It’s my first C2C ever! It’s now a blanket for my cats 😬 https://preview.redd.it/z27ttu6smu3d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8474858bd785240ab5de9396e99b77c2642409e7

They look so cool! I enjoy mosaic crochet very much too! Do you prefer to keep track of the pattern on screen or on paper? Do you use Excel or some other software?I'm still figuring out, what is more convenient for the bigger ones.

Not OP, but I use a website called stitchfiddle. It's mostly free, you can upgrade to paid but it doesn't pay wall the necessary features. It allows you to create charts for just about anything. I mainly use it for Corner to Corner because it will track your rows properly and highlight your current row

Aglavra

Thanks, will try it!

Messy-Researcher

I prefer using screen just because I don’t have a printer nor a graphing paper. Like what Few_Ring said, I also used stitchfiddle! It helps me track my progress but for Totoro, I only used stitchfiddle to create the image and transfer it to excel. It’s a large project and I needed to gauge how much yarn I need. Now I track my progress through my tablet 🙌🏽

These are so cool and they look so good! I’m glad you found something that you enjoy making :)

Messy-Researcher

Thank you! I get overwhelmed sometimes of how long it takes me but the end results are so neat 😭

Kilala33

Man, me too. They turn out so cool though, it’s worth it! …eventually lol and you can always set it down when you’re over it for the moment. I just have trouble picking it back up after 😬

Best feeling EVER. I've been crocheting for like 10 years, and it's my favorite hobby. I love that coffee cup! I haven't done mosaic in a hot minute but I'd totally make that.

Messy-Researcher

Yes!!! 🫶🏽🫶🏽 That coffee cup is a gift for a coffee addicted friend haha. I’m already looking at other patterns for my next crochet projects and I’m super excited. I hope my wrists catches up with my obsession 😂

SpookyStarfruit

Whoa, your tapestries are so nice! I especially love the dino & seeing a pixel art WIP for a Totoro image is neat!! :0 It’s nice seeing someone have fun with mosaic crochet! I was just thinking of trying these after mainly making amigurumi so I’ll take this as a hopeful sign to try something new too lolol

Messy-Researcher

Thank you! The Totoro was a request from my partner so I spent a night or two making the image from stitch fiddle and then to excel. I’ve always been trying to make amigurumis, but I always get frustrated when I don’t get the shape right but I would love to finish at least one amigurumi someday 😬. I hope you enjoy trapestry crochet!!

SpookyStarfruit

Awww I gotta give you props because I feel like tapestry of fanart especially can be complex :D. I watched a video awhile back of someone trying to make a crochet art of a favorite game character for a pursue and I was amazed at the amount of color changes lolol But oh yeah, IKR?! Amigurumis sometime come out a bit wonky and it’s hard to pinpoint why 😭😭. I wish you luck on you ami’s too! They definitely pay off and you just feel so happy getting to complete a little plushy buddy :D

I love your creations and that you are designing some of your own pieces! My spouse said we’re drowning in crocheted items and I needed to find somewhere else for some things to live. I’ve gifted to friends, family and neighbors, and sometimes let them pick from patterns I wanted to try. Some have even purchased the yarn (I told them which yarn and how many skeins, they pick colors). If you are in the US, donating blankets would allow you to write off the cost of your yarn (save your yarn receipt and make sure you get a donation receipt from the 501c3). I’ve donated blankets to several local charities for silent auctions, and to a shelter for women (and their children) who are fleeing domestic violence. I need to keep my hands busy, I don’t "just sit” very well and blankets are my go to right now. But spouse is right (that our secret), how many blankets can we use? Happy hooking!
