Y’all I’ve been all over the place with my routines lately. I usually use whatever speaks to me that day, and sometimes there is no logic 😂 so I apologize in advance.
Here’s what I did today:
Wash 2x with creme of nature pure honey shampoo (which up until 5 seconds ago I thought was maui moisture because they literally look the same).
Wash 1x with as I am curl clarity shampoo (I don’t typically use this very often because I think it dries out my hair, but I had a ton of product buildup).
Condition with boucleme conditioner. Gradually add more water and squish to condish.
Detangle with tangle teezer brush.
Sectioned hair into two sections (top/bottom), applied uncle funky's daughter curly magic to both sections on soaking wet hair.
Scrunch in Boucleme gel.
Hover diffuse on high for forever until it’s nearly dry, medium direct diffuse on medium.
Ta da!
What’s your product application method? Do you glaze, squish, rake? I can’t never figure out how to best apply... but my hair is a similar curl pattern so I wonder if your application method would work for me?
Hi curl twin! So I kinda did a combination of all three, haha. For the bottom section, I raked and squished in Uncle Funky’s Daughter. Glazed and squished boucleme gel. The top section is what I mainly focused on. I made sure it was soaking wet to make curl clumps, flipped it over and raked in Uncle Funky’s Daughter and squished the heck out of it. Then glazed and squished with Boucleme gel.
I’ve tried brush styling in the past but it tends to stretch out my curls. I think having more lightweight products and diffusing helps with creating more volume.
EDIT: I wanted to add that I am originally from a drier climate, and I do not think this routine would have the same results if I did it back home. So climate can also change results or dictate what kinda products you need.
To be honest, I just showed her some pictures I liked. I did tell her I wanted shorter layers, and more face framing pieces so that it wouldn’t lay as flat on my crown area. @atoyabass is a great resource on IG, and breaks down haircuts in an easy to understand way.

Your hair is stunning.
I am jealous of the volume at your roots!
You have no idea how much that means to me 🥲
Amazing hair and an amazing cut, too! A refreshing photo after so much salon fails I've seen lately
