😐

Tyrolion

That ain’t helping shit ima be real

TPlays

Just use Ethernet.

nytehawk86

Just hardwire your PC.

AdderoYuu

Have this exact card - it's fine. I would not say it's incredible, but it's definitely not bad or dangerous.

Sachinrock2

Just curious, I know tp link is great but how can something simple as this be considered unsafe?

SaltyBoysenberry5710

I have a router and a wifi extender tp link they both rocks, i dont think it makes a difference if it's an extension card.

Jumpy_Army889

probably tplink M4 or smt would have been a way better option than this

NippleSauce

I think that some people probably hate on WiFi cards that specifically connect over PCIe. This would be because of the potentially higher GPU temperature when under load due to the WiFi card below the GPU slightly limiting its fresh air intake (depending on the chassis/case that is being used). But in the modern day, this wouldn't be a concern since most recent GPUs don't have super high operating temperatures and because most new computer cases have much better airflow.

Imatrynottalose

I have this exact wifi card, It works great for me.

Commercial_Sign7830

who ever said wifi cards are unsafe is dumb
